  • Hello fellow IP-ers! (Especially those of you from Calgary, hope youre staying warm )

Just restarted the program a couple of weeks ago after taking the summer off! I've been lurking in the shadows for some time on the boards so thought it was time to connect with others who are in their first month on the program!

Looking forward to connecting with you all!!!

  • Feeling super excited .... had my 2nd WI and down another 4lbs so thats a two week total of 11lbs and 9.75inches. I was really hoping to lose inches in my chest and waist but everything seems to be melting off my thighs first ... :-/
  • So I had my first weigh in yesterday (after 5 days on the program, not 7 as I needed to change the week day of my appointments) down 3 pounds, and I lost quite a few inches! Not bad considering I'm the girl who can do everything right and still not lose weight! When I was there I asked if I could buy 2 weeks worth of food instead of 1 so I would have some variety, my coach said no. Is this typical on IP? I really don't want to have to eat the same stuff everyday...and I was hoping to get one restricted box that's salty and one that's sweet (just in case cravings show up!).

I have never heard of a clinic limiting the amount you can buy - that's silly. They make their money off selling you the IP products. Is there an owner or supervisor you can talk to?

I bought a huge variety of foods so I had choices (I am lucky, I can buy individual packets). This is hard enough without limiting what food you can have.

And congrats on the loss - that is super!
  • I was allowed to buy extra also. I like the chance to have options in my food choices. Did your coach have a reason for limiting the purchases?
  • Ok I thought it was a bit funny! She was the owner so I have nobody else to ask. Her reasoning was that the only way she can ensure that you're eating 3 packs a day is to sell you just enough...there's no other clinic nearby so I'm seriously considering buying packs online (which I really don't want to do!) so I can add some variety.

Can I call Shenanigans on this?

First of all, she CANNOT guarantee you are eating 3 packets a day by restricting your purchasing. How is she going to know if you skip a packet and just put it in your cupboard?

Second of all, YOU are paying her good money to do this program. If variety is what will help keep you on plan, and she wants your money, you need to be firm with her. She is working for you, not the other way around. I've never heard of any IP coach turning away business like that.
  • TOgden3 & kimo! Congrats on your weigh ins! You're both doing great!

kimo - I agree, I've never heard of that. My coach allows me to buy individual packets, which I also think should almost be a given at any clinic. I have my few favorite foods, but I never have the same three things each day for a week straight. And I quite often buy a few extra packets just in case I feel like this or that on a certain day. Or like this week, I got stuck with appointments during my regular weigh in, so thankfully I have two extra days worth of food so I could push it back to tomorrow. (That being said, my coach wasn't keen on me skipping, I need to have the accountability, but it just happened to be one of those weeks!)
  • I agree with Scorbett - that is absurd kimo88.

And really, does your coach think you're an infant and need to be spoon fed?
  • Yeah, at my next weight in I'm just going to be firm that I need to have more variety or I will have an issue. My clinic offers a few individual choices but not many. I wish that there was an option to buy individual packets of everything, then this wouldn't be a problem. I'm just glad to know that this is a one off situation. I didn't want to push the issue if that's how all the clinics worked.

If there was another clinic nearby I would definitely be considering switching...unfortunately I live in a small town so the option just isn't there. In the new year I think my mom will also be on the program so we could gain variety by each buying different packs every week...but I don't think it's right that I need a diet buddy to get variety.

    Thanks for the input everyone!!
  • Hi Teags and others! I'm so glad I found this thread. I started IP on 11/13/14, so that puts me just past the two-week mark, but I've only had one official weigh in since starting. My coach didn't bring his scale on Monday and explained that he gave us all a pass for Thanksgiving, but didn't tell us ahead of time. I didn't cheat at all so was actually looking forward to that weigh in. Did anyone else's coach do this? I was a little disappointed, I find the weigh-ins so motivating!

I'm a law student in the Boston area getting married in September, and I'm completely committed to IP. Not because of the wedding really, but it's a good concrete deadline. My mom and I are doing it together.

I lost 6.5 in week 1 and (based on my home scale) I think 3.5 in week 2? We'll see what week 3 brings!
  • That's a bummer about the weigh in!! For a program that is about 100% commitment you would think that no passes should be given for any holiday! I'm in Canada so our thanksgiving was October so I can't comment on what my coach would have done. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, what a great motivator!! And congrats on the losses!
  • Thanks kimo! I'm glad my mom found IP in time for both of us to get on program and then off again in time to have some wedding champagne!

WOW ... My clinic let me buy my whole month at my first weigh in but I think they also understand I wanted to purchase it while I had the money because I can only buy products off of my 2nd check each month.

I would question why you can't spend your money how you want ... obviously if you purchase 6 boxes you shouldnt need to purchase anything else for 2 weeks.

We are just about moving along the same .. I started on the 17th. As far as Thanksgiving goes I went to my weigh in and my coach said she was shocked I came ... everyone else either canceled their appointements, completely blew the day and/or gained weight ... NOT ME THOUGH I LOSS AND sadly went off plan a little on Thanksgiving! I'm glad I went because whether the scale went up or down I knew what I did and I knew how to fix it and get back on track!!

Congrats on your journey thus far!
