Denise: Wow! I'm so sorry to hear about TJ's diagnosis and glad you're seeing the specialist so quickly. Sending lots of positive & healing thoughts to you and your family.

And you look GORGEOUS!!!!

lv2ski2004: Metaquick sounds like a good idea--that should get the scale moving again :)

I have been following the diet until last friday night and I only had a piece of bread and one small serving of ice cream. I average about 3-4 HNS a day depending. I have been on this site for a few days now and I have already found a lot of encouragement. But I am still having trouble keeping 100% focused. I am trying and I will not give up. I was just hoping to be thinner and down at least 25 pounds by now in stead of 13.

I found it harder the 2nd time around as well - I had some legitimate issues but I used those issues as excuses to not stick to plan as well, instead of sticking to it more closely like I needed to.

Are you exercising? If not, this is a good time to start, or to bump it up a little.

So, I have an interesting story to tell. TJ, Amiri and I went up to the mountains on Friday night and by Saturday morning had to take TJ to the hospital because he was in extreme pain. He ended up being diagnosed with Sickle Cell and we had to get off the mountain immediately because his spleen was enlarged and could have ruptured (his liver was compromised also). So, down the mountain we went and got him into the local hospital. He got out on Sunday but we have to go see a specialist on Thursday so we can understand this whole thing as it pertains to our life.... So, crazy huh? Oh, I gave you all the short and sweet story of course! I just can't believe at 45 yrs old we find this out! Wow.....

I lost another lb, and have just a couple left to my goal. My program is up at the end of Feb so wherever I end up then, is where I'll be!

Have a great day everyone!

Geez louise, Denise! Love your pic, you look great! But I hate that you got the bad news about TJ, though, and in such a scary way. Hopefully there'll be some good news from the specialist.

ok so i wanted to see how bad i've screwed up...

Sunday - i forgot the fruit at lunch cuz i was in a hurry to get to my BF's house - and for dinner they had pizza but his mom *she's so sweet* had a turkey burger in her fridge that she had her hubby grill extra's for her to have whenever and she gave it to me - so i didn't have enough protein, had two pieces of that 45 cal bread instead of one and not even close to 8 oz of veggies *lettuce and tomatos on the "burger"* I'm guessing it was closer to like 4 oz's. and a piece of that fake fat free american cheese...

Then monday i didn't get all my veggies for dinner either.. i'm guessing about 4 oz's.

then today we got sleet and snow so i didn't have time to drive home for lunch so i stopped at subway for an oven roasted chicken breast salad. i'm sure that wasn't 6 oz of chicken and there was more than 8 oz of veggies in there but i only got the lettuce, tomato's and cucumber and the olive oil & vinegar for the dressing and apples too. but they put those club crackers in there and i used one of them to get all the lettuce and didn't resist the temptation, i ate the cracker.... didn't have a hns with me either so i had it with dinner tonight which was COMPLETELY back on plan....

so how bad is that gonna screw me up? they said if you eat anything not on the program that you're off for FOUR DAYS and that cracker wasn't worth 4 days that's for sure but none of this messed up weekend was worth four days.... my center closed at 4 and called my house phone to lve me a msg saying not to come in which did me NO good cuz i was at work and left work early to get to the center for WI, in the snow, in rush hour traffic,... BLA! add to that that it's my TOM so i'm sure i'm not going to lose a thing this week. :( so what do y'all think?

fattrimmer 01-27-2009 09:45 PM

Lots of new faces. I had stopped program last october due to my mother being ill and being too busy to prepare my meals. So... I am back and ready. I have started some therapy to see why I eat and try to change that, along with healthy eating.
So glad I have the support of the website!
Denise you look great. This time around I am going to take your advice and not cheat. I think it will make a huge difference.
Also I am taking Meemo's advice and am exercising.

WI today, and have lost 4 pounds since last Wednesday! Woohoo! I'm sure most of it is water weight, but I'll take it. They did my measurements and I am down 16.75 inches :) The ribbon that they give you is very satisfying. I had a loooong session with my counselor and she asked, "How are you going to reward yourself for you WL this week?" and I honestly had to say that normally I would have rewarded myself with a food treat. We talked about alternatives, and I came home and took a nice nap instead...which was good, since when I woke up it was dinner time. I'm back on Green tomorrow, though I have mixed feelings about it. The MetaQuick is soooo convenient, and I hate having to choke down eggs in the morning. I did my first Ketosis Strip, which was beige not pink. I'm still not convinced that the program keeps all of us in a constant state of ketosis, because I have been extremely good, but apparently the ketones are not flowing. I'm totally fine with it since I am losing, but it is a bit discouraging. My blood pressure has been on the low side since I started in mid December. My center says it's still in the normal range, but I don't know what might be causing it. Hopefully I'm just uber healthy! My friend at work just 'graduated' into stablization...I'm so jealous! He looks amazing.

Rocki 01-28-2009 07:13 AM

WOW Denise, how scary! TJ is your hubby, right? I know you'll be getting more information in the next few days, but will you have Amiri tested as well? I wasn't sure if that is hereditary or not. I hope things are okay!

I hope TJ is doing better. I'm sure you will find out lots more information when you see the specialist. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Also, Congrats on the continue weight loss. I love the new picture!!

Very scary! TJ is my husband, yes... and I'm having Amiri tested next week because Sickle Cell is genetic.

Thank you for your support!

Thanks to everyone for their support, it means so much.

I'm happy to see you back and I'm glad that you're doing the therapy. I think you will learn a lot about yourself! Really use this time to work on you and be good to yourself. You deserve it.

I don't think that sounds awful; I think maybe the extra piece of bread and the crackers might slow you down but don't even continue to think about it. Just move on and get back on track. What's done is done. Just start fresh.

Don't beat yourself up - sometimes we just do the best we can with the choices we have. You didn't gain any fat from those choices - you might have picked up a little water weight, though, which will come off quickly if you stick to plan now & drink a little extra water. The consultants know we're human & it's a rare MRCer who doesn't stray a bit occasionally, either voluntarily (like me) or because they have no choice. And believe me, no one ever gained weight from eating more than 8 oz of lettuce, tomatoes & cukes! ;)

ford4life69 01-28-2009 12:53 PM

thanks guys. i'm only on my third week on menu and my scales at home have levelled off. i've got half day off tmw and all day friday so i'm going to go in then for just one WI this week. talked to my consultant this morning and she said that just one WI this week wld be fine since the weather's all hinky. she recommended trying to get 80 oz of water to fight against the TOM bloat and that's only one more bottle that i've been getting and i've been getting that half the days anyway just cuz i'm using water to fight the late night munchies! i'm more worried about that stupid cracker but then i don't think i've ever gone through a real platuea either so maybe that's the deal. i KNOW i've lost inches because of my clothes and i'm kinda curious so i might ask them to measure just to see what those numbers are looking like...

thanks for reminding me i'm human too. i tend to not like to remember that fact and expect too much from myself. :D
