I had an NSV yesterday. Everyone has been telling me that I am wearing my pants WAY TOO BIG, but I thought they looked fine. I went yesterday and bought size 20s. I was pretty excited. I still have a long way to go in terms of weight loss, but it was really encouraging. Once I had on the size 20s I realized that the 24s I wore in were absurd looking.

I see a counselor for weight loss as well and one of the things that she told me recently is that you will have an easier time getting your mind to catch up with your body if you wear clothes that fit you. It drastically changes your impression of yourself.

I absolutely agree! Everytime I have had a major plateau, I've gone through the closet and tried everything on . . . . got rid of anything big and suprised myself by getting into clothes I preceived as being too small. Then I would have a major run of losses again. BTW, I was very fortunate to have friends on the program who traded clothes. They went to the goodwill and bought things, then passes them through the group. It really helped with the cost of clothing. I would just have clothing fairy boxes show up on my door. It felt good to pass them onto othere too. The goodwill and salvation army is filled with really nice things in our area.

Congratulations on the great loss!! You will be signing the 60 lb board at your next wi!!

I hope you are feeling better soon! I loved your post about your pants being too big. We are close in weight and I started out in 24s and now down to 20s but I was still wearing 2 pairs of jeans in 24s. I decided to try the 22's (I have a closet that ranges from a couple of 6's to 24's) and they fit a little loose too so went to the 20s. My husbands said "you look so much better in those jeans that the ones you have been wearing" and they truly did! I feel like I skipped right by the 22s!

Way to go! You'll be out of the W's before you know it. I started in a 24W too. I love being in an 8 - I size I don't ever remember wearing before!

I'm glad to see there are others who have "discovered" Goodwill and the Salvation Army. You should see the petite size 8 tan trench coat I scored. It was like brand new, marked $10.99. I went in on Saturday (50% off all pink tags - which it was!), then got the senior discount (50 and older). I can't pass by a great bargain, plus I've had so many compliments when I wear it. :yay:

I LOVE Goodwill! I don't generally go in there searching for clothes (if I do I don't find anything!) but I've stumbled over some great buys. I found the cutest tweedy jacket - it must've been part of a suit at one point (from Casual Corner) but the skirt wasn't there. It's a white/cream background with pinks - so cute with jeans. I wore it into the center recently & they were all gushing over it. I think it was just a couple of dollars. And I found a Tommy Bahama long swimsuit cover-up skirt thing a couple of years ago. And I tried on a trench coat but something wasn't right when I tried it on, I don't even remember what it was, maybe it had ginormous shoulder pads. One of those things that was cuter on the rack than on my body.

I have been shopping in plus size clothing stores for so long I can't remember
the last time I was in a regular store! It will be nice not to have to buy all my clothes from Lane Bryant (although I do think they have nice clothes). Its just so limited! How many months do you think it took for you to get from 24 down to a 12? I love to see you making such amazing progress because you totally give me hope!

Hi Everyone! I weighed in this morning and I have officially lost 20lbs. :D I got to sign the board today. Although I signed the board, I only lost 1.2lbs this week. I was "too busy" to work out and my TOM should be any day. I hope to get back to my average 3lbs/week next week. AND I am not going to be "too busy" to work out. I am going to make a promise to myself to "find the time" to work out!!

I started out at 238.5 and am 5'5" like you but I'm a definite pear shape. Lots bigger on my lower half compared to the top half. I was in a 20W pants. I'm in 16's now but they are starting to sag a little. I tried on a pair of 14's the other day. It will probably be another 5lbs or so before I could wear them in public :0) In the beginning it seemed I wasn't going through the sizes very quickly but now it seems like its going much faster (the paper-towel theory is true!). I feel like I just bought the 16's. I'm sure it was between Thanksgiving and Christmas sometime. You're doing great!! You'll be out of the W's pretty soon!

I got to sign the 50lb. board today! I felt a little like I cheated though. I had to exercise before my WI today when I normally do it after. I felt like it probably made me weigh lighter than I should have. Oh well, I guess I'll take it anyway! Hopefully it won't mess up my next weigh in :)

Oh my gosh! That's awesome! I can't wait to sign the 50lb board. I don't think working out before your weigh in will affect next WI. Wow! Great job!:high:

AWESOME accomplishment! Congratulations on signing the 50 lb board! That is just a major milestone and I'm so happy for you. It doesn't matter how you get there as long as you get there. :)
