Hello! I have an appt at 830am in the morning for a consultation at the local MRC. I have spent the last 2 nights reading all your posts and am getting pretty excited about getting started. I have tried almost everything out there but MRC is new to me. I've had successes and failures but am looking for something that I can live with...hoping this is it. I have 45 lbs to lose and can't believe I have let that much weight creep on...how does that happen?

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and see if anyone had some words of wisdom as I prepare to embark on this journey???

Cindy

I take Excedrin in the morning or Advil at night if i have a mild headache, and only rely on my prescription if I am getting a bad migraine or the over the counter stuff isn't working. I can't worry about the caffeine in the Excedrin or the water retention of the Advil - I would rather lose a tiny bit slower than suffer through headaches daily. I agree with Meemo, do what works!

Well, well, well. Again, it's good to see familiar names and faces. It's so embarrassing to have messed up so badly again and to, once again, be here trying to reconnect. I've made an appointment to go back to my MRC center (or as Sam hears and says it, "the Mercy Center") on Tuesday to see if I can't kick start myself and get back on track. Our wedding is May 30 and it just isn't acceptable to me to be weighing 200 again. Life is so sweet these days and love is so joyful. I just need to do this to take care of myself. Anyway, here I am again, ONE MORE TIME.

Welcome back - good to "see" you, and wonderful to hear that you and Sam are getting married!!! What a lovely incentive to keep you on track

Good Morning All!

I have had the greatest thing happen... my dh joined MRC on Thursday night! He was shocked on how much he weighed, but he says that he will drop the weight off quickly. Being male, he probably will.

Also I broke my plateau this morning!! I had over 2 weeks of up and down, with no cheating. I was very frustrated when I went into the center this morning because my home scale showed me up one pound, but, I lost 3.8! Woo Hoo, I am a happy momma!

Later,
Jeanne in Jax

Congratulations for hanging in there and for breaking that plateau! It is very frustrating when the scale refuses to budge and you're doing all the right things. I bet you have some nice losses now! :bravo:

Congrats Jeanne! That is great news.

I went for my consultation this morning and am starting my PreConditioning today. It is very exciting to think about dropping this weight. I am worried that I can't do it...I've failed on so many diets.

Great job! It is hard when you're stick in a plateau but think of it as a test.... I feel like it's my body's way of seeing how bad I really want this. So, I take it like a challenge.

How great!!! That will be wonderful to be able to do the program with your husband. You'll be able to support each other much more now.

Congrats on breaking your plateau! And, great loss on top of it too!

Oh my gosh! It's so wonderful to see you back! Don't be embarrassed, just jump back in and move on. I'm so happy you are getting married to Sam. Wonderful news! You are in a great place!

So we went to the specialist on Thursday afternoon. He looked over all of the previous tests that had been done, and examined TJ. He feels confident that TJ has the Sickle Cell Trait, not the disease but to be sure has ordered some more detailed tests to determine the extent of Sickle Cell as well as determine if he has any additional "defects" (lol). The reason he feels this way, is because TJ has never had any previous issues and he (the Dr) has great knowledge of Sickle Cell studies done with altitude and dehydration (which he believes was the cause behind TJ's "crisis"). The Sickle Cell "crisis" TJ had in the mountains did appear to cause what they call spleenic infarction, which is when a small piece of the spleen dies off from the sickle cells blocking blood flow to the spleen but the Dr said that is a common occurrence during "crisis" and that is not something we need to be concerned with. It only becomes an issue when it continues to happen, then they would remove the spleen altogether. However, the pain TJ is having is because of this and the Dr advised this may take a few weeks to return to normal. The blood work TJ did yesterday will take a couple of week to get the results, then we will be able to say exactly what we are looking at but we are all feeling really good about everything at this point. The difference between having Sickle Cell Trait and Sickle Cell Disease is huge. It means not having to make any drastic lifestyle/environment changes, and our love will continue to be with us for a very long time.

Thank you all for your support, it means the world to us!

Other great news also. I lost 3.5lbs this week and hit my goal (exceeded it by 1lb) so WHOA! My program isn't up until the 26th of Feb so I'm going to just keep plugging away until the end and wherever I end, is where I'll be! I'm so pumped. I'm thrilled. Just think, when I get to 177lbs lost I can say I've lost 1/2 of myself! What a journey this has been.

Denise: :congrat: WOO HOO! A big congratulations! I can't think of anyone I know who has worked harder for this and has been the inspiration for so many of us. You looked great when I saw you on Thursday.

And I'm so thankful TJ is doing well. You'll have to let us all know the results of the blood tests.
