Thanks Seeking! I'm still shocked that I did it. When I was on Weight Watchers I would have dipped into my extra weekly points for mac and chez...no way I would've missed out on it! LOL

We'll see how long this new found willpower lasts.

SchoonCR posted about this a couple days back - I'll see if I can find the post and link to it.

I was really fatigued on days 4-5 (maybe it's different for everyone??) I'm feeling better now...but for those couple days it was tough.

Hi, good job on going in the right direction. Fatigue and muscle aches are normally when you first start in on a lower carb diet. The glycogen stores in the muscles are being depleted, and your body is adjusting to having to look to fat for energy rather than the easy access carbs and glyc.

I would take it as good news, but also make SURE you are getting a TON of water. TRY to get 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water each day. Make it a goal to work up to that. It really will make a huge difference in how you feel.

Seeking - here's the post from SchoonCR I was thinking of.

Thank you for the info, and thank SchoonCR for knowing stuff like that. Sometimes I need reminding that my body was soo dependent on easy sugar for energy and now it has to work off the fat to get it. That guy is losing weight way too fast though. NOT FAIR (that is my extreme jealousy talking)! He has kicked butt on this diet. Very inspiring.

And while this isn't officially a "low carb" plan, it's definitely lower in carbs that the typical American diet - certainly lower than the food pyramid. There's an article circulating in the low-carb world that talks about it being more difficult for some people the second time around...

Thanks for sharing this - very interesting!

Yeah, when I tried Atkins I read some books about how low carb diets work. They talked about how diet and then going back to regular eating makes it harder the next time because your body is programmed to store the fat for the "lean" period because it thinks you will have fat again soon. Pretty interesting stuff and it makes a lot of sense. We have all tried soo many diets, it is no wonder many of them don't work.

I am having the same problem and after SchoonCR recommended the water, I increased mine and think I'm starting to feel better today. My center is also recommending the liquid minerals so going to try that too.

Mmmmm!

Just finished a Custard Creme with Toffee Bits HNS. Has anybody else tried these? OMG!!! They are the best creamy I've ever had. Crazy thick. I have to add more water than recommended.

Hubby is fixing a frozen margarita. I guess it's time for me to go sit in bed & read. He knows it bothers me, keep saying he'll stop drinking them (in almost a threatening manner), but he doesn't. He doesn't like it when I go to another room either, but what am I supposed to do?

I know I shouldn't, but I have to reward myself tomorrow eve. I think 6 weeks of not eating anything I really wanted warrants a little splurge. It will not be the splurge I would have had 6 weeks ago, but it will make me happy!

Happy weekend to everyone and have a great time!

Have fun this weekend! Keep your great "loss" in the bubble...it always helps me from making too many "extra fun" choices! :)

Personally...I'd keep going to another room! He knows how you feel...he'll stop when he misses you enough! Ha! Then...share your yummy creamy with him as his reward! :)

Thanks Meemo, the "carb" article was "right on" for me!

Anyone have any tips. I can do anything for these weeks ahead - that's not it, but I really enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings at times. Thanks again...

Officially, wine comes back into play when you get to maintenance.

Unofficially - I had a glass of wine or two while I was losing, very seldom, tho. First one was probably on our anniversary, I was almost at goal at that point. I'm sure I had some while I was stabilizing. Don't think there's much difference between red vs white.

You'll go through that pound quickly! I've certainly had that happen a few times over the last few months. The first time I went up I have to admit, I did get upset, but now I just let it pass. I mean, if you are OP there's not much you can do differently!

I love wine, too, but I just gave it up until this is over. Every now and then, I would really like a glass of wine, but so far I haven't given in. We are going on vacation at the end of Sept. and I have always planned to drink alcohol then if I want to. I think because I've had a planned cheat on my schedule that that has actually helped me hold off. Quite honestly, once I really upped my water intake ( I drink 128 oz/day) that helped, too, because it takes me up until bedtime to drink all of that!!

YES! I love the Custard Creme. It is wonderful! The Dulce de Leche is good, too. Margaritas are a huge weakness for me--I don't think I could be in the same room either!!;)

Where did you get that HNS? That sounds right up my alley!
