I have to say, tho - for those who are really picky on veggies - this program must seem like a HUGE struggle. I can't imagine trying to do it not liking veggies. Then again, I'll be some people find they like veggies more than they thought they did.

And for whoever was finding their food to be bland - seasonings! Mrs Dash has several different varieties of salt-free seasonings. Use them! Spice that food up.

Are cherry tomatoes not allowed on the beige menu? I asked them at the clinic just Monday if when it said "raw tomatoes" that meant all kinds and she said yes. I've been eating some cherry tomatoes on my salads...uh oh...

I ate cherry tomatoes. i was never told I couldn't eat them. You will find a few centers differ on allowed foods. Mine is usually pretty strict, so if they said ok, then I would think you could have them!

I signed the 75 lb board and now am only 2 lbs away from the 80 lb board. It's exciting to start to get so close to my goal :D I haven't had a big drop like this in ages--I've just been kind of plodding slowly along--so it was a real thrill to see a substantial drop. Looking forward to measurements next week!

That is awesome, ESPECIALLY this far into your acheivement! Congrats!

Don't worry, I have the luck of the damned, and when we head to the beach this morning, we will act like a homing beacon for every bad weather system in the northern hemisphere.

Well, don't know what happened, but somehow I was down 4.5lbs this morning, and that is just since Monday. Measured me, and I have lost 8 inches since my last measurement a month ago, and what made me VERY happy... I have lost 18.5 lbs since july 29th, and 18 of those lbs were fat! :D

All that being said, I have gotten a good amount of excerice this week, and with our fridge being almost empty since we are leaving town, had the meal replacement shakes for dinner both of the last 2 nights. I think I am just very EMPTY right now... no way to lose 4lbs of fat in 4 days.

That put me within 6.5lbs of my goal weight, and she mentioned going onto stabilization. However, looking at my BF and BMI(which is now in the healthy range), I changed my goal weight to 220. I still have until Nov. 3rd in my 17weeks, so, with their agreement, I am going to start lifting weights heavier, and try to gain a few lbs of muscle to help with lowering my BF%. I'm at 24, 20 would be healthy for a male, and I would like to get into the 15% area by the new year.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, just happy to have good news before leaving town. Will start lifting while on vacation, and with a few bad meal choices, will be up next Wednesday, but that is just fine with me (JUST this one time!)

I thought I was the lone veggie lover around here. I can never get enough. I have huge, plastic serving bowls that I use as my salad bowls. When I'm not OP, I'll fill it to the top & eat every last bite. I only really care for the ones on the list anyway, so all the no-no's have never been a problem. Oh, except carrots--I can eat bags of those babies :dizzy:

How long have you been on the program?

dla 08-28-2008 01:01 PM

I had my first monthly measurement at the center this morning. I have lost 8 pounds of fat and 17 inches in just one month! I was pretty excited about that.

I was not excited about the fact that I am drinking 100 - 120 ounces of water each day and am still more than 5% dehydrated. They recommended upping it to 160 ounces...YIKES!!

About the MSM (sorry, I was thinking in the context of weight loss supplements, our center doesn't even list that as available there)... MSM/glucosamine/chondroitin, from what I have read and my chiropractor tells me, all do real well at working on preventing further damage to, and protecting the joints.

Is MRC selling it for another reason?

MRC sold it to me as support for skin elasticity - I was an easy sale when I signed up, I bought it all :) Man you are doing awesome, how long have you been on program and already made it so close to your goal, what did it take you 6 weeks? Have fun on your vacation

Silverbelle: I just checked with my favorite MRC counselor and any type of raw tomato is acceptable.

dla: You are really doing well. I'll bet you can really tell the difference with the way your clothes are fitting. :carrot:

I'm one of those who can't stand much of the veggies. I don't like lettuce, so force down spinach. Don't like cucumbers or other raw veggies, so have pretty much lived on broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and snow peas. And on that first menu, it took me about an hour and a half to choke down that much spinach for lunch, so I ended up lightly steaming the broccoli and cauliflower. I was so thrilled when I could have tomato.

WOW!! Great weight & measurement losses today!!! Congratulations to everyone. Just what we all need before a long weend.

I went to WI this morning and I am down 2.5 since Monday. That makes a total of 3 for my first week OP. YEAH! This helps so much with my motivation since I'm just getting started.

I also asked the center about my muscle fatigue and they recommended the liquid minerals. I'm going to give that a try and continue with the lots and lots of water.

DKRiley 08-28-2008 02:41 PM

Way to go on that 3lbs Rdy2lose

On and off for over four years now. I never really did maintenance though. I normally always eat from the menu, just changing quantities now and again. Vacations is what usually gets me.

I'll gain 10-15 lbs., go back OP and take it back off. I'd really like to get my 'comfort zone' smaller than that, but I can gain 10 over a bad weekend.

If you wanna keep it off, you have to do it forever. It really has to be a total lifestyle change and not just a diet.

2kiddos and Rdy2lose, I am starting day 4 and have already been through the gag phase. I dont know if the food is just too bland or what, but it is too much at lunch and dinner. I've started steaming veggies so that I only have to eat 4 oz instead of 8 raw. That worked a little. I guess I need something to give the food flavor. It also doesn't help that I am really picky with veggies.

Silverbelle - I use lots of Mrs. Dash on my veggies - perks them up just a little. Hang in there - on Day 5 the menu drops the salad at dinner...so at least not as many veggies. Don't get me wrong - I really do like veggies, and salads, but 16 oz of veggies a day was a lot! :) I can't wait until I can add tomatoes...I LOVE tomatoes!

Looking forward to my first "creamy" today....double chocolate pudding after dinner. :carrot:
