Three weeks of working out for at least an hour 5 days a week. 2 days -1 hour of turbo jam, 3 days- 1/2 hour eliptical and 1/2 hour of circuit weight training. I have gained about 1.5 pounds but my body fat percentage has gone down 2 points. My clothes are looser and I am already seeing definition in my arms. My thighs are feeling rock solid and I am alot less jiggily. I feel healthy and strong and I am becomming addicted to the post work out high.
I am quite discouraged that I have not lost any weight because I have been very careful with my eating, but I am seeing other results so I am going to keep at this. At this point I do not know if it is humanly possible for me to ever weigh 150. I really wish I could just get over this obsession with it. Just thought I would come out of hiding and post here.
Ljackson and everyone else... it is some sick joke that we lose weight.. then we have this saggy luggage hanging around so we start working out and toning... this then leads us to stop losing or gain weight.
I can absolutely understand your frustration.. from many posts I've read it seems each COD tries to discourage people from any type of muscle building etc. I was amazed that exercise was not mentioned at all as part of the program except for the wee bit in the binder.
Unfortunately we have all been raised with a numeric idea of perfection that we allow a scale to dictate to us.. all the lean body areas and toned muscles somehow do not shadow that big number in our minds.
No one can tell you you look great, to keep at it etc unless you believe it but hopefully how you are feeling and the 2 points you've lost in fat percentage will help.
I'm doing Pilates, on an eliptical machine and doing a body flex class as well and I'm actually AFRAID of exercising slowing my weight down.
Hopefully our health and tone bodies will help us get over our neuroses.. but know that many of us understand your thinking.. Congrats to all of you that are working hard at working out!
Lisa- I have a friend who lost about 30lbs and then was stuck at 170. She started working out and maintained her weight for months, all the while losing inches. She then spoke to a trainer who told her to kick up the cardio so she started doing cardio about 5 days a week and weight training 3 x a week - she started losing and is now 10-15lbs from her goal weight.
My counselor at the COD told me a similar story, she hit a 4 month plateau and then starting losing. Hang in there, it will happen!!
This doesnt really cound but.... my boyfriend and I took a walk a little bit ago around the downtown area I would say about a mile. It felt really good! Will get back to working out next week when I get home!!
I have not exercised in a very long time and desperately want to get started. I use to exercise regularly...way back in the day, and have long since told myself I didn't have time. I am going to start slow but am going to try to get on the eliptical trainer at least 20 minutes 5 days a week then gradually increase my time each week. This is my pledge for now!! I hope to add more to it as I get into the exercise groove.
