Lee Ann - I'm too lazy to search through the entire thread...what's the name of your DVD (assuming it's a DVD program)? This sounds a lot like how BFL (Body for Life) suggests folks train. I always thought it was the best way to train too.
As far as weight goes, I'm only 5'3" and while folks think a person my height should weight 115 lbs, I'm actually thin at 135 (thin means size 6). I'll be thrilled when I make it to goal of 145.
Joni--it's the Beachbody series called Power90--they have lots of DVD's--I have, and like, the Slim in 6 series, too--but the Power90 is GREAT!! You can check it out on Beachbody.com (I think).
I totally understand the weight/height/ ?norm? thing--there is NO NORM!!! We are all different. My center said 138 was my "optimal" weight--not true--been there and it wasn't great for me--too gaunt. I am only 5'6 and even though I don't have the "large frame" by most standards I am still large framed, broad backed, broad shoulders, etc. I would love love love to get to 150 but won't stress myself out over it. Glad to hear you feel the same. Really, only we can know what's best for us.
Lea Ann - thanks for the info - I'll be doing some virtual shopping later today!
Week 2, Day 2 of Couch to 5K - 25 minute walk/jog - total about 1.8 miles. 22 training sessions to go. Also did some upper body weight stuff. and sit ups. Also did 15 minutes on the evil stair machine and an extra 20 minutes of light walking (I was reading a good article in a magazine). I took out my heart monitor and during the jogging part of my run, it registered around 160, which I believe is good for a 48 year old.
Hello
Haven't checked in for a while i have been doing 2 hours each morning a combination of elliptical step machine and the bike with 20 mints weight and still doing the 1 hour of kickboxing 3 days a week. this morning i got up aching all over even though i believe i streched enough before and after my excersice routines yesterday, but i guess my body is telling me to give it a little rest so no gym today .
Went to the gym and did a Body Works class - that women killed me. She was a lunge lover and my legs were sore during class; I can only image what they'll feel like tomorrow....but, this all goes to prove I need to vary my routine and try different things.
Monday - Week 3/Day 1 of Couch to 5K - 25 minute walk/jog - total about 2 miles. 20 training sessions to go. The friend doing this with me is right on track, too. We can't train together so we email each other when we do our training. Virtual teamwork. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
I have committed to start working out 3 times a week starting tomorrow. I will be doing Turbo Jam at home. These cd's are from beach body to and I love them.
Wed, Oct 25
Did 3 miles on the treadmill (40 minutes) and UBWO (upper body workout).
Preparing for next 5K or 10K (depending on our mood that morning) on Nov 11.
Joni - I envy you training for your next race. In my mind I can run, but in reality I totally tank. 3 miles on the treadmill would take me forever - but I can take 2 Step classes in a row. Go figure.
Anyway, I'll join in here - yesterday I did a 60 minute Body Pump class. Muscles are starting to ache as I type.
Tonight is a 60 minute step class and then a Pilates/Yoga class.
