Many people don't loose at the 3 week mark. After the big losses in weeks 1 and 2, the body often tries to hold on to whatever it can to make up for the losses. It is likely just retained water.

It's great that you're asking questions and not panicking. The added pounds will almost certainly be gone by your 4 week weigh in.

I wouldn't change anything diet-wise until you see how things are on your next weigh in. But definitely work at always getting the full amount of water, and get your bowels moving.

bmc - For me cabbage = gassy / bloated, but that goes away

I second wahoo / HIS - stick to the protocol - I doubt a little Italian dressing caused this...but will say in all truthfulness, yellow mustard make a great salad dressing...or a little olive oil / salt / pepper (just in case)

Hi, I am new and I am starting week 2 today. This has really been a learning process and difficult to understand protocol. I hope i am posting in the right place for Ideal Protein Diet.

Hi and welcome! You got the right spot. If you have some questions it's best to take a look at the sticky links from page 1 of this thread first. That may answer a lot. There are lots of us here at all stages of the game from newbie to longtime maintainers.

Agree! Though my no loss occurred in week four (this round and last round). Having done this before, I know it won't be the last time it happens.

Hi bearcooper! Are you working with an official IP clinic, or doing the protocol on your own, with alternative products?

Hysteria
I never would have thought of using yellow mustard as a Salad Dressing. Before I started IP I used to go to subway and get their chicken chopped salad and use honeymustard as a dressing, now I do it with just salt and pepper. I'll have to try it with mustard sometime.

I assume yellow mustard is ok for phase 1. My protocol sheet only lists hot mustard but since yellow mustard is 0/0/0 I'm guessing it's ok to have.

Yes Manda 0/0/0 mustard of any type is fine.

Default Working with clinic

Hi I am working with a clinic. I think the process is kind of new to them also. On my Phase 1 sheet, my coach marked through the 4 cups of occasional vegetables and wrote 2, yet I haven't seen that on any of the other sheets. Very confusing. This is just week 2 for me. I prepared a meal tonight and didn't realize until after I ate that the chili paste I used had <1 carbs and <1 sugar. Do you think this will hurt anything?

I don't know why your coach would modify the program already, when you're only in week 2. This is one of the things that drives me crazy about IP, and one of the reasons I do the protocol on my own - the inconsistency between coaches/clinics.

I doubt the chili paste will make a huge difference. Official IP protocol says you can have 5 servings a day of 0/0/0 products, like water enhancers or Walden Farms products. Products with <1 carbs can technically have 0.9 carbs in them, so they can add up if you're not careful. I'd avoid it from here on out, just to be safe.

I think my clinic is kind of new to the program. I asked her why the protocol was changed and she said that was the new guidelines yet I haven't found that information anywhere. Also I wasn't given any information on the carb intake daily. So, that might be another reason I am confused.
The protocol was changed on my sheet on my first day. Also did not know you could only have 5 servings a day of Walden Farms.

I haven't heard a thing about new guidelines. As far as I know, the latest protocol sheet revision happened in March 2015, and it said 4 occasional veggies.

IP doesn't give you a target number for carb intake. They tell you to follow the protocol sheet, and when you do that, your carbs will be low enough to get you into ketosis. Generally, your carb intake per day will be under 40-50 grams if you follow the protocol.

The 5 servings of 0/0/0 products is one of those unwritten rules that a good coach will inform you of. I've heard that some coaches say only 2 servings.

Veggies are very important! This is already a VERY LOW calorie/carb diet and the veggies provided needed roughage and vitamins/minerals. I would probably not choose to eat all four cups of occasionals in one day, but spread over the week a max of 4c shouldn't cause a problem. There shouldn't be any tweaking for quite a while, if at all! Also the occasional veggies aren't required, just an option, so if tomato or Brussels sprouts aren't a favorite - no stress.

I might drop by my old clinic and see what's up lately (with the excuse of what to do in case of a reboot, lol) and get an updated list of GF packets too.

HI,
I was just wondering if any other Canadians have had luck finding Chayote or Rhubarb in their grocery stores. I've looked in a few different stores over the past month without any luck.
