Hi everyone I'm a newbie -- only on my second day OP. So far so good! I'm glad I found this community as I was nervous about receiving online support. There arent many forums that discuss IP that I could find!

Welcome! No need to be nervous. I am a big introvert, but I joined looking to learn and share. I have learned a lot here and hope I've shared a bit too to help others. It is not as active as it once was, but I still feel there are enough of us out there in one of the phases where we can continue to learn from and support each other. Congrats on starting a plan to help yourself and Good luck!

Hello Daily Chatters,

I am back into IP P1 for the 3rd time now. Had a good 12 days were I am down 12 pounds -- a good thing.

Longer term, my weight chart is a bit on the wild side with two successful runs with IP P1.
The first IP run in 2013 where I lost 77 pounds in 4.5 months.
Then a backslide where I gained it all back.
The second IP run in 2014-2015 where I lost 130 pounds in 14 months.
Then another backslide where I gained about half of it back
Now a 3rd time. Will the third time be the charm? I hope so.
I am a good dieter, but a not so great maintainer.
Always willing to try again, tho!

Thanks so much! I spent a good bit of the night browsing the forum and theres definetely lots of helpful resources. I was wondering if someone could direct me to a thread that discusses the best and the worst of the IP packets. I picked up food for two weeks and so far some have been major misses hehe

I suspect you may strike out on finding that as there has been a fair amount of chatter here about how people's taste buds are different or change over time.
Perhaps if you shared what were misses for you then we could understand your general likes and then we could recommend based upon those.

I am a creature of habit on don't need variety. For example, I have had the cream of chicken every day for lunch for last 5 months. And, my breakfast has been the pudding packets. Snack has been the chocolate drink mix packet baked as a cake. I posted the recipe for that not that long ago.

I really enjoyed the BBQ crisps, the RTD chocolate drinks along with oatmeal and pancakes. I like the dark chocolate pudding cups and rotini. I never ate any of the bars as I never allowed myself any restricted and this time, I picked the lowest carb packets which is why I only had those 3.

Ah, that makes sense. I think I'm going to end up like yourself and stick to 3 or 4 things. The only thing I've truly loathed so far was the mac n cheese, everything else I can deal with. And some I really liked, like the cappuccino drink and herb omelette.

May I ask why no restricted items? Just for the carb content? I do find that all three packets plus the protein and veggies is a lot of food.

Maybe try a bit more protein -- an extra chicken breast (clean) a day -- that would add only 100 calories and might give you a bit more pep

Also you might try taking a walk in the evenings, sometimes some air and movements helps with energy

Yes, because of carb count but also because sweets have been a trigger for me and I wanted to go cold turkey while doing this. It is probably illogical because the other packets are sweetened but those seem more like candy bars to me so those were the reasons. They just seemed like forbidden foods to me. But, don't get me wrong - plenty of folks here have lost with them. I just chose not to do so.

My coach suggested trying 4 oz of extra protein. So like 1 egg and 2 egg whites for instance.

Just a thought since we are at 507 posts... I'm on my tablet but perhaps someone else can start a new Daily Chat with a link back to this one.

Default HELP! Constipation on Ideal Protien

Hello everyone! I have been on IP for about 5/6 weeks and i have lost around 17 pounds (which I am very happy with). However, I have found that I am not regular at all. About once a week, just to help things along, I take 2 dulcolax pills, but I am now finding that I can not go without it. I have added a tablespoon of chia seeds a day, and when I log my food in MyFitnessPal, I hit the recommended fiber intake almost everyday. Help!!

I wish I could help you but I don't have any experience with this. From reading the boards here, it has been a common topic. You may want to search and see what you find. I know there has been a ton written here on this topic.

Hi All!

We're up to 500 on this thread, so I started a new one. Go ahead and migrate the discussion over there.

I did the best I could, placing links to helpful pages for newcomers. I'm open to more suggestions and refinements!

Have a great day, everyone!
