Welcome!

The daily chat and the 100%ers threads are your best resources for encouragement and ways to keep on track.

jo4applerose 04-28-2014 05:05 PM

Welcome. I have been reading and learning. My consultation is May 1st. I start the program, May 2nd. Love it that it is an all or nothing program, no room for slips or cheats. As Lisa said...100% follow threads. Good luck!!

Rayze 04-29-2014 10:31 PM

Hi! My consultation is May 6, starting May 7. Excited and nervous!

I started this week to. Another thing I do that helps me is Fitday. It a Free Online food/exercise tracking system... I'm a numbers person, so I like to see the charts and aily totals. You can customize your food in it... this took some time, but once I got all my IP foods in with cal, protein and carb.... your done. You can also enter in your weights and graph your progress. I share this info with my coach, she's never used it but cant wait to see :)

Mae5 05-01-2014 10:20 AM

Started today! Had a protein shake for breakfast and an herbal tea.
Nervous about te large Cal-Mag vitamins... Hard to swallow.
Anyone have the chills? Could be all the cold water I ve had all morning.

Mae5 05-01-2014 10:23 AM

Also wish they had an IP app... Would make journal inputs easier.

havestar 05-01-2014 11:01 AM

Do you NEED to have a consultation to start this program? Is it enough that I know I'm overweight, eat too much sugar/carbs, and can reverse engineer the packets to pretty similar stats until I'm ready to buy them on eBay or something?

Nevermind! I'm still breastfeeding, though my baby's on solids 3x a day + snacks, she still feeds quite often. I've been trying to wean her, but she doesn't really like formula. I guess I'll just try to eat healthier until she's weaned and then maybe I'll have changed my mind about a coach.

Mae5 05-02-2014 11:46 AM

Bad headache today and yesterday...know this is part of the process but I'm finding it hard to ignore it. Had some salt and lots of water...
No hunger or other problems just the headache...I hope by day 4 or 5 it is gone.

It will go away and in a week or two you will feel fabulous - lots of energy, no hunger or headaches! But the first week and a half can be rough. Hopefully you can take it easy, go to bed early or take naps... Hang in there!!!

Jennifer1979 05-05-2014 09:54 AM

I started on Tuesday - Arpril 29th.

By my scale, I seem to have lost 10 lbs! I'm actually excited to go for my weigh in tomorrow!

Mae5 05-06-2014 07:31 AM

Thanks. Feeling great the past two days. Headaches gone and no hunger. Scale says 6 pounds down since starting May 1st. Official weigh in will be May 9 so I m hoping to lose a few more pounds by then.
I have no desire to cheat right now... I know it is early, but I feel I can keep this up for a while. Had an omelette and steamed broccoli for lunch and was very full. Can t fit the salad in the past two days. Is that a problem?

Lettuce is not mandatory! (A few coaches "require" the lettuce, but it is not a must do in IP.)

That being said, there are several advantages to having lettuce:

* They add extra bulk when you are hungry
* They help keep you regular and avoid the Big C
* We often see our bigger losers are also eating lettuce/salads regularly

Remember, anything with lettuce in the name (iceberg, romaine, Boston, Bibb, etc) is a free food and does not count as your veggies (things you put in it do count). Spinach, field greens, arugula, etc are listed as select veggies and must be measured raw (just like meat) and all count as veggies!

Great feeling to be full and OP!

Started today

I started IP today.

I had originally planned to start last October. I went in for a consultation, bought my products, and then went home and made excuses why I couldn't start yet... and ended up not starting until now.

I went in to see the coach for a restart session yesterday and couldn't believe how many inches and pounds I have gained since my initial weigh in and measuring in October. :( I was so upset with myself when I seen the numbers that I decided not to wait until the weekend to start (my initial plan) and get right to it.

So here I am on Day 1. I have upped my water intake a lot so I've been spending the day running back and forth to the ladies room. I already made a small mistake (I had field greens for lunch, but was counting them as lettuce, not veggies), but other than that I think the first day is going great so far. My toastmaster's group had a potluck at our lunchtime session today and I didn't have one bite of anything. Usually that would be impossible for me, but I am feeling so committed to losing weight and getting healthier that it wasn't even tempting.

Good luck to everyone!

I have had "chills" but they are not cold chills, but kind of skin crawling chills and my face gets kind of warm (I have rosacea) and I feel shaky. I think it might be something in the vitamins. Almost the reaction I get when I take diet pills minus the hyper, heart-racing feeling. I've had a reaction to magnesium before - it made me itchy which is a side-effect. Could be that. Also, so little fat and carbs has got to make you feel kind of cold. I think we're just "detoxing".

So far by my scale I've lost 7 pounds and go for weigh-in on the 9th also. I have no desire to cheat and actually have trouble eating all the food! I have taken to grilling my romaine lettuce or cooking it in my soup with spinach and other veggies. It cuts down on the volume, ha! I hate the WF salad dressings for salad, although good for other things.

Good luck everyone. I hope we all have fantastic weigh-ins!

IP beginner

Hi All, I started IP on May 1st, my first WI is this friday, so far I am down about ten lbs according to my scale, ( very interested to see what their scale says at the clinic) I had a hard time with the IP lunches, so have been doing EAS carb control shakes and loving them! They had 17g protein, 1g carbs, 0g sugar and 0g fat..they seem to be hitting the spot for lunches, and are very filling.

I am also looking for subtitutions/alternatives for IP foods. I feel like a lot of the lunches are inedible...(chickan a la king in powder form from a packer:tape::tape:)

if anyone else would like to help try to be motivation for each other, let me know! good luck everyone:)

GlitterSlayer 05-07-2014 11:45 AM

I have my start up meeting tomorrow. Excited but nervous. I've been reading all the info in these threads. I Feel better knowing someone else is going through this with me. Sometimes I feel so alone in my weight. I have a feeling I wont feel like that anymore.

Mae5 05-07-2014 12:15 PM

I am the same way, feeling very full. I have been having babyspinach and peppers for lunch with lemon, super tasty. My energy levels are fantastic. I never took vitamins before so that may be why. I actually feel more alert and organized...and as it is I am super organized. :) Down 6.5....hoping to reach 8 or 8.5 by Friday. Will try adding another 8 oz of water or maybe 16. I haven 't tried the WF products yet...will probably pick up a package or bottle to try when I go in on Friday. Welcome Sotian! The important thing is you started...don't look back :) Together we can do this!!

NEW PHASE 1 SHEET?

Hi May Starters! I got wind that there might be a new P1 Protocol sheet. The latest we have in the files is Dec 3013. Anyone receive a newer sheet from their clinic (it says at the bottom of the sheet).

Thanks!!

Mandus 05-07-2014 09:32 PM

Hi Everyone!
I started May 2nd, so I'm finally getting over the fatigue and headaches. My mom referred me to IP, she's on her fourth week and almost 20lbs down, and never been able to lose.

My first WI is tomorrow so I'm excited to see the results. I've been 100% and I haven't stepped on a scale all week so it'll hopefully be a good number!

It's great to have a support system like this forum. I hope it can help me stay motivated!

A lot of people use My Fitness Pal -- most of the Ideal Protein stuff is on that one so saves you typing things in. I'm sure there are lots of good tracking apps out there -- it's definitely worth using for tracking and seeing progress

Mae5 05-08-2014 01:31 PM

Tomorrow the big weigh in! Waiting anxiously...was hoping for a bigger loss but a loss is a loss right? Having Lemon Ice Tea....not loving it. Very sweet.
Momotrips how did you get your ticker? for weight status?

Sparkles1212 05-08-2014 01:56 PM

Hi I started May 1st. I was used to carb cycling which worked well for me. I need to have the current knee replacement that I have, replaced again ASAP. I decided to try ip through my doctor hoping for better and faster weight loss. I had lost 10lbs the 2 weeks prior to starting IP.
I was a bit sad that I only lost 4lbs my first week on IP. I am not able to walk well due to my knee. So figuring out exercised are challenging.
Happy to have found this site. Love the creative receipes!
Looking forward to making friends and supporting each other.

May 5th 2014 starter here!

First time on this diet..I am encouraged by the weight loss my co worker and her husband had last week. Any other 5th starters?

IP virgin, day 1

Just started today with IP and am so excited. Like others, been drinking a ton of water and running to the ladies....:dizzy:

Was a little hungry a few times, actually heard my stomach growl, haven't heard that in years! That would have sent me running for a snack last week, today I tried to embrace it..........

I am looking forward to checking in and helping others and being helped...thank God for support groups.

Hi everyone! I started IP on 5/6/12. Hasn't been bad so far other than a horrible headache today but that may be due to weather changes. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and support each other on this journey.

jms78258 05-08-2014 09:27 PM

I start next week

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this site, and to the IP diet! I tried to start it about 3 weeks ago, and I REALLY STRUGGLED with the soups and the 2x/day food I could eat. I love the 1x/day food, though and wish I could eat it more!!! The bars & salt/vinegar chips are DELISH!!!

I'm really anxious to start, as I have about 65-70lbs to lose, and I want to follow this strictly since I know cheating is a BIG no-no. I just had a major event two weeks ago where many people in my association saw me (and lots of photos... ugh... I didn't realize how bad it had gotten!) My next big event is the first week of September, and I'd LOVE to really "wow" people with a weight-loss transformation.

Soooooo, in order to not cheat:

Anyone else had issues with the food and found ways to make the food tasty? :)

~Jenn

The salt & vinegar chips (not the ridges) are unrestricted so you can have them along with your restricted. Look at the first post of the daily chat and there are links to recipes, packet hacks, ideas for spicing things up, etc. So much good information!

HeatherFeather54 05-08-2014 09:31 PM

I am not really creative yet but I salt and put italian herbs on my broccoli. It is delicious, I actually crave them. I am only on day 3 so we will see how it goes.
My first weigh on is on the 16th.

They have me taking sugar free metamucel and stool softners. Anyone else taking these?

jo4applerose 05-08-2014 10:19 PM

First Weigh In but still no ketosis

My first weigh in was 6.7 down I lost muscle and gained body fat according to their fancy machine. I lost total 7 inches. I don't think it will continue to go like this. I know it is mostly a water loss because the scale dropped down to that in the third day of starting the diet. I never felt sick this week and the ketosis stix are all negative. Brand new test strips and using the first morning urine. I listened to Dr Wilkinson (IP spokes doctor) on his daily video for this subject...he claims we need to be around 40 grams or less but when I put my stats in My Fitness Pal my carbs are around 56. My coach said today that I cannot take away veggies or anything else. She checked my food journal...I am following 100% But I know this loss will not continue because when following the Atkins diet I have to be around 20 carbs to burn fat in ketosis. We will see how it goes...I dont want this to be like any other diet....I want the ketosis state...like they say in the videos at IP.....ketosis is your friend.:?::dizzy: Happy and discouraged at the same time.

Ruth Ann is right there are LOTS of good recipes and tips around this forum. It'll take you hours to go through them. I just had my first weigh in and I think seeing the pounds come off is a HUGE motivation. (seeing the scale last week made me nearly cry, this week almost laugh at the progress!)
What I've been doing is trying to include my veggies in with the protein packs even for lunch, I'm used to eating one thing and a lot of it for a meal so I put the veggies in the soup and it makes me feel like I had A LOT of soup, same thing with the omelettes the veggies really bulk it up and make me feel like I'm eating a lot more than I really am.

Also with the soups I've found that enhancing flavour is just a matter of spices. I usually boil or steam my veggies going in the soup with a whole bunch of spices so they add a little more flavour in the soups.

But yeah there are lots of tips on the forum on how to enhance flavours, I'm just a newbie myself.

Same Start Day

Hello Mandus...we have the same start date and same height and similar start weight 219 We are twins. haha:D I started last Friday as well. Good luck on WI tomorrow.

cass2ander 05-09-2014 08:34 AM

how's everyone doing? Any scale celebrations to report? I love hearing other's success :) I got my period today..... feeling like a bloated-fat-goat! up 4 lbs on the scale today.... I knew I shouldn't have stepped on it... but I'm slightly addicted. So... i'm drinking TONS of water, doing my skinny wrap and munching on celery... here's to Friday! LOL

kcandponies 05-09-2014 09:39 AM

I'm back and planning to start tomorrow. For the 20th time. I did 6 weeks in Sept/Oct last year and lost 15 pounds, but just couldn't stick with it. Been trying to get back on the diet since. Stepped on the scale this morning and saw the highest weight in years.....242......so I HAVE to do this.
My biggest obstacle is myself. I have been struggling with depression lately and trying meds/side effects/mood swings/over-eating has me in a really big funk. Like I said, I HAVE to do this. I am now too heavy to ride my horse. All of this combined is really hard on my resolve. But as the number on the scale climbs, everything gets worse.
The next few weeks will be a test - I am going on vacation (just to visit family) and Memorial day plans.

So.....here we go!!!

Karen

Scotian_Sweetie 05-09-2014 12:24 PM

Four days in and I am pretty happy with things so far. I have found the veggie/meat choices a bit tough, but am sure that will get better once I figure out more ways to cook them and once I get the ball rolling further. My biggest win so far is my energy levels! Last week I felt like I hit rock bottom. I was tired and just felt like crying. I considered checking in with my doctor to about it. This week, my energy has been higher and stable (no carb crashes!). Woo hoo! I did step on the scale and it's going down so that's a bonus :) !!

THANKS!!

I would STILL like to hear from a few of the others as to the date of your P1 sheet... unfortunately, not all coaches update their materials as quickly as others. So still curious if there is in fact a newer sheet. (Heard that from someone else on another forum, but was not able to get confirmation!)

jo4applerose 05-09-2014 04:02 PM

Thank you. I can stop whining now.....guess who is in ketosis. The whining alone an indication that ketosis was here. LOL I thought I 'd try one more time today and SNAPPO it was pink. Yayyy It took 8 days to show on the stix. So I am thrilled with that and a significant weight drop.
