Hi everyone.
I have restarted today after a few years off trying other things (unsuccessfully weight wise, though my fitness is now much better).... I've learned once and for all that carbs are not my friends.
I've been meaning to get back OP for awhile now - just hadn't quite made the leap - so, today is the day. Period. End-stop...IP is the one program that worked well for me in the past. ....looking forward to surviving the first week headaches & the joy of that first whoosh!!

New with a long way to go!

I started May 6! 12 pounds down after two weeks and doing great! 100% OP. So far, I haven't been impressed with my coach. She doesn't seem to get where I am coming from. She's tiny and when she went on the diet it was only for a month and she mentioned she lost too much in a month and had to go off. She is lucky, yes. But she has made several harsh comments about how much I have to lose. That being said, I am just not really counting on her for much help! I have 2 great co workers who were on it and had much success and I have learned SO much here! Glad to be on IP and feel that it IS working and there is hope!!

Congrats on your losses - you're doing awesome.

On your coach - if she is saying things that make you uncomfortable you need to tell her to stop. You pay her for coaching, not rudeness. If there's an owner, tell them and ask to switch coaches if possible. You are paying a great deal of money for a service, you deserve to be treated with respect.

Haha, have definitely been there, and even though it's not 100% OP, we've got to figure out the best possible option when sometimes we forget to bring lunch/ran out of time to cook/etc. I thought that was a great alternative and kudos to you for not giving up!

You can do low impact exercise like walking. I went kayaking on this this last weekend. I confirmed it with my coach.

Rayze 05-26-2014 09:07 PM

Started May 8. Lost 11.6 week 1 and 5.4 week 2. Sticking to plan 100%. I've been out to dinner a few times with no problem. I did take a pass on going out to breakfast this morning, couldn't think of good choices and did not want to blow my 8 oz of protein at 8 am!

KillerKandy 05-26-2014 11:20 PM

How is everyone's month going? Seeing as we are going into June (Crazy hey!)

Can you find another coach in your area to go to? My coach is tiny as well and I mentioned that I wanted tiny calves like her and her response was, "remember, I was on Ideal Protein to,they didn't always look like this, your will soon too". Very much a cheerleader. I've on,y met with her once but so far so good. You should feel cheered on by your coach, not chastised.

I want so badly to run but I'm still feeling very weak just walking up my stairs. My coach said after two weeks we will adjust the plan to include running, once my body adjusts.

tamila 05-27-2014 01:42 AM

Hey all! I started IP today. I'm doing the official IP protocol with a local coach. I had gastric bypass in 2009 and it was amazing--I went from 376 to 256. But then I got pregnant with my son 9 months out from surgery and then got pregnant with my daughter 9 months after my son was born.

I have been KILLING myself ever since my son was about 8 months old. I have tried so hard to lose weight. Running, paleo, super clean eating, more exercise--and no results. Long story short, after working with a nutritionist for months, she sent me to a naturopath. Tests there found that I have hypothyroidism and that I am very insulin resistant. My doctor doesn't normally recommend prepackaged foods but she loves this diet and has seen it heal people in situations like mine. I'm just really grateful to finally have an answer to why, no matter what I do, I just don't lose weight.

So...yeah! Started today! I have a bit of a headache but so far I feel like it's going ok. Because of the gastric bypass it's really hard for me to eat enough food but I'm working on it.

Anxiously waiting for weigh in

I weigh in tomorrow, wed the 28! I am so ready for it and need confirmation on the scale that this is working. I started last monday so first weigh in will be a little over one week of starting. I know I have to lose right??? but I don't feel any difference yet in clothes....patience is sometimes hard! I sat and cried, for about 5 min in my closet sun, when i was trying to pick out clothes to wear and only thing that fit me is my one pair of jeans and one shirt that barely fit in 93 degree weather! I am so desperately ready to have more than just one outfit to wear!

I have been sticking 100% OP and celebrate when i pass a chance up to cheat but then that feeling quickly leaves and my mind jumps back to the "I wish I could have that" and once again I am tortured! Just ready for signs that I am on the right track! Uggh!

If I am like this in week 1, how will i survive the other weeks??? Hope it gets easier! So mental!!!

Good luck with your weigh in - i bet you will be happily surprised!! It does get better - part of it is we are so used to eating and our behaviors - but after a while it feels good to eat the right food the cravings for the others go away

good luck! my next weigh in is Friday the 30th - i will be at one month, right now about 15 pounds down...:carrot:

So far still 100% OP! weigh in tomorrow and it will be my first! I can't believe June is knocking on the door! I fight the craving but for me I know it is mental because I am not hungry and will just see something and be like "oh i miss that" but each day I don't give in so I do a little happy dance!!!:carrot:

Julzfatnomore 05-27-2014 12:22 PM

Wednesday is my first weigh in as well. I am 100% plan compliant and hope for a good loss! fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone, can't "weight" to read your numbers ;)

Nicole12 05-27-2014 01:35 PM

First post, started May 5th

Hi Everyone, I started Monday May 5th and am on my 4th week 100% OP. I weighed in yesterday and am down 15 lbs in 3 weeks. My husband is also doing IP and he is down 33 lbs. I think doing doing this together has helped us both and we can celebrate each others successes.

My only worry is that because men lose weight faster, he may move into phase 2 before I do but I guess that will be something we work through when it happens.

I have been reading the IP forums since we started but decided to finally jump on and be a contributer.

Thank you all for your ideas as it has most certainly helped.

I am 2 weeks in and down 9 pounds!
I am losing faster than last time, and I am eating more this time, so I feel much better and think I can stick with it.......scratch that, I WILL stick with it!!

Everyone is doing so well. The first 2 months are awesome, just keep with it!

Oh Wow! We are!!! It will be awesome to compare!!! My weigh in is at 930! So ready!!! I need a nice drop!!

momotrips3 05-28-2014 11:23 AM

I have my third weigh-in today. It is a couple of days late because of the holiday, so I'm hoping for a good drop. Last week was only 1 pound because of a temporary "little c" which is unusual. This week I have been really busy and actually ended up not eating a whole bunch - still OP. My scale said 4 pounds this morning, but by the time noon rolls around, I'll be happy with 2.5-3 for a total of 14ish, but 15 would be a great milestone since May 1st!

I seem to be losing much more evenly than I have in the past with other diets. I usually get all drawn in the face really quickly, the top-down effect. Now I'm getting smaller all over, even my hips which are my stubborn area. Sweet! Anyone else notice this? This just feels different.

dnthomas83 05-28-2014 01:07 PM

First weigh in success!!

So I had my first weigh in today....drumroll....7.2lbs!!! My coach was so excited since I am starting on the lighter side with this diet. He said with my height and body fat where it is at, that I should be super proud of that number cause it is hard to do with my frame!! :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

That was the motivation I needed! That will hep me stay 100% OP now! My next weigh in is Monday so I am a little nervous since it will be 2 days shy of a week but they are rearranging all their appts to Monday now. In the meantime, I am doing the happy dance!:dizzy:

Anyone else weigh in today?

WOWOWOW!!! I weigh in today too, in a couple of hours. Congrats on an AWESOME first weigh in!

Rruthlyn 05-28-2014 01:23 PM

I started on 5/8 and I am down 7.6 pounds in 3 weeks. I'm losing about 2 pounds per week. Not as fast as everyone else but thankful - very thankful!

Keep it up! I'm only on day 2 so I can't speak from experience with IP here, but I think typically weight comes off slower the closer to goal you are. There is a thread people with 20 pounds or less to lose. You might should check it out. Maybe there will be people on there with experiences similar to yours.

Congrats to all the new losses! :high:

I weighed-in today and lost 5 pounds! That's a total of 16 since 5/1! I can't believe it. This is going almost too well. However, I agree that the consistent losses help so much to stay OP! It's going to be a great week! :crossed:
