Congrats to everyone on their losses this week. I am determined to stay OP 100% :)
I want to start trying some new recipes that I have read here. I have a question, if you use 2 egg whites to make the crispy cereal pancakes...since they are just egg whites and not whole eggs they do not count toward you ounces of protein that you can have at dinner , correct?

Correct, egg whites don't count. :)

At first I thought they were a no go too lol and I was super sad because I LOVE them! But knowing that I can makes this diet even easier ;)

I am so excited this morning I have to post! Had my WI yesterday and officially lost 1.4 pounds. Off my goal by 1.6 pounds which was a bummer cause I really thought I'd hit P2 last week. Told my coach that when my home scale hit goal I was switching right away and she agreed.

So last night I was really hungry - you know those times when you feel like you could eat anything and everything (didn't help that I went to the store and bought all the boys their superbowl stuff - go pats). BUT I stayed OP and got through the night. Long story short (kinda) I got on the scale this am and I am a whole pound under goal!!! So psyched!

I already took the chicken breast out of the freezer to defrost so I can have it for LUNCH!

Thanks to all of you for your support - the diet is hard but not unmanageable and staying OP is soooooo worth it!

Good Morning! Well, I've been chugging along with an average of 3+ pounds off a week, and now I think I'll screech to a crawl or stop for the next 10 days.

I suffer from chronic sinusitis infections partly due to inflammation and polyps in my sinus cavity over my eyes. I start to lose my sense of smell when it gets inflamed/irritated. Doctors are trying to figure out why. It's really frustrating. I've had 2 sinus surgeries in the past few years, they helped for a bit, but not long term.

Last week I knew it was starting again. I've had NO sense of smell for a month and my taste was starting to deaden. I was trying to put off another round of meds homeopathically, which I think helped for a while, but the sinus infection returned, BAD! As of yesterday, I'm on 40 mg of Prednisone for 10 DAYS to help reduce swelling. If you don't know, Prednisone is a cursed blessing. Works great, horrible side effects. Increases hunger, water retention, stomach irritation... I started Tuesday, had my WI on Wednesday, I was OP110% and lost 1.4 lbs. My coach/doctor, who coincidentally just finished a 5 day round of prednisone, gained 5 lbs!! Hes confident it was all water, but you feel so bloated. He was understanding, and just said expect weight loss to slow down the next ten days.

I know it's temporary, but it's going to be tough. For the first time in weeks, I was really hungry. Going to have to really be stringent the next 8days and not have any positive result on the scale! . Hopefully I'll be smelling soon!

Thanks for letting me express myself! You guys are the best group!

Pam

Hope you feel better soon! Sinus infections are the worst. Don't get yourself down if you do see a positive. Remember that once you are done with the prednisone, the weight will come off.

The DH has always wanted to see me as a blonde so I think I might have to surprise him when he gets home in 3 days. Have a fantastic day full of big and small victories everone!!!

Congratulations! I can't wait to get there!

Congratulations! Seeing people reach their goals is inspiring and affirms my decision to stay 100% OP.

I lost another 4lbs this week AND had an NSV. Went shopping for new jeans and went down 2 sizes. In all honesty the 16s are a little snug, but I wasn't going to spend money on something that may only fit nice for about a week or two.

Have a great OP weekend everyone!

Busymomx4 02-04-2012 10:11 AM

Good week-end everyone.

Down 2.4 this morning...getting closer to the 100 mark...hopefully next week.

Been working hard to try and find a surgeon that will work with medicare...not as easy as it sounds, they're all in private practice and don't want to deal with medicare. But last night, one of them answered me and gave me the name of the dr. that deals with a hospital with the number for a consultation so i'm super happy. I know i still have almost 50lbs left to lose but considering there's a 4-year waiting list, i figured i would get information now.

Have a restricted everyday this week, hopefully i won't regret it, otherwise boot camp next week, lol.

Congrats to all the losses this week :)

Congrats on the 4lbs and 2sizes. totally agree on buying snug, over the holidays i bought some pants and already couldn't wear them a few weeks later as they were too big.

So great to read this thread! I am a newbie and determined to stay OP. I need to learn to take care of myself in many ways. Staying true to the plan is one of the ways I want to affirm my commitment to that. It is not easy work to lose weight, but I made the decision to apply myself body, mind and soul to change in my life.

All the amazing weight loss mentioned! I so want to join in on that soon.

Congratulations on the 4lbs!

I'm just about ready to go buy a size 16 myself, but I think they might be a bit snug too, but at the same time the 18's are getting a little loose. I'm just waiting to hit the 100's then I will shop. Of course now my body has decided to tease me with onderland since I am so close. This week so far I haven't lost an oz.

Need encouragement

I have been having a hard time with the diet the past week or so. I'm losing weight, but I am just so sick of the food. I'm doing alternatives, I imagine IP might taste a little better, but I can't afford it (I can't really afford the alternatives either!). Anyway, I just feel like everything, except for dinner, just tastes fake, fake, fake. I have a hard time with substitutions - so pudding or pudding muffins are okay, but they don't really cut it. I had a protidiet pancake this morning with WF syrup, and I had to choke it down. I drink the EAS Carb Advantedge RTDs, which I like, but I'm hungry an hour later. I like the soy puffs, but of course can only have one of those a day, and they don't fill me up. Same with the OhYeah bars I've been having as a restricted - love the taste, but can only have one per day (and I have a feeling there's too much fat in them, compared to IP, so I might have to cut those out).

Just wondering how you keep going? The weight loss is motivating, but I'm a foodie and it's not so much that I want to cheat as it is that I just want to be done so I can eat real food again. I'm worried about when I do go into the maintenance phase as well, but I'm trying not to think about that until I cross that bridge.

Any encouraging words would be so helpful. Thanks!

I hear ya... its tough.. I too am doing alternatives and i understand what you mean by fake.. As a foodie you just want to eat all the real juicy tasting foods out there..I guess the only thing i do is stick to one thing in particular and choke it down..I try and see it as fuel not as food.. I try and think about it like " this is fuel for the body, i dont need to enjoy the taste of it..once it goes down, its going to help me get stronger and healthier"... For me.. i do better with less choices. I personally prefer to drink RTD-alternatives...I used to be hungry all the time, but i find if you drink lots of water and chew gum..that you will notice over the days that your stomach shrinks down in size and you will find yourself not so hungry anymore...We have to stop looking at food and eating as an activity and start looking at it as a basic necessity. For we used to look at it like it was something to do to occupy our time..well those days are over..

Keep going.. You can do it..and i can do it..from one ex-foodie to another...Keep on pressing in!

Y'all need to change y'all way of thinking...If you are still a "foodie" then you WILL have problems now and when you are in Maintenance. This is a lifestyle change and your life can no longer revolve around food. You have to find another "out" instead of food. You can not let food rule your life, you need to rule your life. Have too keep an open mind with different things to keep you occupied instead of always thinking about food and what you are missing out on.

I guess I just have a different way of looking at things now. Most of the food I used to eat now when I see someone eating makes me sick to my stomach because I know even though I really enjoyed those foods before, its those foods that made me the size I WAS and I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THAT SIZE....EVER!....I still have 61lbs left to go but I am not even thinking of the foods I will have once I go into maintenance, I think about the food I can have NOW and just be satisfied with it because I know this is how I will get MYSELF back, by eating this way. Once I am done I will still eat this way to a point. Because FOOD DOES NOT CONTROL ME ANY MORE.....I CONTROL ME and what goes INTO MY MOUTH!
