Ounces or grams would be just fine. Don't bother making the conversion, OK?
I am not sure what ours is in I think grams but will have a look tonight... that is if my dog didn't eat the plastic I left the garbage bag out.... darn...
I need to drop a line of 'help me' in this thread today. I woke up with a sore throat. I've been blessed most of this diet with great health and my worst fear is being sick on it. I tend to gravitate to comfort food when I'm sick...I'm pretty sure I'll be ok as it costs to much to 'cheat'.
ANYWHO, my question to all of you...if you've been sick on this diet, what medication do you take? Did any of you take the sugarfree halls/vicks, did it effect your losses very much? Do you have any tips to surviving a sore throat and subsquent head cold??
***hanging head in sadness to the next week...ugh
Ugghh...sorry you're feeling bad. The only medicine I ever took was ibuprofen, but then again, I am not much of a medicine taker. I was a comfort food eater when I was sick too. But I managed to tough through it and luckily didn't stay sick long. When I had a sore throat, I would have hot drinks or hot chicken broth.

Good to see you Juice! How wonderful of you to go to Phase 1 to support your wife!
Quick note. I'm on blackberry only so quoting is hard. I'm in NYC scheduled to go back to DC tomorrow afternoon. About to watch the press conf re: terror threat. I'm quite nervous. "Rail" has been mentioned a lot. I'm scheduled on Acela. Might rent car. Eating protein bar now and going to try to sleep. Good night all.

BRUMMIE - are you ok?? I saw the news about the earthquake on Vancouver Island. For those of you that haven't seen it, google "vancouver island earthquake". It looks big, but it happened almost 2 hours ago and I haven't heard much. It did look like it was deep (50 mi), but 6.7?? WOW.
I recall from a post a while back that you are in in Cowichan Bay (I remember from my train ride up towards Courtenay, but we stopped at Qualicum Beach).

We are all OK, no injuries or damaged buildings reported. It hit the west coast of the island and was felt all the way to the mainland. Scary!
When you follow up the weekly cheat day w/ a phase 1, are the rules for exercise the same as they were originally for phase 1?
I ask because I'm developing the excercise habit and have been doing higher impact. I was curious, because I'm technically no longer in ketosis since being in maintenance.

I have been "chatting" about this in the "Phase 2" thread, but thought I would pop in here and see if you experienced IPers had any words of advice and possibly some encouragement, because I need it!
I started this week at P2 to phase out for my vacation. Well, ever since Thursday (I WI in Wed), my 2nd day at P2, the scale has been up 1.6# and I can't seem to shake it. The ONLY thing that has changed has been the substituting of the lunch packet with protein.
My coach thinks it is water retention and I do notice that my rings are a little tighter, but to be honest, I am BUMMED! I totally thought that I would continue to lose weight on P2. Now on Wed. I start P3 and don't think I will be mentally able to handle it if/when the scale goes up again. Now I feel like I am losing 3 weeks on IP instead of the 1 for my vacation week.
I would love to know if anyone else has had this kind of experience. It seems like everyone else continues to lose on P2, so what is wrong with me???
My coach keeps calling and telling me to not worry about it and stay on course, but I AM worrying about it. And truthfully, I am tempted to veer off course. I won't, because I know it will make the situation even worse, but the thoughts are there.
Could use some support from my lovely 3FC buddies!

Jenny,
Thursday was only 48 hours ago!! Don't stress. You know your weight fluctuates day to day and now is no different. You are actually eating fewer carbs on phase II because meat has fewer carbs than a packet. I continued to lose on phase II but not every day. Don't worry. You know this program works. Just stay the course. You will be fine.

Although I haven't seen this in writing, common sense tells me that you will not go into starvation mode and burn muscle tissue in 1 day. You will have glycogen reserves to cover your workout. If you have the energy, I say go for it.

Thanks! Sometimes it just helps to "hear" the words. I get so inside of my head that it is sometimes hard to get out.
I also have this deep rooted fear that IP will stop working because that is what has happened to me on every other diet. So any time there is a little speed bump, I start thinking "ok, here is when THIS diet stops working". Does that make sense?

Definitely water retention. It isn't uncommon for this to happen. It usually will come off again if you just wait and stay on the program. During phase 2 you are getting your body use to digesting real foods again in larger quantities. Protein that is in animal protein form is not as easily digestible or fully utilized as the packet proteins. So, your body has to make the adjustment back to creating more of what is necessary to get to it. You also get fewer carbs as Woolberger mentioned. You might be surprised and lose in phase 3! If you keep gaining ( I doubt it) just go back to phase 1 and get to a weight that you want before you add back "stuff". I now know that I will need to be 7 to 8 pounds lighter than I want to be when in maintenance if I am going for a scale number and not a body fat percent or size.
2RIDE: I am sorry to hear you are starting to worry about you older dog. I can tell you love her very much. You are right. They do tell you when it is time.
Thanks for the liver treat recipe. It is great! My guys love it.
I can't remember who and can't see the post, someone asked about what to do when you have a cold. My advice, pretend you are a new diabetic. Ask the pharmacist what medicines they have for a diabetic to take when sick. ask if they have anything sugar free. Those are what you can use most successfully. Yes, I did find cough syrup and cough drops that worked.

I know others may not agree....I have been on the IP lifestyle since last September so I have experience with all different things. I was hard core (not a bite/lick/or taste) for 5 months straight and then I did another 4 months with perfect phase 1 between my planned trips. I took about 3 trips....I was phase 1 right up to all the trips because I did not want to lose any time losing weight....only the first time....did I knock myself out of ketosis two days before the trip so that I wouldn't be sick on vaca. do what feels right for you.
But with that said....most likely water retention like everyone has said. No worries...all good...relax...enjoy life and loved ones
