I hate it when that happens. Picking out carrots, red bell peppers, avacados that they don't list on the menu. Grrr. But it's nice just to go out to eat once in a while. Dr. Tran Tien's ebook suggest canceling all dinner dates. Yeah, right. Not going to happen for me, but thanks for the suggestion.

Coastalcrafter 07-15-2010 08:31 PM

thank you!

Thanks for you help!
I'm so inspired by all of you, and can't wait to get a 'weight loss tracker"

I am an emotional eater. Starches NOT sweets.. so I am hoping these pounds melt off...My son is getting married in a year from now and I would like to get an elegant long dress. I refuse to wear a 'tent with sequin jacket" .

well tommorrow's my first weigh in.. I'll post it.

anyone else been through this? what's a girl to do?:?:

Erin, you just made me decide we are the same person. I only have 7 ounces of meat, but 3 packs. Today I had a pack for breakfast. I went home on my lunch break, grilled up some mixed veggies, and sliced some pickles. By the time I finished cooking it was time to go back to work, so I wrapped it up and took it with me. I opened it up when I got back to work, took one bite, and felt like I was gonna barf. So I put it in the fridge, and opened up my pickles. I love pickles. I took one bite of that, and couldn't do anymore! I tried to grab some ranch and dip them, but that didn't work out either. Around 3 I finally managed to choke down another shake, and I had 2 slices of eggplant with spinach and tomato when I got home, but it's 7:30 and I haven't had meat or my other two cups of veggies. Or my third packet. And I am absolutely stuffed from the eggplant. :?:

And I am ALWAYS hot too. The air in here right now is set on 66, plus I have my ceiling fan and my floor fan going. And I'm in a tank top and shorts. And I'm still hot. :flame:

Don't know about ketosis. My guess is probably not. It would have been such a small amount that the additional carbs would also be a small number.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the choc. If you're going to go off protocol, have it be something you really enjoyed. I had a prepared salad today that had some sweet red peppers. I tried to avoid them as much as possible, easier than shredded carrots.

Way to go! :broc:

!

Love your enthusiasm! :carrot:

As I predicted (self-fulfilling prophecy?), my weight loss this week was less spectacular than other first weekers. Because I wanted to go through days 3,4,5 over a weekend, I did 2 days of low carb before my first IP weigh-in. I weighed significantly less than I expected, so I guess the lower carb approach works for me. The official number this week is 6.1. I'll probably measure the inches on WI-2, or after a month.

But since June 28 (the last time I weighed myself at home), I've dropped 15 lbs.

hahahaha! glad to hear i'm not the only one, i always felt like the odd man out because i'm never cold. must be the southern summers, i think i t was about 99 here today. agggh.

i just ate 5 oz of chicken and salad and a bar, i'm done. am officially in phase 2 but still would prefer to eat like phase 1. i'm stuffed, don't wanna move and miserable feeling, but i dread the idea of my body going into starvation and seeing the weight loss stop because of it. oh and by the way..my coach told me that if i don't get the whole 4 cups of veggies in, it'll be ok and it shouldn't stall the losses. they're mainly there to help keep you from getting constipated. interesting thing to know.
OH AND PEOPLE OUT THERE ACROSS THE WORLD!!
i just checked my new bmi for 164 and i am OFFICIALLY at 24.33!!!!!!! i started at overweight and (----) this close to obese and am now in a HEALTHY BMI! yip-to the eeeee!!

also my body fat showed on my scale a sec ago that it's at 28.1, so even though i've gone up since friday, my BF has gone down. yip-to the eeeeeeee again! started at a 34.4 BF and now comfortably in the healthy range!!

My coach told me not to worry about picking the carrots out of bagged salads but not to eat the bunch at the bottom of the bag. In other words, tiny slivers are OK. They won't throw you out of ketosis.

No, it shouldn't. I can't recall where on Dr Tran's site but, he mentions that after awhile on the program a SMALL.. really, small, amount will not effect ketosis.

I WISH!! I slept last night in a house at 75 degrees (bf likes colder) and I was beneath a sheet, one of those mid-weight cotton blankets, and one of those velour like insulating blankets (vellux was the original brand) AND, the blankets were doubled over because BF was too hot to even sleep under the sheet. I just freeze. :(

Erin, I have been and felt how you feel many times, it's been worst since in phase 2 that's why I totally felt like a pig today. I say just do it.

Coastalcrafter-I am here to tell you you've come to the right place. A year is plenty of time for you to get some serious results and have time to maintain and be comfortable with your new body. Lucky you!! I was excited but apprehensive when I was beginning this plan. We have all been around the block with diets- I prayed that this one wasn't too good to be true and so far, it isn't. I was hopeful then and now I am about 25 pounds away from my goal and feeling wonderful. Once you get to this point, suddenly everyone notices and you are the center of attention and getting more compliments than you've heard in years. Just stay the course. I promise it works and it works pretty darn easily compared to many other plans!!
Good Luck! Just picture yourself as the prettiest Mother of the Groom ever! ps- I am a real Yankee who just visited Maine and ate as much lobster as I could in 4 days...

Hey guys, hope you don't mind me asking a couple questions. The collective knowedge here seems to far surpass my coach, no offence to him - he's nice. I haven't been working out at all yet (I've been on IP 3 weeks) and I think I'd like to start. It sounds like most of you work out, do you know if it's better to start with cardio, or muscle building, or both? I have a good eliptical at home, but I know having more muscle will burn more fat. Any thoughts?

The other question is about carbs/calories. I asked my coach about how many carbs I should be having in a day and he didn't actually answer my question. It was more just a 'follow the plan and you'll be fine' type answer. When you are all talking about carbs, are you counting IP products plus whatever type of veggies you're eating for the day?

If there's a better place to ask these questions (different thread or something), please let me know and I'll happily repost there.

How much do you have to lose to go a size down?

I do have a question, wondering if i ate all of my 4 cups of veggies could you switch your dinner meat protein for a protein pack and have 4 packs instead of 3....any responses would be helpful. It would be a once in a while thing, definately not daily.

Hello friends, congrats on all the losses!
You are amazing. When I lost 50 lbs through WW, I only went from size 18 to 16. Good for you.

Some days I just have another shake instead of the meal just for convenience. So far, it has not affected me in a negative way.

i don't think most would recommend working out his early in phase 1. you'll burn too much muscle. try some light walkig if you feel the need to move but definitely don't hop on the treadmill at full speed. you'll go into starvation mode and stop losing.

btw, i haven't worked out once and have lost about 30 lbs in 2.5 months with a few cheat days. :)

Since I don't have a coach (none in this area), I've had to find what works for me on my own & with the info I've found on this forum... I can only tell you what's worked for me, so I think you should follow the advice your coach gives you...
I was already doing both cardio & strength training before I started IP & am glad I continued... I've adjusted my eating to keep from going into starvation mode & feel good all the time... I'm never hungry, in other words, but am steadily losing fat... even though IP preserves muscle, at my age (61), if I lost weight strictly by dieting, I'm afraid I'd just end up a bag of loose skin... exercise is building muscle, & that, I believe, will make a lot of difference in how I'll look & feel when I get to the final stages of IP... if you're young enough, your skin will probably be elastic enough & your muscles are probably still healthy & full & you might not need to workout... it's an individual thing & only you & your coach can make the decision...

hugs
