Jordanna,
I am so very happy for you and your family. That is truly amazing. So tonight I attended the "Big sky state games" opening ceremony here in Montana. Tomorrow morning I will be defending my gold medal in billiards. So for in Billiards I have 2gold 1silver 1bronze. I am so stinkin excited. I love to play pool. I shoot 2 nights a week during the fall winter season and one night during the summer. Plus we go to vegas every year for 12 days to shoot in nationals. Anyway enough about pool while I was at the opening ceremony tonight Aaron Tippen was performing. I got to meet him and have my pic taken and he signed my state games t shirt. It was super cool. I was not excpecting it at all. He is a really cool guy! Just thought I would share. for those of you who don't know who he is, he is a big country singer. I enjoy all types of music but I really do like him a lot. Plus his wife is from Montana so that makes it even cooler. |
Great news, Jordanna... I'm really happy for you... :cheer3:

I'm gonna be keeping you all in my prayers for a healthy happy pregnancy.  |
Hello Everyone! :)
Sitting her on the boat. I temporarily have taken over my father's laptop and m-ifi card. I guess I am addicted to you all! Not sure if I will find anothe quiet moment with computer access to sit and read posts. Although, I may try to just send an update here and there during the week. My flight went very well! It was smooth, no bumpiness, not overly crowded or hot. I loved fit in the seat with room to spare! Such a strange thing. I don't think I realize how much space I took in the world. It is so weird to be in similar situations and "feel" small. :) San Francisco is great! As expected I stepped out of the airport, shivered, promptly unpacked a sweater and put it on. LOL... oh well, cozy has its benefits too. We went to dinner at this great little diner near the Embarcadero, a place that has been around for 25 years (as of yesterday) and, where I remember eating 22 years ago ... the Fog City Diner. LOVED IT! I just went simple this time. I had a grilled chicken salad with cucumber, tomatoes, celery, romaine, lemon, WF bleu cheese. It worked. I was happy to see my Dad and Bonnie (step-mom) enjoying their meals. It really was nice to be back in a place I had such nice memories in. As we left the diner and drove to the Marina, we got to watch the fireworks from the Giants game, I guess they won. :) Sister got stranded in Richmond so, she will be arriving a bit later than planned. That means the morning at the farmers market alone. Oh well. I love those places. She will arrive by lunch and I am so looking forward to it! SO, the BIG... BIG.. news! I am back in my fat burning place. :flow2::flow2::flow2::flow2::flow2: I haven't felt this in 2 months! SERIOUSLY.. Just a dull slow thing was happening. I have been busting my but the past week to make shift. 2 nights ago I started to dream of food again. TODAY, I was sitting on the plane chatting and I got hit with this wave of nauseous, tin mouth taste, extreme thirst and headache. I feel.. tingly and jazzed again. WILD! I remember how this felt. I am so excited. I didn't want to eat when we went out. I was so worried, something, anything might take it away and I have worked so hard to get here! DARN IT ALL, I didn't bring a scale. GRR I can't wait to get home to weigh! Maybe this is a good thing. Maybe it will force me to be extra diligent on the trip so I may see the results! Worse part of today... in my rush to leave the house, my lovely pill pack, was left in the kitchen. BF is mailing it but I will be with out it for 3 days. May have to make a health food store stop to get something. I hope I will be excused, there is so much activity on the board today! Lots of threads and posts. I just am too tired to read it all and not sure when I will catch up. If there was something specificaly addressed to me and I have missed it, please PM me. I will check for PMs if nothing else. THANKS! Wishing everyone a great weekend! May we all see Lots of NSVS and Great losses next week Originally Posted by jordanna: Originally Posted by Coastalcrafter: Honestly, I think hair loss should be checked before just written off to stress loss or nutritional deficits. My hair fell out in hand fulls for about 2.5 months. Then about the time I knew what supplement to take, it was over. I shed very little now. My hair is longer, softer, and shiny. I expect, in the near future, it will be fuller too. You could try using NIOXIN hair products. I used this years ago with good results and ELIZABETH recommends it based on what she has seen it do for people. I haven't used it this time but, I am considering it. I truly understand your concern. I told my coach "I don't want to be the skinny bald girl!" Guess what, I'm not! Thin hair yes, uncomfortablly thin, uh huh. But, I can tell it is changing again. I don't expect this to be permanent and you shouldn't either. Originally Posted by Linden: I completely understand, as I type this with slightly blue nails! My coach would prefer never on that too. I just can't go there. Are you keeping a journal? You say what has your coach seen in the entries? Anything? I am very sensitive to sugars and, in the beggining even fennel can kick me out. I can't cook my red peppers ever, even a little. It was a real issue. To gain that much weight back in 1 month tells me your body is storing glucose and glycogen again. I could be wrong but it is a sound theory. Each gram of glycogen is stored with 4 grams of water. Expand that idea to pounds and you can see how quickly the weight is added. Unfortunately, that would mean you aren't in ketosis and something, food, carb, or your body is causing and increase. It is just about 4 weeks that we adapt to our ketosis and the gluconeogenesis is in full swing to stabilize blood sugar. That proces makes energy for our body using enzymes and aminos. Eating pure protein will still allow your body to increase its own glucose levels. Some people have a very hard time getting into ketosis and staying there. Most often it is due to a metabolic X issue. If you aren't sure if you have this you could speak with a doctor. This not so un common occurance is discussed on the Atkins diet and in another book, I have it at home and will email you next week, by an endocrinologist in Chandler, AZ who specializes in metabolic disorders. For these people, they have to do a very strict moderate to high protein diet with 30% or more of their daily food including FAT. They can't enter ketosis and stay in it without having the added fat. Their body is "too good at protecting itself from losing fat so, it has to be teased to give it up." They also have to avoid carbs. They have the lowest threshold for tolerating them and need to do without for longer than some others. Try adding more fat to your diet for awhile. Maybe go for 1oz whole milk instead of skim, it will give fat and trim carbs. Also, stay away from any veggies that have sweet or starchy elements. AVOID green soy beans. Too much starch and sugar in those. Don't eat too many of the cooke green veggies that turn to carbs... ie spinach. Increase your omega oils. Try going up to 1 or 2 tbsp a day. I know it is a large amount but it will increase your calories in a healthy way. And not effect ketosis if you get into it. Try not to eat more than 20g of protein at one time. Anything in excess of 20 g at a time is convert into sugar by the body for many people. That is because anything unusable is stored and the body can not quickly break down and USE more that 20g of protein at a time. If you are eating too much protein, you will feel good, but it is because you are having "false" sugar created. I hope that is a start. I will think of anything else I can and send you a message if I can. If not, I will pm you next sunday night with the book info and anything else I remember. Carla |

I guess I'm slowly coming off my food addiction. Praise God. :) Last night the fiance and I went to the movies and I was surrounded by popcorn and candy. I'm not going to lie- movies are hard to go to without popcorn for me. The little trick I used to get through the craving was that I thought about how each little kernel would equal a little dimple of cellulite on my thighs. We're going to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and the last thing I want it to be called the "cottage cheese thigh newly wed". |

I've noticed that 30 minutes after I eat the sweeter packets (pudding, drinks, cereal), my toes get numb and tingly. The feeling dissipates over the next hour or so. Is this a known reaction to either/both sweetener(s)? I'm testing my theory this weekend by using only the soup and omelets and may have evidence that acesulfame K or sucralose could be the cause of the numbness. |
Can someone tell me if you are allowed more than 2 tsp. of olive oil a day? I want to use olive oil and vinegar dressing on both my salads every day, but I've been afraid to do it.

Thanks to all for the exercise advice, I still need to learn the quoting thing.
I do like that this diet works without worrying about the exercise at the beginning, I guess there have been two things have made me consider it. First was this last WI was 1.8 lbs, not happy. WI#1 8.7lbs, WI#2 4.5lbs, and then WI#3 1.8lbs. SO dissapointing. Could be TOM related, I started 2 days after, but we'll have to wait till next week to see. And I was hungry a lot last week, not sure if that's good or bad, I didn't cheat I don't think. The other reason I'm considering working out is in a couple of weeks I'm going on a vacation with the hubby and kids, we're off to the mountains and we'll be doing hiking, I don't want to be rediculously out of shape. I want to feel good but we'll be carrying bags and kids so I know I need to be able to handle that. Those are my reasons behind thinking about starting. |
Calling all Canadians...
Quick questions for my fellow Canadians here, it's about ordering. I bought the last of the ready made IP pudding from my coach and thought since I liked those that I should try the powdered IP ones thinking they would taste the same, not! I would SO like to get my hands on some ready made ones. Have you found anything else here you can order that is comparable? I never tried the ready made IP drinks and he doesn't have any of those either now, but I would consider buying some of those too, I like how easy they are (I bought the Pure Protien cans from Extra Foods and they were just okay). Another Canadian on this site, I can't remember who, suggested a Dr.B's clinic but they don't have any in Manitoba, I checked. If anyone has some advice on this I would be very greatful.
Funny thing, I told my hubby how IP doesn't have the product right now because they're 'reformulating'. He laughed and said that's code for 'they lost their distributer'. Hmm, I wonder, my hubby is kind of a skeptic though. |
Nsv-tmi
Well I had an interesting NSV. Warning to the guys reading this thread, you may feel this is TMI.
During my shower (I have a full bath tub, shower assembly), I noticed shaving my legs that I could see the entire back of my thigh. By this I mean; I put my leg on the ledge of the tub and twist around. I guess I can twist a little farther (since some of the fat is missing from my waist) and my boo-tay isn't casting a shadow. Sorry I had to share, I was impressed :o. |
