Linden I only allow myself three restricteds per week since they are higher in carbs, sugar, fat and calories. I don't want to completely deprive myself, so I thought three a week was a good number... And I usually have them the first three days after my weigh-in.. Not sure if it makes a difference how close to my weigh-in I have them, but it makes sense to me. I didn't have any in my first 3 weeks and last week was the first week I had them, and I still lost 4 pounds. Maybe I would have still lost 4 if I had a restricted every day, but I'm sticking with my three a week regardless.. Hope this helps a bit..

You are so right deinekatze I seem to be shrinking by the minute but the scale is not showing the weight loss but the inches are as I train three times a week. All my clothes are falling off and I still have over 30 pounds to loose. I am thinking it might be too much as I am size 10 now. My coach has even commented that I do not look like I weigh 183 but I think the weight training has a lot to so with it.

Probably only the second time in my life I've been so diligent. (First time was when I was pregnant.) Twice now I've had good losses; and twice, over 30 days, I've gained back practically all the weight. Apparently I've gone into starvation mode. But [I]if[I] I follow protocol I can't seem to get above 800 calories a day.

My coach says add more protein. That will take me well over 100 grams of protein a day. And she has never seen this happen before. Please, if any of you have had a similar experience could you please share how you dealt with it? What you might have been advised? I really, really want to do this, and do it right.

Hi, Linden. You started at the same weight I did and have the same goal approximately. If you are in ketosis at 800 calories, you are not in starvation mode. If you are not in ketosis, then yes, you would be in starvation mode. I notice you are having a restricted item once a day. I did the same. But some people on here do better with a restricted item only 2-3 times per week. Carla's coach hasn't allowed her to have any restricted items at all yet. And she's been doing the diet for months. If you are having the bars, the sugar alcohols in them may be increasing your blood sugar too much. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. Also, maybe you are just suffering from constipation and need to try some of the magnesium citrate. Is your weight 169 like your tracker says or have you truly gained all the weight back? If it's 169, 15 pounds of weight loss since June isn't too shabby.

Keep up the good work and be sure to switch it around a bit (as in train muscles in other ways) if you do plateau... our bodies are smart and get used to out routines so we need to out smart them when that happens and switch things around a bit so things kick into gear ;-)

:DGeez, away for a day and it takes forever to read all the posts! Glad to hear about all the losses and NSVs. Must admit that I'm a little worried about this weekend. Going to Toronto for a wedding and I want to stick to IP protocol but it might be hard. I'm packing IP premade shakes and cut up veggies to store in the hotel mini-fridge. I really want a bigger loss on Monday night, so I'm going to work really hard at being good!

Hi, Christina, I use that product in addition to Lindora packets. I buy the natural unflavored because I can use it to increase the protein in my yogurt or other foods without changing their flavor. It costs $47.99 for a 5-pound container, plus $4.95 for shipping for a total of $52.94. A 5-lb. container has 81 1/3-cup servings at 25 grams of protein each for a cost of about 65 cents each. If I add Walden Farms chocolate syrup ($3.69 for 12 servings at 2 tablespoons each) that adds an additional 30 cents for a total of 95 cents per serving. If you only want to have 20 grams of protein, which would be more comparable to an IP packet, use a 1/4 cup measure. That would increase the servings to 108, or 49 cents per serving plus the 30 cents for the chocolate syrup for a total of 79 cents. If you want, you can also just buy their whey protein isolate in Dutch chocolate- or vanilla-flavored containers at $49.99 for 5 pounds, for about 62 cents per serving. But I haven't tried them so I couldn't vouch for their taste. You could call Netrition and ask if they have sample packets to check out their taste. Their page with NOW products is http://www6.netrition.com/cgi/prices.cgi?manu_id=153.

BevS - Thanks for the info! I always love your knowledgeable posts! :)

My weight has gone up and down for the past 4 week for obvious reasons. I have discovered sadly that life goes on and am grateful for that at the same time. The one at home with mono is doing much better although he claims his summer is ruined. Other than that, I am coping well. The jerky boss is leaving on the 29th which could not come any faster. Thanks for all of your support. I have been trying to read as many as posts as I could and concentrate on the program. Wish everyone a great week!

TXRealtor - Welcome back! I am very sorry for your loss; it must be difficult to focus on other things at a time like this. Glad to hear that your son is getting better and your horrid boss will soon be gone. Sending warm fuzzies and positive vibes your way!

ARGGG, I have a nerve disorder called RSD in my arm and as a result I have an implanted electronic device. There is a battery that sits in my chest with wires that wrap around my neck directly to my spine. This overrides the pain sensation and allows me to function almost normally (still lots of things I cannot and should not do). I have had this device in for almost 8 years. I have had it totally replaced once in that time frame. I am supposed to have the battery replaced every 3-5 years but a few weeks ago it started shocking me. I did some reprograming of it and got it somewhat under control. Went to the doc and they said they would get back to me. WELL....They want to replace the entire unit and move the battery from the chest to the back of the hip. I am thankfull that I have this unit implanted as I refuse to take pain meds and it allows me to do most of the things I love. I am frustrated because I have so much going on right now and I refuse to be laid out for surgery. Most days I can go about my business and people would never know that there was something wrong with me. I refuse to let it rule my life. I guess I am just whining becuase i really DONT have time for this. BUT... I guess I don't have time not to either.
Not sure what this means for my weight loss at the moment but I am gonna keep on truckin. I am hoping for a speedy recovery since the last time it laid me out for almost 2 weeks. Thanks for listening.

Melissa P - So sorry to hear about your pending surgery. You'll come out of it with flying colours though I'm sure...you're obviously a strong woman!

I've actually lost 1-1/2 inches from my neck!!! And you can kind of see that indentation in the front? Which I haven't had for years!! Calves & knees? Down 1.5-1.75", too (I don't remember exactly which was which). But the ankles? Still the same as when I started - cankles. And I just looked at my signature... and realized I'm down over 90 pounds from my highest!!!!! One hundred pounds lost, HERE I COME!!!

sgorny - WAY TO GO!!! :carrot: So inspiring! Keep it up girl!

I get in my packets at the times I am supposed to but I am having trouble getting my water and vegetables in. I drink/eat my packet and I am so full I do not want to eat any more. Do I have to force this down me? I am sipping on water and forcing myself to eat a pickle here and there. Hmmmm.....Funny everyone is talking about being cold. I thought maybe I was getting sick. I have been wearing socks to bed every night because I am freezing :dizzy: I did not report in yesterday and it was my weigh in. I lost three pounds :D Went from 223.6 to 220.6. I hope to kiss the 220's goodbye this week!! Great job on all the losses! Everyone is doing great :)

SweetSheila - Congrats on the loss! :D I've been known to not eat all 4 cups of veggies from time to time...sometimes it's just not possible and I really don't think we should force ourselves to eat. I'm also cold all the time...personally I think it's because we're so well hydrated from all the water!

I haven't cheated yet and would hate to be kicked out over some carrots... I would have rather had something like chocolate be the culprit! lol

shrinkingsusie - This shouldn't throw you out of ketosis. This has happened to me on several occasions, also with shredded cheese and/or bacon in salads. I've picked the "restricted item" out as best I could but didn't stress out too much over it. :)

Have a great Friday everyone!!

Sure, there's such a thing as too much protein, but I don't think you'll hit that by adding one more packet... doing some research, I've read several places lately that at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (even as much as 1.5 gm./lb., depending on how active you are) is key to maintaining muscle, energy, & good health... for me, that's wwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy over 100 gm.

Carla Help!

Carla,
I have been on the alternative site looking up hair loss. Suddenly in month 5 I am loosing fist-fulls of hair. By my estimate in the last 2 weeks I've lost almost half of my hair! I saw you take a multi for hair, what brand did you go with and at what rate do you take it? This has been a real emotional shocker to me, and your help would be very welcome.
