Good evening everyone!

I am on the mend. My recent test showed the infection is gone. I go tomorrow evening for my weigh in. I think I have done alright even with being sick. I love this site. There is so much helpful information. Hopefully after I know more about the plan, I can offer some advice and information too. Well, I hope everyone had a great day and tomorrow is hump day! ;)
Take care!

Arg...I have continued to be at a standstill and I am craving everything. I've looked back over my food journals and nothing has changed. Also, I used to test moderate for ketosis and now I'm barely trace. WTH? :?: I am getting really frustrated and am having a hard time convincing myself to keep going.

been there a number of times, just try and make it through today, you'll most likey feel better tomorrow or the next day.

ahhhhhhhh...so today was nice, just kind of had a lazy day at the house with the boy, went grocery shopping and picked up some pure protein ready mades in vanilla-4 for $7!! i'm very worried about telling my boss/coach that i think i'll take these last few pounds on my own.

a co-worker of mine who did the diet and lost about 25 lbs told me the other day that my boss looks her up and down all the time to see if she's gaining weight and i'm honestly terrified of that thought. but hey, she's helped me get this far and if i start gaining i'll buy the IP food from her again i guess.

i sure do miss jordanna these days, and CG of course. CG, if you see this, please know that we are all thinking of you:hug:

oh and pita, pookee and deinkatze are my friends on FB now. if you wanna add me(bc i'm awful at trying to find you guys!-believe me, i've tried:lol:) my full name is erin bradshaw and am in leander, tx(redneck country for sure)

hope everyone is having a wonderful night, i am struggling today to eat, had a shake this morning, a shake for lunch and now have to tackle a bunch of chicken a 4 cups of vegetables and THEN ANOTHER shake. *barf*

and speaking of boobies, mine have gone from a very voluptuous 38DD to a 34C, it's depressing and i have also lost my perky round butt that i used to be so proud of. oh well. i have, on a better note, ALSO LOST MY HUGE GUT AND CELLULITE.

here's to hoping for at least a 162.9 on friday!
much love:hug:

Hey there! You can find all the pre-made drinks, bars, puddings...at the DR. B clinics for a fraction of the price. I was really shocked to get my pre-mades for $12 a pack rather than $31 and I am certain you would have a clinic near you.
Good luck
Julie

Hi Julie. I also get the premades at the local Dr. B clinic for $2 each since they are exactly the same as the IP ones, plus they have Mocha flavour. I tried the Caramel Chocolate Dr. B bar and found it higher in fat and carbs than the IP ones...which flavours do you use and are they more comparable? I also bought a box of the Dr. B chocolate pudding mix and having been using it as a shake since it has comparable numbers to the IP premades. Do you have the nutritional info for the hot chocolate and/or hot cocoa and other Dr. B products? Thanks! :)

During this past week my Taylor "body fat" scale said I lost 10 pounds over night. Three days later I gained 18+. Did you hear the scream? What kind of scale do you have? Since my coach is on another island I need to do the weigh-in myself and I'd really like some semblance to reality. Sheeze.

I have a tanita scale. It is an older one as I bought it about 7 years ago now.

http://www.tanita.com/en/um028/ This one is similar to mine.

When I read consumer reports the tanitas were among the most accurate digital scales. I don't like the body fat monitor. It is most accurate in the afternoon and, if I am properly hydrated, comes in consistently about 1-2% higher than when I have had a caliper test or, about 3% higher than a dunk tank analysis.

I don't like that mine, being older, doesn't do really small increments of change. The new ones go in .1/lb or .2/lb degrees of change. The change on mine is .5 pound measurements.

Mine, wherever it is, is like yours, a Tanita... I don't know how old it is, I'm sure I've had it for over 10 years, 'cause the members warehouse where I bought it, well, I haven't been a member for at least 10 years... I agree about the half-pound increments not being good enough... if I ever decide to start weighing myself at home, I'll probably spring for a new better one...

I'm feeling a little self-conscious about my shaker bottle at the office -- I don't want to deal with other people's opinions (the few that would notice and the fewer that would say anything) about what I'm eating I was thinking of making pudding at home then bringing it a container to work.

Maybe a dumb question: How well do packets keep after mixing, (refrigerated or cooled of course)?

Love this: (0)(0).. too funny!!

I feel the same way about my shaker at the office. It's nobody's business, but I just would rather avoid any discussions about it at all. So, I have been bringing my puddings in containers and putting them in the fridge at work, and I make puddings into drinks also and bring them in a thermos.. it's been working pretty well! Haven't had any problems with strange textures yet.

I decided to change my goal weight.. after asking in last week's chat, I think 140 was too low even with a small frame (according to wrist and elbow tests.. and disproportionally small feet compared to my height - size 7 shoes - that make me top heavy and clumsy :o). Does 150 seem more attainable or is BMI 20.9 going to be difficult?

Oh, and I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't do more research before starting IP since Dr. Tran Tien has the diet protocol on his website, and gives a choice of a packet or a measure of protein: http://www.trantiendiet.com/site/spip.php?rubrique36
Would anyone be willing to tell me if there is a benefit to using the IP packets compared to the "measures of protein" so I can make myself feel better about the start-up fees and $4 packets?

Question about hunger

Hi all,

I am wondering how manageable hunger is in Phase I? It seems like especially in the mornings with only liquids the hunger would be horrible.

Ok, so I had my bridal shower this past Sunday and it really sent me on a 3 day hiatus from IP....I didn't go nuts with eating...but did eat all sorts of party items...I feel too bloated to get on the scale so will hold off til are friday weigh in.....

The one thing I did learn from this was that it felt so good to look good in my dress....the cheating just gave me more resolve to get back on the wagon....it was also a nice break from the IP food....6 weeks before the wedding...full steam ahead.

Hope all are on track....keep up the great work.

has anyone felt any random numbness on this IP program? I have experienced random, short term numbness on my pinky toe, tip of my tongue, derriere, fingers. I never had this problem before starting the IP program, so just wondering if anyone else has. I went to the doc to figure out what the problem is and she really did not know. So now i am waiting for some blood test results.

Bloodwork is a very good place to start. Numbness, in general, is not a good thing. From experience, some causes of numbness could be (in no particular order):
- low blood pressure / poor circulation
- poor diet (low in vitamins, as showgirlaz mentioned)
- pinched nerve (chiropractor and massage therapist can help with this)
- numerous "diseases" (this is the category the doctors put me me in 6 years ago... but further testing proved them wrong. I don't trust the medical community anymore)
- stress. I don't know if you're experiencing huge amounts of stress right now, but if you are your body may be letting you know by screaming at you neurologically.

LOL! So funny!! Thanks for the laugh, ladies!

I'm kind of taking a break from the program, but every morning flirt with the idea of starting up again. I have more weight to lose and don't like the little inner tube around my tummy, hip and bum, but am having a hard time dealing with moving stress - by the way, official moving day is in one week!!! Very exciting!!!

OH! And, did I mention that I bought a medium shirt and size 10 pants today!!! Very exciting for me.... (I'm bottom heavy... wishing on a set of those jugs you were all mentioning). So, that's where I am at today.

Glad to see everyone is keeping at it, hitting those scales with fabulous results!!

kplus80--I've been told that the difference between the packets of protein and eating animal protein is that the packet has less calories and the protein is more absorbable. In phase 2 you do replace the packet of protein with animal protein again and the loss slows a bit because of the higher calorie count. Hope that helps.

Don't give up and DON'T give in! If you read the boards, there are many people who report similar things at 4 weeks. It is like there are several natural adjustment periods.

When I have read about ketosis, I have seen information that about week 4 your body has adapted to utilizing ketones as fuel and is more efficient at gluconeogenesis. Gluconeogenesis is what the body uses to naturally regulate blood sugar to prevent ketoacidosis (remember, ketones are toxic). It is part of a system that healthy people have working well which is poorly functioning in diabetics. From what I've read NO carbs are needed in glucneogenesis and it doesn't need sugars to start the reactions but, in the end, it generates a "sugar" and a molecule of energy for our bodies.

Also, somewhere between 3 and 4 months on a carb restricted, low cal diet the body becomes efficient at functioning in this mode. It is not a bad thing but the body is capable of adapting and can be less agressive at ketosis. It can start to reduce our metabolism to adjust for the lower calories and to prevent the wasting away to quickly of its only fuel reserve, our fat. It is an individual process and not everyone notices a drastic change.

I understand where you are at. I assure you this will work if you choose to stay with it. YOU WILL see the loss pick up. Is the coach you are going to using any means of measuring changes in you body fat or lean body mass? It might be good to have this done. You wouldn't want to be eating to little protein for your natural metabolism.

I have been on this much longer than I wanted and, as everyone has been able to see from my posts and lack of this week, I am having a hard time too. (I haven't been helping myself out in someways perhaps.) However, I believe in this program and I know I have gone thru multiple adjustments on the program and have always been losing something. It may not be "typical" but it isn't too strange either.

My guess based on what you are saying is your body is now making its own "glucose". It should do this to some extent, it is healthy. In doing so, it will cause ketones to be reduced. And, MIGHT cause a change is weight lost. (Remember, ketones are not obvious on ketostix that are 2months old or older, ketones exhaled or sweated don't show on strips, and highly hydrated people have diluted ketones.)

How many carbs are you getting per day and per week? Have you tried reducing them yet? Going with the lowest possible carb foods/packets?

If you are doing an alternate protocol you could substitute 3 egg whites for a protein packet in the morning.

If you are doing ideal protein or ideal-to-go, get the egg omelette. It is great! I add extra veggies, warm it in a pan or microwave. I like the bulk and chewing action. It does well for me. I have a low in the afternoon though.

Some people like the wildberry yogurt and that can be a nice thick creamy texture for morning too. I personally only like the yogurt as a yogurt drink.
