The weekend!! After a stressful week at work it'll be nice to do "home" type things for a couple of days. I have cleaning to do and plan to do some shopping and baking too. Let's see how much actually gets finished. DH did something to his back and he's really sore. Please pray for healing for him.
Not much is happening here but I just wanted to log on and let you know that you're in my prayers. Please post. This is too good a forum to let slide.
Hi everyone, I hope this finds you all well. I see it is really slowing down here I hope we can all find a way to keep it going. Thought it was going to pick up with Michele and Zoe coming back, but then they vanished
I am working a little closer to home, coming home every night. I cooked last week end for the first time in ages. With Angie home for the summer from teaching, and me working out of town so much, she just did all the cooking. I made meat loaf and scalloped potatoes on Saturday, getting great reviews from my kids and nephew!! Then on Monday I made a chicken soup that was really good and easy and burritos on Wednesday when Angie was off to BUNKO.
Last night Angie had about 15 ladies over for Happy Hour and a bridal get together for a teacher friend. Stayed in my room!! Hiding!
Thank you all for prayers for my mom. She is doing much better, breathing much better with the oxygen and NO SMOKING!! A little...a lot.. too late though I am afraid, wouldn't we all like to go back and make better choices though?!
Thank you all for your prayers for Reba, we took her to the vet yesterday and she was given the GET OUT OF (crate) JAIL FREE card! She is so happy to be running around without having us chase her to get her back into her crate. It has been 6 weeks since she was able to be out free all day with Rylee.
Ryan is at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes conference at Amanda's old college, he is the leader at the high school he teaches at. Amanda just left with her fiance, heading to test wedding cakes and then go to the Padre game.
I am just hanging out waiting for the USC game to start. Angie is tearing the house apart looking for her Christmas Trans-Siberian Orchestra CD, can't find it anywhere, we only have 3 places where she keeps cd's ~ alphabetical order in the cabinet, in the gym where she does yoga and in her office where she listens when on the computer...no where to be found ~ this after she promised all the folks at bells today that she would burn it for them!! Of course I AM NOT giving her a hard time about mis-placing it since it was a birthday gift from me
AUNT SUE~ WOW! Our neice sure is getting cuter by the minute! Sorry camping is almost over, glad weather is good though. Good luck with the Dr. appointment.
WILMA~ Enjoy your rest. Praying dh's back is feeling better.
SCALEWATCHER~ Welcome
REBA Just watched Roll Tide get upset by Arkansas...good game, if you weren't for 'bama.
Well I am off to warm up my recliner for the USC~ARIZONA game!!
I can't believe how quiet it is around here!! Please, Please post!
I stepped on the scale this a.m. and discovered I had lost 2 lbs. I didn't expect that but I have been really busy lately so not much time to snack. Keeping my hands busy is a plus. Pretty soon it'll be cold enough to start working on my quilt again. I'm actually looking forward to it.
This a.m. I looked outside and there's frost on my van. Not what I wanted to see but typical for this time of year.
Gary: I'm sure you and Angie are glad that you're working closer to home these days. It's so hard to be apart for long. My DH is gone quite a bit too and I find it difficult especially if I need to talk about something or maybe I just like having him around.
I'm glad to hear that Reba is back to her normal self. Now she'll be able to dig in the dirt all she wants!!
Well, gotta get going to work. Please post even if it's just a line to let us know how you're doing.
Wow! sure is quiet around here. Wilma- prayers dh 's back feeling better, and congrats down 2 lbs..
E.Z.- glad to hear reba/mom doing better. I luv transiberian orchestra, they are awesome... Thanks for prayers.

So I was happy... closing camp sat. hope the weather holds. Off to cedarville soon . you guys stay healthy and safe much love sue
Sue, Are you having weight loss surgery? There is a gal on here who has had it and has been in and out of the hospital for months and really bad off. I'll see if I can find the name.
Yes, I am not scheduled yet started this process in July moves at a snails pace, waiting on insurance approval.. That would be good to talk to someone, I have researched the Dr. He is suppose to be one of the best on the east coast... I have read posts from many patients of his on a medical site called know your surgeon... I really am feeling pretty comfortable with this... But am open to listening to anyones experience, so that would be wonderful, I have two friends that had it last year both are doing great, one didn't take her vitamins the way she was suppose to and was working to much overtime and that took a toll, started to loose her hair and looked haggard, but as soon as she started staying on plan she started doing great.. Both have lost over 100 lbs, won't be a year until Oct. for them. I love finding out as much info as possible. So would appreciate it.. There is a weight loss surgery site on this forum as well. gotta run but thanks for the info...take care guys have a good weekend!!! see ya! Sue
Yes ladies, as my wonderful hubby said, I'm home, again, and for now. (fingers crossed). I know he keeps ya'll posted on my condition and I really love him for that. I know he also gets to vent a bit to people that understand what's going on in our life... if not understand then can be compassionate to our situation. I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you that keep praying and sending good thoughts our way. It's been such a long road.... of course I thought it would only be a 2 week recovery, never imagined it would be almost 6 months later and 12 surgeries later and I've only begun to have clear liquids again. I don't know how much weight I've lost as of now... I'm sure it's more than the 86 I've got in my siggy but the don't weigh you like they're supposed to at the hospital. I don't feel like I've lost an ounce. With all the pain I'm in now, I feel like I should've just NOT done the bypass and delt with my existing physical issues/pains that I had before. At least I could SLEEP then, and I could enjoy going to the movies and such... now just sitting in this chair is putting so much strain on my lower abdomen that I'm about to get offline... but not until I'm finished here... 'suck it up and press on' (that's an Air Force saying) So if you ask me now if it was worth it I would tell you no. I would also NEVER try to talk anyone OUT of having the surgery either. I know people that have had so many benefits from having their proceedure. Who have lovely, wonderful and happy lives that they didn't have before surgery. I would just tell my story and they can take it as they wish. When they hand you that list of possible complications.... know that you can have one, or none... OR you can have them ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! You really do have to consider that. As for my surgerons list of possible complications, I have had then all but death, and believe me I've even wished for that one. When you dry heave enough to tear out your second level sitches and have to undergo yet another surgery to FIX that... knowing that you're gonna end up in the ICU and be in all the horrible pain you just got over, even dying seems like an option. I have given up faith that I will ever be 'normal' again. One of my awesome nurses confided in me that my surgeon and she were talking about me and he's admitted to her that I will prolly live with chronic pain for the rest of my life from all of the proceedures. He also suspects 'lots of other complications later on' but he won't warn me of them so I don't LOOK for them. I dunno if I like this or not yet. I guess not knowing and just dealing with the day to day stuff is enough for now. But I'd like to know what MAJOR thing's I could have down the line when I don't live here anymore, and he's not my surgeon (cause I'm military and we move around alot I don't have a 'regular' dr.)
Good things: My incision is healing well and only hurts when I'm having a dry heaving episode. I'm home with my DH and 4 legged babies, and can actually lay in my own bed again. I can sip on some clear liquids, cold ones anyway, even if I heave afterward. Lastly, I'm not going through this alone. I have the support of my family in California, especially my momma, my DH, my awesome nurses who have gone way above and beyond their 'job' and have become some of my friends. And all of you here. I know if I ever need an ear to hear me, you will always be here.
Thought I would check in while Angie is off getting a massage.
We were up late last night and early this morning to help set up the tables, etc, at Viking Festival, we are helping my ex with tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun. My family is going to my sister in law's wedding today, spending the night, then we will come back for second service tomorrow to see my future daughter in law become a new member in our church. After that we go to the Viking Festival to BBQ and work desserts.
My sister is coming in today from Illinois, my neice is getting real close to having her first baby, JET MICHAEL. Cool name...but then her name is Sunshine and her sister's is Summer Dawn.
Angie and I start a training program, Tuesday, for a 5K we are doing on Thanksgiving Day. Angie is already in shape and doesn't really need the program, but it helps to keep ME motivated! otherwise I wait until the day, , NO! The morning of the race to start training!
I will try to check in soon, have to go get ready for the trip to my SIL's.
Hope this finds everyone in good spirits after the week-end. Angie and I had a lot of fun the past two "stress-filled" days. Her sister's wedding went as expected...things forgotten, things not done, etc...but...that is typical...and....we all had a BLAST...and that too is typical!! Angie, Ryan and Nicole, Amanda and Zac, Lara, and Ron danced the night away to a rockabilly band (friends of the groom)...I guarded the beer line and kept the kids up on the USC game that was going on in the bar of the resort the wedding was at ...I was not alone either!!
After the wedding ended at 11pm we all headed back to the hotel but low and behold, their was an OKTOBERFEST going on next to it so the kids headed over there until 2am. They were in "not too good of shape" (my son) to be heading home at 7am to be able to be in church at 10 for Nicole's new member orientation. All went well though...I am soooo excited to have my future daughter in law with me in church, and to be able to have communion today with her, my son, my daughter and her fiance, my wife, my ex-wife, and my nephew is just awesome.
After church we all went to help my ex-wife at the Viking Festival from 1 until 7. What a blast that was, my brother and his wife were already there. I did BBQ and Angie did desserts for several thousand people...tons of fun, but boy are we tired!!
Wow! Have I had a busy week!! We are short staffed at work so we're all just flying around - should be good for some weight loss. One new person begins on Tuesday so things should improve from there. It's pretty stressful to keep everyone's spirits up when they're getting frustrated at how much work there is to do. Please pray that we stay sane!
I've been busy in the evenings getting ready for our upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. My inlaws will be here Friday and will probably stay for a week. It's nice to have them here. I have to do some menu planning and shopping but the big dinner chores will be shared by everyone. I'll be taking a sweet potato dish that sounds absolutely delicious and will make a couple pumpkin pies. My MIL loves to bake and we work well together so we'll get a lot done on Saturday.
Not too much else is happening around here. I look forward to reading everyone's posts and do pray for your concerns.
Okay, I'll admit it, I've been reading posts and trying to keep up with everyone else but seems like my life has been the same ole day to day kinda stuff and didn't feel like it would interest anyone so I haven't posted - GUILTY!
Well, here goes:
Hope you watched ESPN2 last night and caught the UCF game at Marshall (my team!) down to the last 7 second before deciding the game, really good finish at 23-22, unfortunately Marshall was the 22.
Anyway, my point being, Matthew McConaghey (sp?) was there WOW !!!! There has been a new movie made regarding the Marshall plane crash of 1970 - worst sports crash in US history - and the comeback of the team. Suppose to be very authentic and based on a lot of witnesses, surviving family members accounts, etc. (There were no survivors on the plane, killed all 75 aboard, team, coaches, team doctor, supporters, family, etc).
I remember this night and my dad (THE Marshall team #1 fan) sitting glued to the TV and when they first said a plane went down at the airport. Dad knew it was the team plane since it was time for theirs to come in and the airport is very small with not a lot of air traffic, - he just knew. And then afterwards the days and days of funerals and news coverage.
So back to the movie, going to premiere on December 22 in Huntington, WV,(Marshall University's home) with all the stars walking the 'Marshall green' carpet into the refurb'ed 1920's theater. Needless to say the whole town is abuzz when anything is mentioned regarding the movie. My DD would love to go to the premiere but I'm afraid they'll have the tickets sky-high, probably for a charity or something which I totally understand but it makes it impossible for a single mom like me to afford the tickets - maybe we'll just have to stay outside and drool on Matthew as he walks by???
Also keep watching Oprah, apparently she and Matthew have done a special for her show promoting the movie and she's suppose to devote the whole hour to the movie, will probably be close to the release date, don't know for sure.
Otherwise, work is just --- well work. Do have to get ready for a State Audit on Tuesday ---- ugh !!! I handle the Homeland Security grant money that comes into our county and of course they want to see all the records and some of the equipment we have purchased. It's been great to get all this stuff into the county but still not looking forward to Tuesday. . . oh well. . .
EZ - DD has a tennis tournament scheduled this weekend, only her third, - seems all the others have not had enough participants and not sure this one will go off, only 3 girls registered as of now?? Lost her first tournament, - I think I told you, played 1st seed and on the high school 1st place team in the state - go figure. Second tournament she won one of the matches but lost the other two so she at least felt like she was improving but she really does enjoy the matches and would go every weekend if I could find (& afford) them.
FYI - did see a commercial on TSO coming to Charleston (WV) (about an hour from me) in November. Looked them up on the website and tickets are $45, would love to go but don't know if I can swing the $90 for both of us - we'll see. .
Also glad to hear Mom and your 'daughter' Reba are doing so much better, I know it's hard to see our parents age and be ill. My mom has been fighting health issues for several years now and just little things (like a UTI) seem to get her really down physically and dad really worries about her alot so I'm sure it's a lot of stress on him as well.
Wonder where all the MIA's are? Probably just like me and out there reading and not posting!!! Look guys, I did it (windy too aren't I?), (that's rhetorical and you don't really have to answer that!) and so can you!! Like was said earlier, just a line or two and let us know you're still out there!!
Hope everyone is doing well, will keep you all in my prayers - Hugs & prayers - Margie
Angie and I are taking it a little easy today, trying to recuperate from another wedding yesterday. The bride is a teacher friend of Angie's and our neighbor. the wedding was on the beach at sunset, very nice weather. The reception was at the NCO club on Camp Pendelton, which is always nice.
My ex-wife came over today to work with Angie on plans for a bridal shower they are having for our future daughter in law. Amanda is here too so we had "wedding planning" talks for her wedding. Both wedding plans seem to be going fine. My neice is going to have her first baby on or by Thursday, her doctor says ~~ busy around here.
MARGIE AND SUE ~ Angie and I got our tickets for TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA
Margie you better figure another $20...our tickets for $45 had a $10 service charge for each!! Our seats look pretty good though, I got them online just as they went on sale to the general public.
Well my Dodgers let me down in the play-offs. My only hope now is that the Padres don't advance or am I gonna hear it from my buddies!!
WILMA~ I hope it slows down a little for you at work. Is your sweet potatoe dish "easy" to make? Angie and I love, especially her, yams and sweet potatoes...Reba and Rylee have them high on their favorite list too! Enjoy your baking with family.
AUNT SUE~Continued prayers for your "search" for the right thing in improving your health. Is "our" neice getting ready for Trick or Treating yet?
MARGIE B~I did see some of the Marshall game but was watching baseball too. I am familar with the Marshall story and the plane crash, looking forward to the movie. How exciting for you guys to have all that happening with the movie around you. to tell you the truth I AM NOT a fan of Matthew McConaughey Oh, I used to be, loved the Wedding Planner, think he was even cuter than J-Lo ( )....HOW~EVV~VER if you recall texas beat my USC TROJANS last year...ahem...he is a big texas fan....so no longer one of my favs!!
Sometimes the tennis draws make no sense! A lot of times, as you saw, it depends on the turnout. Any practice is good though and you don't know what "good" can happen from a loss. My daughter got hammered really bad in a high school match years ago against another school, the gal that beat her took it "easy" on her but still won 6-0, 6-0 ~~ the gal later went on to win the singles in our county of almost 80 high schools and went on to be All~American 4 years in a row in college....and....become one of my daughter's best friends along with her sister...who by the way "killed" Amanda the next 2 years...then all three girls ended up at the same college playing on the tennis team, going on to win regionals each year and making it to National quarter finals each year.
Well, I hope all the MIA's are doing well. Off to watch some football and baseball.........have a great week everyone.
hello?....no one home? Angie and I are in a training program for the 5K on Thanksgiving and I have done 3 walks of 2-3 miles with the dogs this week! Yipee for me!!
I just got back from Cedarville ohio this afternoon! Went out to see my niece and spent the weekend, saw her colledge which was awesome especially seeing her!! She'll be home in about aweek and a half for fall break for 3 days.. which will be cool
E.Z. - wow! busy busy busy! weddings, training, ect... Jet Michael is different but its a neat name... nice to have family in same church, alot of my are in the same church I attend and it is sweeter to worship with them.
Thanks for your support! Kaylee went on the trip with us, but mom will dress her up for trick or treating to the grandma's anyway, ladybug last year!
luv trans siberian orchestra! enjoy!!
Wilma- ? Sanity what is that!! Ha ha ha! Enjoy visit with inlaws and prayers for work..
Margie-Have to agree Mathew is pretty fine...
Well it is late but wanted to pop in and see what was up.. have a great day!!!
