Hi everyone!

I've been crazy-busy with work over the last couple of weeks. I see you've all been making great progress on your running! YAY you!

I'm still suffering with shin pain and beginning to wonder if there is more going on than just shin splints. So I've just been walking... and walking...

Pachyderm, Wow! You're doing amazing things! I love your stories about the dogs and running in a skirt!

webweevil, so glad to see you're back in the game and well into week two!

softballmom, incredible determination on your part. I'm so impressed...

Shrinking Mama, You go! Thanks for checking in on me re: the treadmill experiment... and sorry to be so bad about posting lately.

Lou, good luck with the weigh-in, and you are doing really well in the running, despite the mix up on the number of runs you were supposed to do!

Idest, maybe you should go to the Doctors. I would have thought that your shin splints would have improved by now, even our hypocondriac cleaner has recovered from hers which happened a couple of weeks after yours. It probably is nothing serious, but it would be good to know for sure. When is your walk? Does it hurt when you walk?

Hi Ladies~ Today was a walk day, I managed 4.2 miles over a hilly trail with my youngest in tow(literally, LOL). I wanted to stop in & see how everyone did yesterday/this morning.

Softballmom- I love to be out in the rain. Can't run on a track though unless it's one of the long ones- I lose count of my laps.

Idest- I hope you're able to resolve the shinsplint problems. Maybe a session with a sports medicine dr or a physical therapist?

Lou1978- Good luck on the weigh in. Don't worry too much about missing one of the repeats, I did the same yesterday.

Shrinkingmama, Pachyderm & Webweevil- Keep up the good work! I'm planning to do intervals tomorrow & will report in afterwards.

Hello Gang,

Pachyderm - Yeah! You signed up for a race. How exciting! Good luck on the 20 minutes!! You can do it!

Softballmom - How did the 2nd 20 minute run go? With your modified 10/8/10 minute runs you're already running 28 minutes. You'll probably breeze through next week because of the extra conditioning. Good for you!

Webweevil - Good luck wrapping up week 3!

Idest - Missed you!! Take care of those shins!

GenreGirl - How did you keep the youngest one entertained for 4.2 miles? It is still to challenging for me to really get a good walk with my crew.

Lou - I hope you're feeling good about your weigh in.

I did w7d1 today and it went well. I went a smidge faster than the other day and felt really great when I was done.

Happy running to all!!

I did it!

I ran for 20 minutes!

My god though, what a struggle. I was having Softballmom's headgames, it really was mind over matter. I don't think it was so much the running, but my lazyness streak kicking in and wanting me to just stop this foolishness! I procrastinated for 45 minutes before I went, until I finally just decided to go. It was so hot, I had gross sweat patches like people in tv shows do

Shrinking Mama, well done on Wk 7, at the moment I can't believe anyone can say running for 25 minutes "went well". You must be some kind of running goddess!

GenreGirl, your walk sounds good

Softballmom, Webweevil, Lou - hope your running is still going ok

Good going Pachy and ShrinkingMama!

ShrinkingMama: Isn't W7D1 like 25 minutes, no walks?? Congrats.

And Pachy: Congrats on the 20 minutes. Sorry my headgames are contagious. It is definitely mind over matter in these longer runs. Doesn't it feel so good when you finish?!

Hope everyone else's plans are going accordingly.

I did my second 20 minute run last night. Different track, outside this time. I had good cloud cover until my stretches at the end, so it could have been worse. But, I actually found it harder last night. I seemed to struggle more instead of relaxing into - I was looking at my watch more. I'm going to go back and check my diet and water intake last week vs Tuesday/Yesterday, see if I notice anything. It could have just been warmer and less adrenalin than the first run. I also forgot to do some stretches after my warm up walk, and that might have been the reason. I remembered about 3 minutes into my run that I had forgot to do them (my body started moaning too early).
Live and learn, or Run? and learn...

Softballmom, congrats on the second run. The difference could have been the weather, stretching, what you ate and drank before exercising, or just being more tired after your longer runs this week. Sometimes it just doesn't click. When I did my 10 minute run last week I was really into it, but this last week I have felt really lethargic and running has not been as much of a pleasure or as easy as I was expecting (i.e. all running up to 10 minutes in length!). I hope this has changed before I move onto Week 6.

Stephie, are you still out there? I hope your running is continuing to improve.

Good morning! I just spent the last fifteen minutes re-reading all the posts on this thread. What everyone has accomplished in what is really just a few weeks is amazing. You guys are great!

I finished week 3 day 3 this morning. It was okay but this week did not get any easier along the way. Like a few of you have mentioned along the way, I was constantly looking at the time. Is it over yet? Is it over yet? But I did it and it is supposed to be challenging right? I haven't decided if I want to do another few days of week three until it gets easier or if I will go on to week four. Perhaps I should try week four and if I cannot finish it, add a day or two more of week 3.

Ok cannot catch up on all these posts so I will just try the most recent. Hope you all are doing well though.

Going back to week 6 was exactly what I needed. I am absolutely sure that I moved ahead before I was ready. Slow and steady wins the race I need to get where I can do the 20 minute run EVERYTIME not just when I feel like running. Have been putting a mile or so in here and there on non training run days. With my gym membership on hold it is one of my only cardio options. Going for a run tonight so will check in with you ladies later!

webweevil - I would say do week 3 until it no longer kills you. I would just suffer through the weeks and then when I got to the final week I just couldnt pull it out. You should be able to do week 3 not easily but EVERYTIME!

pachy - I am still out there...I think I am out of my funk, thank goodness too it lasted so darn long! Your doing sooooo good, congrats on your 20! First time I did mine I thought I had popped some blood vessels in my face I was so red.

softballmom - You know it is strange as soon as the program stops interjecting walking breaks into it, that is when I found myself having trouble. Running for a set amount of time then getting a break seems to just be easier than running for set amount of time then being done. Anyway congrats on getting it in Sounds like you are sticking it to this plan of ours!

shrinkingmama - Great job on getting faster, I am a snail compared to you I am sure hehe.

Default Week 4 Day 1

Where is everyone? I hope everyone is okay.

Thanks for the advice Stephie. I have completed week three everytime, although I am constantly looking at the clock. I decided to go a head and give week four a try. Week four consists of a 3 minute run, a 5 minute run, another 3 minute run, and a final 5 minute run. I ran the 3, 5, 3 just fine but had a twinge in my right knee just as I started the last 5 minute run, so instead I walked those 5 minutes at the same pace I was supposed to be running. Although I didn't finish it completely, I am happy with what I accomplished. So, week 4 day 1 down.

Pachy - Congrats on the 20 minutes!!!

Softballmom - Sorry to hear that your second 20 minutes were harder. After the training you did last week with the extended intervals, I'm sure it will all come together soon. Good luck! You can do it!!

Webweevil - Good job on w4d1!! How is the knee feeling now?

Stephie - Glad it is working out for you! Any tips for outside running? I still haven't dared. I keep watching the weather but we're in the middle of a heat wave.

Lou - I'm glad you two are doing well with the program! Good luck with week 4! Spinning sounds like a lot of fun!

Edit: I forgot to add my run info. Today I ran 2.32 miles in 27 minutes. Week 7, day 2

Enjoy the weekend! Stay cool!
