Wow, Misti. I didn't know that we had gone so far. I hope you all took time to stop and see The Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. I actually now remember that in my first marriage my hubby was a truck driver and we took I-90 out to Washington and took a little mini vacation with our 2 kids. Unfortunately, our youngest was only a few months old and can't remember all that much about it. So I was doing some research about Mitchell and some of the upcoming towns that we are going to go through. Here's the link you can all check them out.
Just make sure we stop at Wall Drug to enjoy a little sight seeing. It's a great little place to visit. Also, don't forget about Mount Rushmore. It's amazing to see.
LOL Annie... I have been to Wall Drug. Quite a place. I saw the Corn Palace but only from the outside.
I didn't realize we had gone so far either. I have NO idea what happened to Chris... maybe we need to send out a cyberposse after her. I will try to keep up with the scores a bit better until we find her!!! I hope she is okay!!!
I didn't get to see the inside of the Corn Palace either. They were closed when we went there. I find it ironic that when I was little my parents went to South Dakota with my brother and I was left behind because I was too little and then I went there with my children and my youngest was too little to remember. I think I am going to have a plan a family vacation for the future to SD so we can visit some of the attractions. I am kinda interested in seeing the Flintstone village.
Did you know that we are going to be close to Sturgis? Wow. I would love to see that place with all the motorcycles. What a comotion that would be. Could stop and get a tattoo along the way.
Well I hate to admit it but I didn't WANT to see the Corn Palace... my brother and his family were not very happy with me because I stayed in the van while they went inside. I am just not into country LOL... grew up out in the sticks and saw all the corn I cared to unless it is on my dinner plate. They thought it was wonderful though.
Ummmmm I have NO idea what the special thing about Sturgis is... but sounds like a place we could have us some fun? Motorcycles = men... (I can say that; I'm single!!!)
I was born and raised in Iowa so I can relate to see corn alot. I guess I just wanted to be able to say yes I saw it.
Sturgis, SD is where they have the annual motorcycle rally. It's huge. I have never been there, but I am sure it's a blast. Here's a link I found that has more info about the rally.
Hello all you walkers! Had a good day yesterday and hope for an even better one today! It's my day off and I'm going shopping, which always means LOTS of steps. But first, I'm going to do my workout (after I drop off the kids). I'm going for something longer today, since I have the time and NO interruptions! Haven't decided which one yet: I have several different 3 mile workouts, plus a 4 mile and the 5 mile. Just don't know what I'm in the mood for yet.
Hey I just read an article in a magazine yesterday that said that women who wear pedometers tend to walk a lot farther than those who don't as they become motivated and like to keep track of how far they have gone. Certainly works for me!!!
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 5/4
Miles for that time: 3.49 miles
Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 77.39 miles
Soooooo tired. My boyfriend's flying in at around 7pm tonight, so I have a busy day ahead of me getting everything ready. I did lots of walking yesterday, as you can see, as well as 50 minutes of "regular" exercising... I'm pooped! I did tons of lunges and now my buns hurt so bad hahaha. Ah well, c'est la vie!
To me, the real attraction in Mitchell was a wonderful doll museum across the street from the Corn Palace. If you're a doll collector or interested in antique dolls, it's not to be missed.
Okay guys...South Dakota is where I live now and let me tell you there are very many interesting places here! I really didn't realize Mount Rushmore was here until we moved here. Lame I know... You have mentioned most of them.. but you didn't miss anything inside the corn palace the cool part is outside. The doll museum is awesome. Chamberlain is really beautiful and the Missouri river runs right under the interstate. Very beautiful and very full right now. Another place to see in Murdo SD is the car museum...hubby's fave. Then of course Wall drug who wouldn't want to stop there! They have alot of stuff even a robotic Dinosaur! They advertise with billboards all over the united states...even as far away as NY and maybe even out of the country. Miles and Miles and Miles of nothing.. Then we will come up on the badlands...beautiful. Then the Black hills really really spectacular especially Spearfish Canyon.. beautiful. The 4 heads of course and Crazy Horse's new carved mountain (not finished yet but stunning so far)...but then...Sturgis Bike rally, well that speaks for itself.....just some useless information I thought that I would share....Blyn
