Hi to all...

30 minutes Tae Bo
4 mile bike ride
20 minutes weights (upper arms)
1 hour hike around a local conservation area...lots of hills and climbing.

The sun is shining and there is still ground to be see (in other words, no snow yet!!) so I am just enjoying it! I pumped up the exercise today because I missed a few days due to working (ugh - gotta hate those 12 hr. shifts!! They just don't leave any time for exercise).

It really has been fun to have a workout buddy for a couple of days. We only have one decent bike so we took turns.
It is very very very very very, did I say VERY difficult to train with your kids... I just came back from the gym with DS, I tried to show him a squat and he wouldn't friggen listen , I laugh now, but dang I was pissed just a few minutes ago...

45 minutes on the elliptical
30 minute walk with the pooch

I am still struggling with the plantars fascitis but it seems to be coming along. I used a Nu-step which is a sit-down elliptical type machine in order to take the pressure off of my foot. It seemed to help. However, my walk this evening and my hike and tae bo yesterday have me icing again. Gosh...I can hardly wait to get over this. I do hope, in saying that, that there truly is an end to this problem. Perseverance, perseverance! Must be must lesson for the year...

Jenaya -- Have you seen a podiatrist of a chiropodist about your PF? They really helped my GF with her PF by adding orthotics in her shoes and ultras sound therapy...

Wednesday's exercise -- run, abs, swim

Heather, good for you for 63 minutes. Just do it, keep going now. You are back on track.

Rabbit - thanks for your good wishes.

Ilene - yes, I have seen a chiropractor, podiatrist, massage therapist and darn near anyone else who would like to look at my foot. I have a new $230 dollar pair of shoes (ouch - and they are ugly to boot, oh well, they comfort my foot) and I think they are helping. I also live in my mephistos and never go barefoot. I pretty much healed my left foot but because I overcompensated with the right foot, it is now having difficulty. I don't know what else to do but one thing for sure is that I WILL NOT let it get in the way of what I need to do for my heart and health. So, I work through it and use an awful lot of ice (sad face here). I think the trick is doing the non-weight bearing activity (biking, swimming, nu stepper) when I can and alternating with some weight bearing as I can tolerate it. I just forget and try to go full throttle and it gets me into trouble. I am not good at setting limits. If the spirit moves me, I want to go. It is getting better though - slow but sure. Thanks for the suggestions though, I really appreciate it. I just have to keep stretching my calve muscles because I do think that is the source of my trouble - that and I am on a medication which interferes with calcium absorbtion and I wonder if this is part of the problem.

Today - 45 minutes bike

Have a great day everyone and keep on moving.

Hi excercisers,

I mowed the grass yesterday and today I biked to and from work, 80 minutes in toatal.

Ilene - what are charlie horses ?? I have never heard the expression. You'll probabely be back into swimming form in no time if you keep up the laps !

\Edited to say: heather, good for you about the excercise!. now stay off that couch !

have a great day,

rabbit -- A charlie horse is when you get a knot in a muscle that really, REALLY hurts!! You can actually feel the knot through the skin. Stretching helps aleviate the knot but you have to get up from where you are to do that. When I was pregnant I used to get them in the middle of the night. I've heard that magnesium in a banana is good, but I do take a sup for magnesium every night. I think I will be more cautious to stretch it from now on...

Thursday's workout: back and biceps, run with running group, I think 5k... I called the girl this morning because one of the girl's in my class last night runs in that group also, and they meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:15, I find that a little late but I'll live ...

Off to the gym TTFN

Ilene,

I used to have those charlie horses while pregnant too. My doctor however pointed out that magnesium supplement does not absorb without one other nutrient (and now I forgot which one it was - calcium or potassium??) - anyways, bananas should be eaten with oranges for absorbtion of magnesium. And you know what, it worked not only for me but for my dad - he used to have charlie horses in the middle of the night and could not sleep at all. After adding half orange/hapf banana for breakfast they were gone ... in three days! I noticed that charlie horses are back for me when oranges are not in season (i.e. early summer when all they sell in supermarkets is squishy yakee ones). This week finally I found a nice one and my charlie horses ran away

Sandy.
