Ilene, I did a lot of swimming in college, and this was the hardest part for me too! But you can go faster if you learn to do it - think of the line you make in the water with your head in line with your body as opposed to lifted up. Do you wear goggles? I found that helped a lot.

Pat -- I MUST wear goggles, because I wear contacts and my eyes are EXTREMELY sensitive to chlorine... I got myself a nice pair and I really liked them once I got them adjusted properly and no water was coming in , took me half an hour to get it right though ... They also didn't fog up at all, I was very happy ....

HI,

Ilene- WTG on the swimmin. I used to do a LOT of swimming when I was 30 years younger, and I thaught my daugther to swim. I go with pat ... You go much faster once you keep your body horizontal, and your head in line with your body . This makes your face go into the water, and you have to come up for air every once in a while, but this actually made it easier for me at that time to keep my breath !

No excercise yesterday. Today I ran outside for 1 hour.

I biked 5 miles in the drizzle. It's taken me darned near two and a half years to realise I won't melt if I exercise in the rain.

I'll do upper body a little later.

Hi excercisers,

Today I ran 1 hour outside. Sun was shining, and my 11 year old daughter went with me on her bike.
We had a good time.

Default Weekend Opportunities

Hi Everyone, Happy Weekend!

I took a day from a "formal" workout and starting to feel a bit anxious. I'm assuming this is fear of falling into a backward spiral of abandoning my new routine of (at least) walking every day.

Like eating, I finally got a clue to vary my activities to ensure that exercise gets done. Tracy (TMunday) had provided a link to Leslie Sansone on the "Sept Walkers" threads (thanks again, Tracy!) and it HIT me suddenly - No More Excuses. You see, I had ALREADY started to dread winter/intense heat & humidity/inclement weather as an obstacle to working out. Did I even entertain the idea of using a DVD inside? Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

These boards are truly helping me stay accountable and informed.

Thanks for being here. Healthy and enjoyable weekend workouts to us all!

Hi excercisers,

Today I ran outside for 40 minutes. It was sunny and a bit cold, but I put on long training pants and just went and did it. Afterwards streched for 10 minutes with my daughter.

And with this I have reached my target of 7 hours excercise for this week. I hope the scales move next week as well.

Jean - Look at some posts before where SusanB figures out that you CAN go and bike in a drizzle. Likewise, if it is bad weather YOU CAN also work out inside!

Have a great weekend all!

Hey Gang!! Nice to see that everyone exercised this weekend... I did only on Saturday morning at the hotel gym I was staying at, but I did nothing Friday and Sunday so today I'm ready to roll...Legs and some cardio today because I feel that I need to burn some calories of the off plan eating I did this weekend, I did OK though considering I could've done much worse!

TTFN...

My daughter and I hiked through our local Conservation area yesterday. Semi rough trails for over 1 1/2 hours. Between having someone to talk to and some wonderful scenery, it sure didn't seem that long. It was lovely!

And because I promised some folks in another thread that I would ... I biked too. Five miles. I slept very well last night!

I don't post very often, but I do come here and read, after my mom nags me to (SusanB) I find this site to be very inspirational, a great motivation to get off my ample but shapely derierre.

I got a gym membership about 4 months ago and have only started going regularly in the last two weeks. I try to go three times a week. I am a big fan of the bike and the treadmill. I usually do 25 minutes on the bike and 33 on the treadmill. I came home to visit with the family this weekend to relax and such, but I ended up going on a lovely walk with my mom about an hour and a half through a conservation area. I biked 5 miles this morning, I was only going to do 2, but I had just gone down this big hill and didn't want to have to turn around and go back up it. My mom has been giving me tips on leg exercises so we did those this morning too....so much for relaxing....lol But it has been a good time.
I am going to try to come back here regularly to post my exercise.

Oh, she has a B too but she's working on trading it in on another K in May

I'd also like to state, that I do not nag. The inability to differentiate nagging from pleasant, goodnatured encouragement must be a genetic flaw from her father's side of the family

It really has been fun to have a workout buddy for a couple of days. We only have one decent bike so we took turns.
