Free well done on week 8!! I read your blog too, great reading, you are a true inspiration!
Driven, week 5, 20 minutes straight run - you must be SO proud of yourself!
I meant to ask all of you, where do you plan to go when you finish the program? Are you going to continue running 30 minutes three times a week, or increase the distance, or increase the speed perhaps? Is there any "follow up" program?
I know this is going to make me sound like a bit of a quitter, but... it's the internet so I won't feel as embarrassed.
I was going to start the couch to 5k programme today, but my gym mysteriously closed at 5 today because it's a holiday weekend in Canada. I was strength training with my trainer from 4-5 and planned to do day one of the programme on the treadmill and had that dream shattered when I got there.
I will start... TOMORROW. Procrastinators unite! (just kidding)
But seriously, I don't know how all of you ladies do it. At the moment I can barely do intervals on the treadmill for more than 15 minutes before I get terrible side stitches and have to stop. You gals are amazing.
Just finished Week 4 today and it was my first run outdoors!!! I ran at 6am because I feel pretty self-conscious and there were only a couple other people out that early. I LOVED it! So glad I worked up the courage to leave the treadmill! The fresh air and the cool morning were great!
And I ran at the high school track so I was still able to have some idea of the distance I ran and my average pace... Will try to take the next couple days off, though. I'm having trouble with my right hip and my left shin. ... Have probably been doing too much cardio in addition to C25K.
Thanks to everyone for posting their successes! You all inspire me so much!! I am actually looking forward to longer runs next week! Can't believe it
As for the future, Ronja, after this program I want to keep going and improve my 5k time. I have a goal to someday run a 5k under 30 minutes, (29:59:59 that will be totally okay by me, though!) and I also want to train to run 10k, so maybe next summer I can run the local 10k charity race!! What are your goals/plans?
Chocoholic, did you manage to start the program yet? I think you are great for exercising already, for me this program is the only "official" physical activity. Granted running around 11 months old twins is some activity too
Avalon are you repeating the program then? How did D1W1 go?
I did D3W1 today, not a good run. Very hot day and heavy rain about to come, so breathing was not good, plus I spent two hours at dentist today and my tooth and gums are sore. I finished it though so roll on week 2
Mamie sounds like a great plan! And I am sure you can do it too! It's really inspiring to hear about your goals. I don't have any particular goals myself yet...it still doesn't feel real I'll ever be able to run more than 2 minutes straight...I will believe it when I see it )) Plus making a long term plan isn't easy, as we're looking into expanding our family...we'll start trying again this summer or fall so I want to get fit, and I want to stay fit through out the pregnancy, I mean IF we're lucky and actually conceive...
HI EVERYONE....I've been traveling but I'm pleased to report that I finished W8D2 and W8D3 over the last few days. I am in a hotel so I had to do them on the treadmill. Went to the C25K website and looked at the treadmill version. I felt pretty good while running so I kept going until I made sure that I did 3.1 miles. My 5K is on June 2nd and I want to be ready. I felt the treadmill was definitely easier to me than running outside or on a track. I loved the idea of tracking my pace, however, which you really can't consistently do outside.
Traveling to another city on Wednesday and I'll be able to resume my outside running then. I can't believe I'm starting W9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Completed W3D1 and W3D2 today. I had some time to kill at the gym prior to taking a fitness class so I decided to do two days. I believe the last time I did the program was last week and needed to catch up anyway.
Even if I'm no longer following the C25K program, I'm still training for my 5k.... Just to inform you all that I was able to jog for 10min non-stop!!! And let me add that I was somehow comfortable, it was challenging that's for sure...but my breathing and body were good!!! I was doing 8min just two days ago!!! And no shins pain, I LOVE my shoes!!!
Maybe I'll be able to get back on the program, maybe not...we'll see. Have to say, all of you that keep at it; you girls are really STRONG!!!! You all ROCK!!!! Keep it up!!! (exercise not the weight )
Hi everyone! Can I join your running crew? I'm a bit late jumping into this thread, as I've just done the third run of level one. It gets easier every time, doesn't it! When the podcast (I use Robert Ullrey's) told me it was the last 20 seconds to run, I picked up speed to a sprint just to really smash it. Feels great!
I guess I finished W5D3 since I just jogged for 25minutes non stop!!!! Man I'm so HAPPY . Was only going for 17 min (like yesterday) but I could go on so I did and 25 it is!!!
Off tomorrow! Well deserve break!
P.S. I'm not following the program but still working myself from couch to 5k...
