  • Completed W3D3 and W4D1 today. Yay!!! I'll try to fit in another day this week but will definitely have week 4 completed by next week.
    Keep on going everyone!!
  • So glad to hear everyone is making such great progress! I only ran one day last week because I was traveling and my schedule got all messed up

So I will finish Week 4 this week, and hopefully move on to Week 5! I was having some pain in my left shin, so I am hoping that this break allowed that to fully heal.

This weekend I went to Boulder, Colorado for Memorial Day and there was a 10k race called the Bolder Boulder that 51,000 people ran! It looks like such a fun race, maybe next year I will be running instead of spectating... I hope so!

I know what you mean about not being able to believe you can run more than 2 min straight, Ronja! Every week I am so intimidated by the longer running times, but I keep being amazed at my ability to meet them! That is so exciting that you are planning to expand your family, I hope you will have a happy, healthy and fit pregnancy
  • Thank you Mamie! And fingers crossed for your week 5
I had to take a week break from running, life got insanely busy and we were traveling. So I was not sure weather I should do week 1 all over, or do one extra day of week 1 - eventually I just moved straight to week 2. Just finished d1w2 and it was not easy to be honest...but I did it! I run uphill for a good part and I can feel my hips and butt but hey ho! I am so glad I did not give up and finished every last second of it
  • HI EVERYONE...I didn't disappear. I've been traveling and made it back home a day or so ago. I am still on track W9D2 completed this morning. I tried it yesterday and for some reason, I just tanked. I ran while I was traveling but my lungs felt the worst EVER yesterday. I didn't drink much water or eat too great the day before so I don't know if that had an immediate impact. I think my iron levels were also low (I'm anemic) and my energy was just non-existent.

Anyhoo, went back out today and it went fine. The last 10 minutes were tough. I kept repeating "this is mind over matter". I also prayed ALOT. I kept saying that I had 6 more minutes, then 5 more minutes, etc. Just when I was ready to throw in the towel, I looked at the time and I had 6 seconds left. So, I pushed on and finished!!!!!

I can't say I finished very fast but I did finish. My concern is that my 5K is scheduled for Saturday morning (yes, in 3 days). I don't feel ready...although D2 has traditionally been my toughest day for all of the non-interval weeks. I am thinking of going out again tomorrow to see how I feel and then resting until Saturday. However, my husband's grandmother also passed and we may be headed to the services on the same day as my 5K. I hate to make this day about me (my first 5K). I may just eat the registration cost and run the 5K scheduled in my town on June 16th. Thoughts/Opinions anyone?
  • Hi all, I'm new here and I am currently on Week 2 of the c25k plan. So far, I love it and I am enjoying running(for 1.5 mins lol). I'm curious about weight loss in terms of using this program. I have seen how the program has helped others become more fit and toned and it is an overall fat burner, but I also see that many people don't lose weight or get any smaller even though they run everyday. Do you think this is just a body type discrepancy? or is it a result of a mismatch in diet and exercise?

I would love to be more fit and toned, but I would also like to lose more weight and I'm hoping this program will get me to that place where I can lose that last 14 pounds.
  • Free, considering the circumstances I think I would wait for June 16, but it is a very personal decision. Just do what you feel is right and if you want to do the race, go for it. I'm sure you will do great

Quiet, welcome! I'm on W2 too. As for the weight loss, I've (slowly) been losing but I think it's more due to my diet than such little running...however, if we stick to the program, I'm sure 30 minutes of jogging WILL make a difference weight wise (as long as we're responsible with our eating too!)

As for me, I did W2D2 today. Please feel free to laugh at my expense: I decided to jog UPHILL for the first running interval, and I mean a STEEP slope. (I was bored by my regular ten-times-around-the-pond route and wanted to change the environment, unfortunately the place I was headed to is about a mile uphill from my place]. I ended up feeling like I could swallow my lungs. So, I turned the podcast off, WALKED uphill and started running again from there. Here I am, I survived!
  • Ronja, yes I really need to alter my diet. I think that's where I am slowing the weight loss down. Congrats on making it uphill. I run on a treadmill and in the first week I had it on an incline. I had to change that because week 2 and those 90 seconds runs were killing me. I'm both nervous and excited for Week 3
  • DRUM ROLL PLEASE.............................

    I GRADUATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, today was W9D3 and I did it. I forgot about the time and instead focused on completing a full 5K. I measured the course with my car and with my Endomondo run tracking app and it was about 3.20 miles. I ran 3.17 miles which means I did a 5K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the beginning, my breathing was rough. I realized for the first time that the first part of the course has an incline (stupid me). Other than that, I was fine. My legs started to feel sluggish in the last 3/4 mile but I pushed through.

All together, it took me 36:37 seconds to finish. Not the fastest but I did it and I GRADUATED I really can't believe that I could barely run the 90 seconds during W2 and today I actually did a 5K. I started on April 1st and finished today, almost exactly 9 weeks.

Does the program work, YES. However, I need to work on getting the 5K done in under 30 minutes. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!
  • Free congrats! I graduated too...in a way. Just jogged my first 5k - non stop!!!! My complete workout was 3.89miles in 1h02!!! Took me about 52min to jog the 3.1miles!!!
  • Oh girls you are amazing and SUCH an inspiration! One day I want to be where you are now - I find it so motivating to hear about your success. Thank you so much for sharing and keep running!
  • HAPPYRUNNER......YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You made it through a 5K much faster than I did. SO EXCITED FOR US!!!!
  • Finished Week 7, Week 8 starts on Monday.
  • Today's workout was awesome. I'm at the end of week 2 and I ran 5 minutes straight. The run was supposed to be 1.5 min but I just had this burst of adrenaline and I wanted to go more. I felt so great and on top of the world.

To make it even better, I did my Week 3 Day 1 run after so, I got a great hour in of c25k. I ran 20 mins total in all(so happy about that). I think I'm going to try and combine two of the c25k workouts. It seems I'm up for the challenge and I want to increase the intensity of my workouts.
  • Driven congratulations! How did week 7 feel?

Thequietvoice how amazing! You must be in a good shape. It seems you don't really need c25k at all I finished week 2 today as well and I just made the last 90 seconds when I felt I couldn't do anything more. Wonder what week 3 is gonna be like for me...
  • Ronja....For some reason, W3 felt easier to me than W2. W7 was also harder than W8....go figure....
