  • HAPPYRUNNER....WOW!!!! I know you're off program but make it work for you. That is amazing progress!!! If you feel good, GO FOR IT!!!!

PURPLEFIREFLY....Welcome. Thinking of you running with your daughter almost brought me to tears. I can't imagine how AMAZING that was and how PROUD both of you must be. Hats off too you. I really am almost in tears because this is what I want to show my daughters. I want them to see me do it and push and actually make it!!!!

DRIVENBYAMBITION.....Congrats on W4!!!!! For some reason, I thought W3 was harder than W4. Go figure,

ELIZA31....Congrats on W1. Please let us know how W2 goes.

WELL....I completed W6D2 today. Instead of doing intervals, I did the same as D1 and just kept going. I RAN 22 MINUTES....Straight. I felt good and decided to keep walking through the walk break. It felt good....I realized that I enjoyed running while the sun was rising (and before the heat). Breathing was better although the first few minutes were the roughest. After that, I tried to count the steps between breaths (notice I said "tried"). A few times, I took a few deep breaths and everything seemed to be fine.

An interesting note....It seems like my runs are better and I have more energy when I eat a banana before I go out. Not immediately before but at least 15-20 minutes before. My legs feel great, I have more energy. It never fails....no banana, tiring run/jog. Maybe it's psychological.

    Happy C25K everybody.....I'm almost on W7...
  • I'm so glad I found this thread!!!
I'm only on week 2 of the C25K, but recently I've been getting these CRAZY pains in my shins. I think they might be shin splints!!
For week 1 of the C25K I didn't rest on any days except one, so i ran for 6/7 days when it suggest to only run 3/7 days. Could that be the reason??

Btw, I've always enjoyed running, but the C25K is actually making me love running! That's mainly why i didn't have so many rest days.

    Any suggestions????
  • W6D3 done...on to W7. My Ipod broke this morning so I had to time the run on my Nano. I didn't have my app promopting me and actually ran slightly more than the 22 minutes. I actually missed the voice telling me that I was done The good news is that this would have been devastating on the intervals. So glad I finished all the interval runs BEFORE it broke.

REALLYSTRUGGLING....WELCOME....It could be shin splints or your running shoes. However, I also did a few of the runs back on back and my body felt it. See how you feel after your next rest period. Cheering you on
  • Hey Everyone! I am pretty new to 3FC and I just found this thread. I have been doing C25k for a few weeks. Just finished W3D1 on Sunday and will do W3D2 tonight or tomorrow morning! I was so intimidated by Week 3 but so far I can do it

I am so inspired by all the success I have read about on this thread so far. It's good to know that people are getting through that 20 minute run that is looming a couple weeks ahead. I am so intimidated by it!

I run on a treadmill right now, and I try to run at 5.5+ mph and walk at 3.8 mph. So far I've been able to keep up that goal pace indoors. But I registered for my first 5k race at the end of June (so nervous!) It is going to be in a park near my house, and I'd like to start training there to get used to running outdoors and running that route... but I am SO uncomfortable running in public. With all those thin, fit runners. Anyone have tips for overcoming this fear / insecurity? AHHG!
  • MamieGrace....I had the same fear and would only run in the early morning when I knew no one would be around. I had to run indoors and noticed that when I saw the "skinny people" they actually gave me an encouragng smile. Since then, I've been outside running for some time and have been met with really warm smiles and hellos from everyone (and I'm heavier than you). Go for it, you'll be glad you did
  • Week 4 has been challenging. Getting worried for Week 5.
  • free1, i agree! i was super intimidated about running outside. I would always wait for the skinny/fast runners to go ahead of me and then run.. (so they wouldn't see my thighs jiggle!!) but lately, i've also started running outdoors, and I have to say: people are a lot more worried about their own runs than about looking at others. plus, the fresh air is just much better!!
  • Thank you so much for the support, free1 and reallystruggling! I think I will follow your lead and break myself in by running in the early morning when there won't be as many people around. I have a feeling once I get past those first few days I will enjoy running outdoors!

And thanks to all the inspiration from everyone on this thread, I just finished W3D2!! And I really pushed myself to run as hard as I could and I definitely exceeded my expectations for myself
  • Wow so much progress on here! Great job you guys! W8D1 complete I'm getting sick and coughing while running isn't incredibly pleasant :/ I think I might wait till Friday to do W8D2.
  • I finished W5D3 yesterday. I've not been really true to the C25K schedule the last couple of months because I was prepping for a mud run. I've completed it now (and it was nothing like a 5k run), and I have my first road race in two weeks. I'm hoping to be able to run the whole thing.
  • I just started c25k this morning at 2 am ,crazy , anyway it felt pretty easy even though I'm pounding 296ish pounds, I don't even feel like I worked out today but am waiting for that dreaded, unsuspected soreness tonight . The only part that made me want to quit was having to jog up a hill (it probably looked like I was slow motion walking it lol) but I did it. I must say I love the Chubby Jones c25k podcast, she didn't say when it was the last run until after it was over lol which was good for me. Hope everyone + me can keep this up!
  • Congrats on starting C25K, BigBird! So glad your first day went well!
  • Finished Week 4 today. Starting Week 5 on Monday. Almost halfway
  • Completed W2D2. I will probably not finish W2 until next week. I've been taking fitness classes at the gym and would squeeze the C25K prior to starting a fitness class. This entire week I was running late to class and was unable to do the program and felt too exhausted after the classes to do it.
Looks like everyone is doing good. I was wondering if any of you repeat the day until you felt comfortable to move on? I'm thinking that if I feel like it is getting too hard that I might do that.
  • HELLO EVERYONE.....W7D1 completed. I tried yesterday but I had a bad cold and then half way through the run I had an allergic reaction to something and started getting hives/whelps all over my arms. My arms/hands also started swelling so I thought I'd call it since I was fighting off a coughing spasm. I wasn't tired but thought with the coughing issues and the swelling it was best to pack it in. I felt like such a quitter though

Tried again this morning and I made it. Still don't feel great physically but the run was excellent. Just as I was getting ready to check the clock my app signaled that I was ready to walk!!!! Hope everyone else is doing well
