Newbie to this running thing. I signed up for the 3FC 5K and on that thread heard about the C25K program. I downloaded the podcasts last night. I am off to the gym for W1D1, once I finish the podcast I will walk until I hit the
5K mark. I have been walking and or ellipticalling (is that a word??) for 30 to 60 minutes a day for over 2 months now. I think the first couple weeks will be ok...I am a bit nervous about the week 3 and beyond. BUT I WILL SUCCEED!!!

Smile Can I jump in.

Hi all, I'm Dee. Hope you don't mind if I jump in here. I was working on running last year, and had a depression/stress induced slide. Now I'm having to start over from scratch, and back at my top weight, so I thought I'd try C25k. I did W1D1 last night, and I hope I'm able to stick with it. I would love to get back to running 5k's and eventually work up to a half marathon and marathon. Great job on all you have been getting done, and thanks for giving me some motivation to keep going and get back to running!

Hey fellow C25k enthusiasts

Last week was crazy hectic, so I didn't have much free online time to report on my progess. I did, however, manage to fit in two runs! Tuesday I did a proper W5D2 - and I second Berner here, it's such a great feeling for me to be able to run 8 min. straight. Thursday was a bit of a letdown - I was in a rush, dressed way too warmly for the newly springlike weather, and probably overdoing it on the track. Bottom line is that I hit the wall 3 min. into my second run. I walked for five minutes and used the 5 min. cool-down to round out the overall running time, *then* did a short cool-down period additionally. So it was OK in the end, I guess, but it did discourage me a bit from attempting the 20 min. run any time soon. Today I'll try the 2x8 min. again and see how it goes. Wish me luck, OK?

Hey Mayness, thanks for pointing me over here.

I just started, literally yesterday! You girls are inspiring because quite frankly that workout kicked my a** and I hurt today! I can't imagine at this point doing any more then I did but we'll see!
I found one podcast on ullrey's and it was nice not having to keep track of the time. Do you guys have any other recommendations for the podcast to go along with the program? I have a Sony mp3 not an ipod.

Wow, awesome to see some new people in here!

Today was W4D2 for me.

Running at 5:30pm on a Sunday is terrible, so many kids and teenagers out, haha. I'll stick to my sunset running from now on, and maybe try to schedule them all for weekdays.

These W4 workouts are really tough!!! I can't imagine moving on after just one more, but I guess I'll see how the next one goes.

Woohoo!
This morning was my seventh W1 workout, and I FINALLY got through the whole thing, running every second that I was meant to be running!

I'll do one or two more, I think, and then at last it's on to week 2. At this rate it'll take me till Christmas to finish the program, but as long as I can keep logging on here and reading how well you're all doing on week 3 and 4 and 5 and more, I'm not going to give up. I'm with Fat Chick B Gone - you lot are inspiring!

Hi Everyone!
I read someone explaining c25k and decided it was something I MUST try. I don't have a treadmill so can I run outside? Anyone else run outside? Also where can I find the podcast for my iPod with the times? I am not starting just yet because I have a nasty cough I am trying to get over. Hopefully I will be able to start next weekend!

Hey xGurlyGrlx! I run outside... I like it much better, hearing the birds and the wind in the trees, and feeling the sunshine or watching the sunset. (I also like running into a strong wind, stepping on crunchy leaves and branches, and splashing through mud puddles, but those make me sound kinda crazy, lol.

If you haven't looked at the actual plan yet, here it is: http://www.coolrunning.com/cgi-bin/m...1;s=2_3;site=1

A few pages back we talked about the podcasts a lot, and how to get them. (I don't use them, but a lot of people find them very convenient.)

Good luck and have fun!

I did it! I did it! W5D3! I ran for 20 minutes straight!

I'm so absurdly happy about this... (Can you tell?)

And I'm sure I wouldn't even have attempted it today without the motivation I get here - so thank you, dear ladies, and welcome, new runners!

Hi all!

Heffalump!!!! You are my hero!!!! I am so impressed!

This morning was W5D1 for me. I meant to do it yesterday, but I was at a dog agility trial all weekend, so that wasn't going to happen. Anyway, this am - well, it wasn't that much fun to be honest. I was sore and my body just felt tired. My quads got really grumpy in my first 5 min run, and the 3 min walks seemed to go by too fast! I'm sure I was running SUPER slow, but I did it! And I didn't quit! I even ran a new route today - on a dedicated bike/walk trail so I wouldn't have to mess with traffic lights. I think this may be my new daylight route!

Keepin on keepin on!

Welcome to our awesome new runners-to-be! I am so glad you joined us! Take it slow, and have confidence in youself - I could never have imagined when I started that I was capable of running 5 minutes! But I did! If I can, so can you!

See you all laters!

Great job everyone!
Today I did W2D2. I actually jogged a bit longer on the very last interval, just to see what would happen (like I would explode or something LOL). I did an extra 30 seconds and it was okay!

I use mapmywalk.com to figure out how far I am going. I need to map out a 3 mile route and make sure I get that whole thing in, even though I will be walking past the actual workout time.

Everyone is doing so well....it's nice to be able to jog outside now that the snow is finally gone, and the weather is warming up. I was actually sweating during my jog today!!
Today was my first attempt at W2D1....quite a workout, but I enjoyed being outside so much, that I didn't mind.
Have a great week everyone!!

Whoohoo Heffalump - isn't it the best feeling ever?!?! YAY!!

Me_Amarie - I had no idea you were an agility nut! I'm running two dogs currently (Corgi and a Bernese Mt. Dog) but lately we're more into herding and rally :-)

Welcome, newbies! Happy Running!

I did W6D1 today...it was tough because I'm having nose issues. Funny, running is much more difficult if you can't breathe through your nose. *sigh*

I will finish up W4D3 today. It's kicking my butt. My 3 min runs are slowed down because I know I don't have much time to recover before the 5 minute runs. I love running on Sat and Sun late afternoons. The track is quiet and I can relax and focus. I love running outside. The fresh air is fantastic!

I'm so afraid of Week 5. Especially, Day 3. I'm trying not to think about it. Each week I think I can't do it, and I'm always surprised to find out I can!

Berner - haha we're everywhere aren't we? I am currently running my, oh lets call her a corgi X, in novice - we don't have weaves yet, so we're still REALLY wet behind the ears. My girl is 1 part torpedo and 1 part spaz - there is no way I can keep up with her on the course, but my running is helping. Her only Q and place out of a 2-day trial was in tunnelers. Heehee. Congrats on W6D1! WTG!
