Boy did I sleep!
I went to bed right after midnight and the first time i woke up was around 7 for the bathroom. I came out and let Rusty out then back to bed and slept til 10. It was so warm I stayed in bed til 11. Fitbit says I got 8 hours of actual sleep.Fitbit says I'm under training. Ha Ha Ya think? I guess Fitbit really knows what you do and dont do. I wont exercise today, but soon. I think we might go to Walmart today and maybe Goodwill. They are open today. We didnt go on Monday like we usually do.
The books I read recently both emphasized the importance of exercise for blood sugar control. They mostly discussed Insulin control because the Insulin is what really causes the problems. Exercise lowers blood sugar and therefore insulin. The last time i was exercising regularly I had an A1C below 6 and very low triglycerides. I hope I can do that again.
I want to start eating more protein. I havent been cooking as much lately and DH never cooks meat. So the only protein I get is in the eggs I eat and when we eat out. We received a Texas Roadhouse gift card for Christmas that will be good for at. least 2 visits. That is DHs favorite place to eat out. My favorite is Rodneys, but some of the choices there are high carb so we rarely go there anymore. Tx Roadhouse has a lot of choices for me but I hate waiting to be seated. I've been signing in online lately when I remember and that helps. They get crowded every day, not just weekends. I think i would like to go there today. Ill see what DH thinks.
Weight down 2 lbs today so that means I am only up 4.6 lbs since Jan 1st 2024. Not sure it was worth eating what I wanted for the holidays.
Today is day 3 of my lower carb, high protein woe. I am thankful for the 2 lb loss to 163.6 lbs and my FBG was 105, and BP 120.60. So this is going very well so far. Balancing my calories, carbs and protein is working. Fiber seems to be 11 to 12 g and I will work at slowly increasing fiber some but not going to worry about going too high.
I read when riding the incumbent bike and ended upped my minutes to 20 yesterday. I would love to get back to doing 30 minutes on it like I did years ago. We are having tilapia today and veggies. Still got exercises to be done today.
Hope everyone has a nice day.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another good eating day. 3 successful days behind me and so happy with it. Looking forward to another one tomorrow.

We went to Texas roadhouse. I had the rib appetizer for my meal but with the huge breakfast DH cooked I had 1900 calories today. I dont want to get on the scale tomorrow. Im going to have to tell him to cut down on what he cooks in the morning. My breakfast was over 500 calories.
I hope I sleep good tonight like I did last night. The bed felt so nice and warm. I didnt want to get out.
We went to Walmart but didnt get a lot. The only meat I bought was a whole chicken. They didnt have any last time. I want to roast it like a rotisserie chicken. None of their other meat appealed to me. All DH buys is candy and Twinkies.
We didnt go to Goodwill at all this week. We planned on going but didnt. Its up to DH. I only go if he wants to.

I was very hungry this morning so I didnt tell DH to cook a smaller breakfast, but it ended up with only 372 caloriesand 18 carbs. Yesterday he added corned beef hash and today we dont have any. Thats much better.I hope to stay under 1200 for the day from now on.
Sleep was ok,but not good like yesterday.Scale is the same for the third day, 180.6. Not good! I would like to lose 1 lb per week for the year. Ive tried this in the past with poor results. But that doesnt mean I cant do it!❤. I can do it!
We thought of 2 things,we forgot when we went to Walmart, pretzels and carpet cleaner for our carpet scrubber. Lots of places, sell it but only Walmart and Kohls sell the kind we like. We got a Kohls gift card for Christmas but I wanted to buy an i-robot vacuum with that. I dont go to Kohls much so I will just get the cleaner at Walmart.

Day 4 on my new woe and it is working. The weight I gained during the holidays are coming down. Moderately low carb but not keto low carb and eating more protein is the key for me so far. Weight this morning was 161.8 down 1.8 lb. I'm not worrying about the calories so much as I am watching to eat the amount of carbs and protein that I need. I will have to be sure to eat enough sodium while doing this as it was low yesterday and bp was 99/65. Calories 1434, carbs 63g and protein 153g. That protein is between the low and high amount I am supposed to have.
Carol Sue I almost always get home from the store having forgotten to get something I need. I need to do a better job of keeping a running list of what we need before we go to the store each week.
I have to get my exercises done today because I won't do any tomorrow since I have infusion and appointment with my team nurse. I will make up for tomorrows exercises Saturday. So need to get busy.

Im glad you are settling into your woe and its working. This is what we need. I need to do this too. I talk big but dont follow thru. I will this time.
I talked DH into buying a rotisserie chicken. I want it but dont feel like d my chicken today. I'll have it for the future. DH made Fettucchini Alfredo Pastaroni for his lunch and instead of eating some I put it away for a side with chicken. I will cook a vegetable too. DH will want fried potatoes but I dont want them. Im tired of them. I will end the day with 1145 calories, 76 carbs. This is what I want, under 1200.
Our weather is turning very cold this week. Plus they are predicting a little snow in the next few days. Winter is here! But im counting the days til spring. One pound a week will have me in the high 160s by spring! I havent set a real goal in ages. I dont know if I can stick to it. I get no support here,he just encourages me to eat, and I hardly need encouragement fir that! I have to set my mind to it every day, and to eat the right foods. Its so easy for me to get off track.

I am actually enjoying my woe. I'm even enjoying planning my meals and keeping them within the amounts I want to keep them. I know the way I feel right now is the newness of what I'm doing, I just hope that I can continue to enjoy this rather than get bored and move away from it. I really believe this needs to become a lifestyle for me NOT a diet.
Your rotisserie chicken makes me want to get a chicken and air fry it. I might get one next week when we go to the store to cook or whenever I go to the store again. Our weather is going to get very cold here next week and there is a chance of ice. I heard it may hit Jan 8th, but I hope it will be after we get our teeth cleaned that day. DH always gets his cleaning first and I get mine when they are finished with him. He goes to the store while I get my teeth cleaned since Walmart is one block behind dental office. He always gets a chicken that is too big. If they are too big, they have a tendency to be tough. We have a chance of ice next weekend possibly starting on the 8th and lasting through the tenth.
I hope it clears up since I have an appointment on the 14th to get a perm. I'm going back to my curly shag cut. DH likes it better and it is much easier to keep.

I think the bigger chickens are roasting chickens and the smaller ones, are frying chickens. I always get the smallest one they have ,under 5 lb. I roast them in the oven like I do a turkey.. I like the rotisserie chickens because of how they inject them but i know they are full of sodium. If Im near Aldi I like to get one there. They are small. Did you ever cook Cornish Hens? My mother used to make them. Sometimes she would stuff them and each person got their own hen. Just like chicken. I would make them but i dont know if DH would eat it because he only eats white meat. My mother made them because they are small and cook quickly!
The word diet actually means the way you eat. Somewhere along the line people started to consider diet to mean weight loss diet. Your WOE is just your diet. Doing IF and exercise included makes it a lifestyle when combined with your WOE.?
I think DH will want to go to the casino tomorrow. I never want to go but I do it for him. I will make sure I have something to read.
Carol Sue I used to cook and eat Cornish hens and love eating them, but don't buy them anymore because DH doesn't like them. I never heard him say why, but I wish he would because it would be a great meal.
Headed to bed early. I'm sleepy and will go to sleep early so I can get up at 7:30 am since we have to leave at 9:30 am. I have no idea what we are going to get to eat. Pizza would be a good change. I will just drink a protein shake for brunch while getting my infusion and then drink another one tomorrow evening as I never how to count the calories on pizza.
Hope your day at the casino goes well. Hope we get a good nights sleep.

Scale is down.8 to 179..8.
Sleep was ok but not great. I was up 3 timesfor the bathroom and got up the third time around 8:30. We went to bed early but watched TV for a while.
We got 1-2 inches of snow overnight.
We have to go to Walmart this morning. DH needs one more thing to finish fixing the bathroom sink. I had to brush my teeth in the kitchen this morning,we cant run the water in the bathroom sink. He had the pipe fixed in the basement then found another leak. This house is 53 years ols so things are starting to break down. I dont want to go out in the cold! Brrrrr. But we need other things too and I dont trust him to get everything. I bought Miniature Peanut Butter Cups to bake cookies and DH ate them. So I have to buy more and hide them. He has his own candy.
So after i finish my coffee I will get dressed and we will leave.
Scale showed 161.6 and then bounced up to 162. I was up early and it might have been 161.6, but Dr. Westman said it will bounce so not to worry about it. Still don't know what we are going to eat today. DH wants to go to the local store which isn't always easy for me after infusion, but I will feel good enough to walk it.
Carol Sue Do y'all go to the casino today with the snow? I know y'all have snow tires and y'all have roads cleaned for driving than we do here.

The roads have been cleared and the snow is melting. My car is all wheel drive so we dont buy snow tires anymore. We buy all seasom radials. I dont think its going to snow anymore today. I hope not.
We went to Goodwill as well as,Walmart and I got a Dutch Oven. Its a Lodge, so a good brand. I dont know why someone woyld donate that unless someone passed away and the family emptied their house.
Nurse appointment and infusion went well. The nurse I saw today was my original team nurse when all this started 2 years ago. It was nice hearing her talk about how far I have come and how well I'm doing now. She reminded me of my original goals and I told her that I had patterned my life after my Daddy. He walked everywhere and stayed active until he had his first fall probably when he was about 95 yrs old. I told her I would still love to be able to eventually be able to use a cane instead of the walker but if I have to use it the rest of my life that is better than falling. I watched my step-mother fall or almost fall because her food would not turn when she wanted to and would lose her balance. She was blessed that my DBIL was there and caught her before she fell. She said, "At least your not in the wheelchair anymore". I am blessed.
I had the joy of watching a lady Ring the Bell and get her Certificate because she is cancer free. That is so exciting because it is so encouraging. I heard a lady stand in the waiting room before she left one day announce that she was cancer free, but didn't see her ring the bell. It was so exciting to see that. I couldn't clap like I wanted to because the chemo nurse had a needle in my arm trying to hit a vein. But she couldn't get the vein to take it and had to quit so I was able to clap carefully with everyone else. I told the nurse that I was going to do that someday as that is a goal I have. She said, "You will do it too".
Another nurse had to hook me up. I told the nurse that couldn't get a vein in my right arm that it was my fault because I forgot to tell her that when the weather is cold that I always have to have heat on my arm before we can put a needle in a vein. She has become the one that always gives my IV and has never had a problem until today.
I don't know if I told you that DS got the results of her 1st CT Scan and it said the tumor is smaller. So we are doing good and both of us are looking forward to Ringing that bell one day.
Didn't track today. We did have pizza. I did drink my 2 protein shakes.

Sounds like you had a good day all around,Trish, and your DS too! After the little boy next door finished his treatment they had a sign in the yard that said "Willy rang the bell!" I dont know whats going on with their new baby who I heard was born with cancer. We see her with him when she puts the kids in the car but dont talk to her now that its winter.
I wish I could walk better and would rather use a walker than fall. I worry about DH falling again because hes not careful
He came home from the casino with $650.00 but not a jackpot. We would have stayed longer but were afraid the roads would freeze. They were fine when we came home. Its supposed to be a cold snowy weekend. I plan on staying home. I would like to make chili tomorrow and I dont know what on Sunday. Or maybe soup. Something good for cold winter weather.
We bought a new bed for Rusty at Walmart and he loves it. We started taking his bed into the bedroom at night so now we dont have to keep carrying it back and forth. He likes to be where we are. We have never let any of our dogs sleep in our bed although many oeople do.
We need the whole bed for us!

Scale back up to 180.4 but im not surprised. We ate when we came home last night. We were both hungry . We usually stop at McDonalds and I eat a few fries but we stayed later yesterday and McDonalds was closed. I ate more chicken and leftover pastaroni.First week of losing 1lb per week isnt going very well.
DH wont want to go anywhere today because the Steelers are playing today. He usually watches football on Sat and Sun no matterwho is playing. He watches some college,Pitt,Penn State and Notre Dame.
I think he is finally finished with the bathroom sink. Ive been washing my hands and brushing my teeth in the kitchen. I have to wait until the sealing compound he used on it is completely dry so it doesnt leak again. He has the sink covered with a towel so I remember not to use it. Maybe after today I can use it.
