Trish, im so glad you are moving forward with your dental work so you can get your infusion. Thats the main event.

Your diet plan sounds good. I also don't follow all they say. I pick and choose for myself. I know you have more at stake than weight loss but you are doing well.

I read a short book called Grand Theft Weight Loss. It was not a diet, but pointers on how to control your overeating. How to react to a craving,to decide to give in to it or postpone it. Things that make your meal enjoyable. How to control portions, things like that. I want to reread that one. Now I've started one about metabolism , The Metabolism Makeover. I would like to read Metabolism Miracle but its too expensive for me. I take pointers from reading these books, some helpful, some not. They help spark my determination and keep me on course. I do best when all foods are allowed but portions are controlled. Nothing off limits.

My soup is gone. I want to make it more often but in smaller quantities. It will be nice over the winter, which will be here in a flash! I also want to make the bean salad. I will make it all and try to freeze half for another time..I want to keep up my vegetable and fiber consumption.

DH says we are going to Texas Roadhouuse. I think I might have ribs or shrimp, just an appetizer instead of a full meal. I can order a side with it. And I might order a Truly instead of a soft drink.
____________

I had a shrimp appetizer and broccoli. We stopped at Goodwill on the way home and I bought a rebounded for $5.99. It has a handle to hold onto but I would have not bought it without it. If I can't do it I will sell it. I would have not bought it for more money. We had one years ago but it didn't have a handle. I have been watching videos on how to use it. It is good for you're lymph system.

I again slept until 3 am then got up for the bathroom. Came back to bed, took Tylenol and Benadryl and slept til 8:45. I could have fallen back to sleep but got up to see Kelly And Mark Live. Seems like I'm developing a sleep routine. I don't usually pay attention to what time I get up for the bathroom.

DH has informed me we are going to the casino again today. I don't want to go but I can't complain because it is money we won,not from the bank account. I did not ask which casino we are going to. If we go to the casino we don't eat dinner. Thats a good thing. At the old casino DH gets a hot dog and French fries for the long ride home. At the local casino he stops at McDonalds on the way home and gets a cheeseburger and fries. I don't eat that late at night but I eat a couple fries. He just told me we are going to the local casino and we are never going to the old one ever again. I've heard that before. We are supposed to go back for the drawing for people who won in July, which DH did but I don't know if he wants to go or he forgot about it. They call names of people who won and they win free play.

I accidentally posted this in the 2023 thread so I copied it.

I think I'm very confused.

I received a bill for a Dr visit in Sept. I usually pay my copay at the time of service but I just paid it online without knowing what it was for. The best way to find out what it was for was to look on this forum because we always discuss our appointments. It was the appointment to discuss my heart procedure and they didn't charge for my copay. When it happened, insurance denied it because I was in the hospital and had been released that day,but I just went across the street to the doctors office. I assumed they just resubmitted the charge. I don't know if they ever got the insurance payment but at least I've paid the copay.

Carol Sue Metabolism Miracle sounds familiar. I may have done that diet when I lived in SC but I think there was a formula you had to do and if it is the one I did it became too much work to figure things out to fool with it. The short book you are reading reminds me of Gina Stephens book I think was called Delay Done Deny. I kind of liked that woe but I wasn't disciplined enough to do it back then.

I hope you have a good day at the casino.

I gained 3.8 lbs this month. I ate like a horse yesterday so weight is back up to 157.4 lbs this morning. I've got to get back on plan. The problem is "what plan". I want to eat some foods I think are important and don't want to ban any foods. Strange how you and I seem to think the same way sometime. I think that has to do with the fact that we ate so much a like when growing up. I want to eat healthy, but I really believe some fruits like berries protect us from having strokes, etc and veggies are very important for the fiber. I don't have to eat grains etc to get fiber because I believe I can get it from the low carb veggies and fruits. I just don't think I am a carnivore person nor am I a high fat/protein eating person. I feel like there should be a balance. I could be wrong, but that is how I feel.

I also believe that portion control is important. One thing that WW did for me was it taught me portion control, but I don't want to do WW either mainly because I don't want a diet plan to follow because I'm not sure diets work. One good thing that I can say comes from the chemo medicine I take is that it curbs my appetite. I hope it will still do that this time as well. I will probably use MFP to keep track, but just eat what I want and just count calories and just watch the not to let the carbs get to high and do what oncologist said to keep my fiber in a good neighborhood because I have to be careful not to eat too much fiber.

Have a nice day everyone.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Teeth are done. Didn't stop me from eating. We got McD CB and fries and it was really good. I'm ready to get my chemo infusion tomorrow. I still have some exercises that I didn't do this morning and I want to get them finished for today because I probably won't do any tomorrow although we will probably go to the store over by oncology that has a great selection of fresh veggies and I'm out of lettuce. Hope your casino trip is profitable today.

I'm glad you are finished with dental work and ready for chemo infusion.
We are still at the casino. DH won $1100 and is still playing. I'm done. I'm ready to leave. I want to leave in time to get McDonalds. I think they close at 11. DH never wants to leave.

Hello ladies! It has been quite a while since I've been on and just wanted to say hi! A few things have been going on with me but thankfully, nothing too dramatic. I had been doing pretty well with my blood sugars on the Trulicity, but with the difficulty getting it my doctor had to change me to Ozempic which I don't really like. I hope to get back on the Trulicity when the backorders are done. I also have been having some tendonitis and fallen arch issues and the podiatrist put me on steroids for a week. As expected, my Blood sugar shot into the stratosphere so I ended up back on the glipizide to get it back down. It's still not back to where it was but hopefully it will sooner rather than later. As a result of the ankle boot and now brace I can't really do any exercise so losing weight is a bit more difficult but I cooked several meal options so I can just go in the fridge and get some soup, pot roast, santa fe chicken or chili. My kids are both working so they eat some too. I need to add in more veggies again too.
My weight has been fluctuating the same 10 pounds for months, though I haven't really been consistent about eating right. I haven't been on here since January and I was pleasantly surprised that I have actually lost 9 lbs since then and 16 lbs since I was at my max last year so that has been good for me to see! I do want to get back on my intermittent fasting, 16:8 worked great for me and I really need to get back to the habit of not eating late at night. It causes a lot of spikes in my blood sugar. Today is day 1 for my eating so I hope the diet change ends in some weight loss. Can't wait until this foot is better so I can at least walk in the park. Glad to hear about you all! I will try to be more diligent with posting!

I. Slept good. Woke up for the bathroom around again then took Benedry! And went back to sleep until 9:45. I took just Tylenol when I went to bed because my body was achy. This combo is helping me sleep but I would rather be getting my sleep naturally. I think my Magnesium expired so I'm afraid to take it.

Hope all goes well with your infusion.

I wish DH had woken me up for Kelly Ripa Live. She had ado for on talking about the weight loss injections . I only saw a small segment of it and he said most of the weight loss in the beginning is muscle and older people shouldn't be losing muscle. Also,to retain your loss you have to take it the rest of your life. He will not wake me up if I'm sleeping. I might have to start setting my alarm clock. He doesn't understand how important this is to me.

Headed out for infusion and store after. BP will be high when I get there cause I just had to have my cup of coffie. Weight is up to 157 lbs. I've got to get my act together while still in 150s as I don't want to get in 160s.

DS went to the doctor and she has lost 16 lbs since May's visit. She will be able to have knee surgery soon he said.

BBL
----------------------------------------------------
I woke up early enough to so most of my exercises before we left and didn't eat anything. Just had the collagen coffee before I left. Infusion went very well. Then we went to the store and got lettuce for my salad and got some more cottage cheese. I was never a cottage person until recently. I like it with tomatoes and cucumbers and also like a dessert I recently made with cottage cheese, SF jello and SF cool whip. Can't make much of the dessert because I can overdo it. We got Arby's French Dip sandwich for dinner. We have decided that one sandwich is too much so from now on we will get one and just half it. I think it is because it was way too much bed since we don't eat much bread anymore. Any way today will end up being a 1 meal and 1 snack day for me.

I was playing a pc game yesterday and one of the question asked if it takes 3 or hours or did it take 6 to 8 for a meal to be digested. The answer was 6 to 8 hrs. I used to go 5 or 6 hrs or more between meals when I was younger. Then when I first started IE, it was not unusual for me to go 5 to 6 hours between meals. Upon seeing that on the game. it made me realize that it is okay if I go longer hours without eating. I remember I was on an IE group and asked how long was a safe amount of time to go without eating and they said no longer than 5 and should be 4 hrs between meals. Now people go days without eating on IF. I'm beginning to wish I had never asked that question. I was very happy the way I was and I was effortlessly thinner

Now I'm tired and think I will take a nap.

When I was younger I never paid much attention to how long I went between meals. Since my first weight loss at 21, i have never eaten after dinner and had an early dinner. I love when my stomach growls during the night. But I never go long between meals during my eating window. Rarely more than 5 hours. If I'm hungry when I go to bed I am not hungry when I wake up. If I eat before bed I'm starving when I get up. I don't understand that. I guess its the way the body and hormones work.

Momtopands I just saw your post. I don't think it was on here earlier. It is good to see you here and it looks like you have been through a lot the past year as it has for Carol Sue and me. I hope your foot gets better soon so you can get back to your routine. We are working to do that too.

No side effects from the chemo medicine so far except I've been hungry all day and not sure if I was hungry or just the fact that I was so tired. I'm bad about eating when hungry. Tomorrow I will get back to eating healthier. One thing I did do was my exercises. I did most of my exercises today before leaving for treatment even though I was going to walk at the store. So I got a lot of exercise today. I hope that helps with my bs reading in the morning.

Power just went off at 12:30 am. Hope it comes back on soon or it is going to be hot sleeping.

Goodnight.

Sleep was ok. Still not weighing.

I didn't see your post either Mom to lands but it looks like we were posting at the same time.

Im sorry to hear you are having foot problems. I had that a few yearsback. My PCP told me to see a foot doctor, but I never got around to making an appointment. Eventually I asked him to test me for gout. Lo and behold, that was it! And I'm now on gout meds. He didn't think it was gout because my pain was never in my big toe. The meds also fixed the pain I was having in my elbow and hand. It effects all joints. I don't have problems eating pork but I think mine was from dehydration.

I have to take a steroid when I get certain heart tests done and that spikes my blood sugar, too. Now I'm on a fluid pill which dehydrates me and also raises blood sugar.

One thing you missed is I had TAVR to replace my aortic valve. That was in October, but my energy level is still low, Around that same time they discovered I have Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension. That might be playing a part in my fatigue. Getting old is not for sissies! I sometimes want to stop all my meds and start all over. My doctor wants me to switch to a GLP1 but he didn't mention which one by name. I've read about them and I dont like some of the possible side effects. I will see him again in October and discuss it further.

Trish, I'm glad you aren't having any side effects from your chemo so far. I'm also glad your numbers are all good. I think the exercise is helping. Exercise does a lot of things for your body. Its something everyone should do. I hate when I see it said that exercise is not needed for weight loss because its good for so much more.

I sure hope your power came back on. Our air condition has been running almost constantly and our temps never get as hot as Texas. DH keeps it very cold in here. I do remember that once the temps drop they drop quickly and its winter! DH mentioned that pre season football games are starting. Thats always a sign that summer is coming to an end.😥

Well, I paid for all that eating yesterday and the Arby sandwich. It is strange how you can be full and still hungry. Let's just say too close to 160. I think I'm just going to count calories and do IF/IE woe.

I don't know what time the electricity came back on. I woke up cold because the fan was on and covered up and went back to sleep. I started out trying to sleep in recliner but couldn't put my legs up because the backup went off and I was afraid I would need to go potty and couldn't get out of the chair so tried to prop my legs up and sleep sitting up in recliner and legs were too low and hurt so I just went to bed. The nice thing I found was that with the air conditioner and fans going all day the house held the coolness in the house pretty good. I'm not sure it would be that comfortable in the daytime. Just thankful it came back on.

Not sure what I want to eat for breakfast or even if I want it. I've followed a diet plan for so long that my body just wants to eat but not hungry for any particular food. In IE we learned that means we are not really hungry we are just following a clock and diet and it means we are overeating. I might get Gina Stephens book and read it again if I can find a cheap or free kindle book. I can see how IF/IE can absolutely work together if done properly. I want to get in touch with listening to my body messages again. I don't want to put anything in my mouth that I don't like or don't want just because someone decided whether I can or cannot have it.

Hope everybody has a good day.
-----------------------------
Reading a free kindle book title "Intuitive Eating for Beginners" by Monica E. Harris. Very interesting so far. I still have the original IE book by the 2 women but decided I wanted to read what someone else has to say especially since I can read it for free. Not expensive if I decide I want to buy it either.

We went to the local casino again today. I didn't want to go but I could tell things were going to be bad if I said no. We stopped at Wendys for chicken sandwiches on the way. I did well.I won $1100. DH spent some of my winnings, then he wanted to see the machine I won on and while I was showing him I won another $500, so that more than made up for what he spent. Its just so hard to get him to leave!

I don't think I have ant books about IE because I always heard it was not for weight loss but for binge eating. I don't agree with that but that's what I ever heard. It really makes sense that we should only eat when hungry. If it works for weight loss, so be it. We are all different.

I enjoyed seeing my grandson today. I thought it was just going to be him and his Mom but his Dad was with them. We had a basketball that we bought at Goodwill for DGS . I also bought an apron new still in the package and it had the Steeler emblem on it.DH wanted to give it to step son to wear when he's cooking outside but I didn't know if he would wear it.So I asked him and he said yes so I gave it to him. If he wasn't going to wear it I was going to keep it even if I didn't wear it.He said he would wear it when he's cooking for the Steeler games.

After my credit card was hacked I tell ok it off my Amazon account so I can only get books that are free. Remember the saw I ordered for DH and he ended up getting the bigger one again after we returned it? He gave it to his son. Son said if you get billed for it I'll give you the money for it. Im staying out of it. I don't agree but its his decision. He will have to answer for it when St Peter asks him about the saw he kept without paying for it. I don't want to fight about it. Maybe it was just meant to be.

You are not going to believe this, but I have to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow because we only have 1 egg. I never get below a dozen. But DH made hard cooked eggs twice recently and he makes 6 at a time. I usually have 3-4 dozen on hand at all times.I usually buy 1-2 dozen each time I go to Wal-Mart and I rotate then so I use the old ones first. I can't believe I only have 1 egg left.

I also eat breakfast automatically . I usually eat around 10-11,not right away when I get up. Im not always hungry but since I love eggs so much I crave them and I feel that I need the protein to start my day. DH is that way with dinner. He doesn't always eat breakfast but he really needs dinner. Step daughter is the same way. She has to have a full cooked meal and they don't eat til 8 o'clock and they go to bed at 9, with a full stomach. I could never do that. It seems that younger people eat a late dinner. I think the reason I rarely ate dinner is because I don't like meat a lot, and I never really learned how to prepare it. Now when my mother cooked,it was delicious and I always ate dinner. I could never make things as good as she did. She just learned by doing. I learned to cook going by what DH would eat.

I'm starting to get a craving for stuffed cabbage rolls again. That is something I could have every week but DH would get tired of them. My MIL made them every Sunday but DH didn't like hers. My sister in law taught me how to make them the way her mother made them and DH loves them. His mothers had a lot of rice in them and they were very bland.

I agree with you about not eating things you don't like because someone else thinks you should eat it. I decided several years ago that I would eat the foods I like, nothing not allowed. And I would eat them in proper quantities for my health and weight. Now its m thinking that its not worth king because I weigh more than I want to. Something needs to be revamped to produce a loss. Im just not sure what needs to change. Im getting nervous that I'm going too long without weighing, but a high number just upsets me. I dont want to get on the scale again until I feel like I'm in the low 170s,then start losing regularly and weighing daily. Something I read today said to weight every day then figure an average for the week, and compare the average each week. I dont know if I can do that. The number I see each day has an effect on me, and affects my whole day. I dont think I could ever get out of diet mode, I feel like I've been on a diet for 57 years. Weight is constantly on my mind and the most important thing to me. Do you understand that? I dont think I'm the only one who feels this way.

Well,DH went to bed so I think I will go too. Goodnight, all!😴

Carol Sue You go girl!! Win that money. If I could do that, I would go play too. I would do it like you do, I would play just the money I took to play with and then use some of what I won to continue playing. I would try to come home with more than I went with if I could. Or I hope that is what I would do. When I played the state lotto, I allowed myself a certain amount each week that I could use to play with. I always felt like it was just a game I was playing that didn't hurt anyone because it didn't come out of my budget for bills etc.

I had a partial cabbage head which turned out to be much more than I thought and I cooked it yesterday. We have cabbage to last for a month. I'm wondering if you can freeze it. I've never frozen cabbage and haven't seen it sold frozen. It is a good thing DH and I both like it. I got so mad at myself because I threw out the yellow squash my DBIL brought me a while back. He cleaned it cut it up and blanched it for me. I tell you that was the most beautiful squash I ever saw and I've never seen it that big. He raises a garden and brought it to me. Since trash is only picked up once a week, we take bones and food trash and put it in a Walmart bag and put it in the freezer so it doesn't stink up the house or garage and I thought it was trash. I only eat half a cup of cooked veggies a day and so veggies last a long time if I don't throw it out.

I like a lot of things I'm reading in the IE book, but we do eat pretty much by the clock because I want to do IF as well and try to stay within 7 to 8 hr eating window. I did 8 hrs yesterday. Had potty issues and legs were swelled so took an extra Lasix. I can't remember what I weighed this morning but think it was 156.4 (it could have been 155.8 but just settled on 156.4) so I was down 3 lbs from yesterdays 159.4 lbs. So today is a good day to get my act together and get back OP of moderately low carb. I had a lot of sodium the past few days because we had too many takeout meals. Plus I ate more fat than my body can handle. I plan to eat fat, but it will be fat of my choice of healthy fats like avocado. I want to start eating half avocado with eggs at breakfast and put the other half in my salad. I found out yesterday that an avocado in my salad takes it to a whole new level. So yummy. So I will start having the other half in my salad and hope what they say about fat being satiating is true and It might help me get back to eating only 2MAD. Not pushing that but will gladly go back to 2MAD if it happens.

I think I'm going to try to start having all my appointments in the afternoons. I was able to do all my exercises this week for 5 days plus the walk at the store 2X this week. I plan to do the vibration machine and HIIT exercises today so I will have some extras this week. Off to a good start with that. Also going to do my best to keep carbs moderate net less than 70 g and calories no higher than 1400 to 1500. Also working at eating real foods... very little diet foods although I am not eating real sugary foods.

Have a good day everybody.

I Usually like to have all my appointments early in the morning to get it overwith so I have the rest of the day free, but when the time comes I hate getting up so early.

I only like going to the casino when I win and you can't win all the time. I dont like to tell DH that I won because he wants to spend it and I like to take it home. When we have a win like that we don't have to take money out of the bank for a while, and its always after the bills are paid.

We went to Bob Evans because we didn't have eggs. I bought 3 dozen when we went to Walmart. It was crowded. We don't usually go on Saturday. I bought vegetables for soup and cabbage and meat for cabbage rolls tomorrow.

This is so funny. A couple weeks ago I bought chicken livers, put the carton in the fridge and forgot about it. I looked in and saw it today and it was all swelled up. I told DH it was going to explode. He threw it up on the hill behind our house where we put old foods to feed the critters. He said when it hit the ground it exploded. So there are spoiled chicken livers all over the hill. If the critters don't eat it, it will just rot there. They might be in an inner package so they might not be scattered.

I think most people eat by the clock, having breakfast when they get up, lunch at noon, and dinner at the same time every night. If you have a family everybody won't get hungry at the same time. I read that we train our body to get hungry at certain times according to our eating schedule. Most of my life I ate to avoid hunger. I was so afraid of getting hungry. Even to this day I'm shocked to realize when I feel hungry . I think my overeating started because I didn't know what time my next meal would be, so I ate so much so I would not get hungry
I ate a,sandwich when we came home from Wal-Mart so I won't be hungry for dinner tonight.

Carol Sue I always try to keep at least 2 dozen eggs in the fridge. I've decided that I happen to like my eggs, bacon, toast and 1/2 small avocado for breakfast so that will be my breakfast most days. That gives me the healthy fat they say we need as ut has such good benefits. So they claim. I will eat whatever we plan to eat for main meal. Years ago I went on a on a 3 or 4 day diet with DS and her fellow workers and the diet ended each day with a scoop of ice cream. So I decided today to make a scoop of Carb Smart ice cream or a bar of Keto ice cream be the last thing I eat for the day. Today my eating window ended with the CS ice cream and I ate it within 6 hr eating window. I figure I've done this before so there is no reason I can't do it again. I just have to set my mind on it and do it.

When I worked in fast food, my meal was free so I ate only one meal a day at work. When single, I ate only one meal a day so not sure why I have such a difficult time doing that now. Todays main meal was tilapia. Not my favorite fish but DH likes it so I eat it once in a while. When married to DH#1, we went through a difficult time financially and could only buy food on hid Dad's credit at a little store. We ate a lot of can goods that my kids liked growing up, but when that is your only choice it became food that I can't stand to this day. I think sometimes I have a problem overeating because some of the feelings I had back then comes up and makes me feel like I'm going to go hungry. I know I am going to have food but it is strange how some things can bring back memories of tough times. I am so thankful my life is so much better now.
