Go figure. You could cook them for a meal and he might not even eat them. My DH always orders chicken legs when we go to KFC and I usually get 1 leg and a thigh. One time we got home and he decided he wanted the thigh. I think it is a guy thing. I remember cooking chocolate pies for years for my Daddy because Mama made them for him because it was his favorites and then one day after she died I heard him tell someone that lemon was his favorite.
One time when DH#2 was a deputy sheriff in south TX and his brother was policeman in the little town we lived in, I saw a car sitting in front of the vacant lot next to our house and across from the police chiefs house. I called it into the police office. I swore I would never report anything ever again. I think every police and sheriff's car came to my house. It turned out to be 2 kids parking there instead of at the park. I think it embarrassed the heck out of them, but I knew one thing being an officer's wife, I was very safe. LOL
From what I've read on the calorie counting groups on FB, the key to losing weight is eating enough protein and fiber. They don't worry about calories being too low as they say the protein and fiber is what keeps you satisfied. I think I will end up doing this IE/IF woe but more IE. I actually got hungry and thought of the different foods I have in the house and what I could to hold me over until dinner. I had just a few spoons of cottage cheese left and DH had some mandarin oranges in a can in the fridge so I took a couple of spoons of the oranges and mixed it with the cottage cheese and it made a nice protein snack. This is going to be so much easier to do. I will go back to using the lower fat versions of milk and dairy products just because I don't like the high fat foods.

We,sent to the local casino and lost. So that's 2 loser days in a row. I think k the times we won there were flukes because we went there a couple years and never won anything, then this year we've had a few good wins I was so tired and didn't want to go but I didn't want him to be disappointed. Now that we are home and its time to go to bc ed I'm not tired..
DH talked to the neighbor and he said he was sleeping at 7 am and didn't know what happened until DH told him. I think most of our neighbors were sleeping at that time. Most are retired.
Tomorrow we will have to go to Wal-Mart. because we are out of Kleenex and Paper Towels. We usually need milk and bread, too. This is funny. I don't usually buy orange juice but I was craving it, so I bought a little single size bottle labeled no sugar added. Because it was just enough for one I bought one for DH but a different brand because he wants sugar. When he saw it in the cart he said he didn't like the way it looked. He said he would take it back and pick out his. own. When he came to meet me at the register he had chocolate milk instead. We have Hershey's chocolate syrup so he could make his own chocolate milk.
I don't think I would cook chicken legs for our dinner because he normally doesn't eat it. I used to cook legs and thighs for me and the kids and cook breasts for him. But if he eats some legs every time I cook them for Rusty he might start to like them. I like thighs the best but rarely cook them because the legs go on sale more often. If I was by myself I would be cooking them every week. I cook them in the oven on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. No seasoning.
I like cottage cheese but I quit buying it. Cottage cheese doesn't taste the same now as I remember it when I was younger. I don't like it real creamy. I buy Great Value 4% at Walmart. I don't like the low fat.
DH went to bed,so I guess I will too. I will take Benadryl to be sure I sleep.
7am, our Security camera went off. Front camera. DH looked out the window and said "The house is surrounded by Police.". He got dressed and opened the front door and the cop asked to come in. He,said *" We got a call from Angel that there's been domestic violence.". He came in the house, then the 2 other cops came up to the door. Then they said "Wrong address.". And they all left. I told him, they could have shot him when he opened the door, depending on what the caller had told them. My SIL is working overtime today or he would have heard the call of domestic violence at our house. He is fire chief so he hears all the police calls. When DH had his first heart attack he heard the ambulance call. He went home and got step daughter and then they came over to our house.
That must have been so terrifying! It's a relief that everything turned out okay, but I can only imagine how frightening it was in the moment. It's really unsettling to think about what could have happened, especially with such a serious mix-up. Thank goodness your DH stayed calm, and it's great that your SIL is in a position to be aware of these things. Hopefully, this kind of mix-up doesn't happen again.

Yes,Shirmarsh5, it was scary, but in a way, laughable. I would really like to know what, really happened, but its none of my business. If something went on at our house I wouldn't want the neighbors to know.
I slept well last night with Tylenol and Benedryl. From 12am to 9:15. With one wake up to go to the bathroom.
Monday is senior day at Goodwill and we have to go to Wal-Mart for a prescription and a few other things.
Back to my exercise routine today. We have decided we need to go to the store tomorrow. We don't go on Monday's because they are restocking from the weekend. We used to go on the days I go for blood work or infusions, but didn't like going on Friday because they are so busy with people shopping for the weekend. I thought we would wait until Thursday since my new infusion etc will be Thursdays, but we need milk as well as some other things. I would rather go to Walmart, but we are just going to the store closest to us. The sad thing is Walmart carries a lot of things I can't get at the local store, but the local store has better produce for salad. It is in an old part of town and I don't anyone eats healthy in that part of town. We get better health choices at the stores close to Sam's and the one near oncology. So anything I can't get at this store, I can go get when I go for blood work.
Weight bounced back up but stayed under 160. I had too much sodium yesterday. I'm not sure I will keep the cottage cheese in my diet plan. I can use yogurt instead and keep the calories and sodium lower. No longer in ketosis but not sure I will continue to try to do that. I like just counting the calories.

Shock! We left Goodwill without buying anything. Even with the discount there wasn't anything we wanted. We went to Wal-Mart but it was later in the day so they were out of some things I wanted. We usually go at 10am. They have done some stocking since they start at 6am but its not very crowded. It was more crowded today. I picked up my prescription but it was Lasix and I haven't been taking it lately. I can't take it if we are going out somewhere. And he wants to go somewhere every day.
I fell asleep while watching my soaps like I used to. I slept for over an hour. I think thats, why I feel better and not so tired. I hope this is going to be every day like it was.I think I really need that nap. It was almost 10 am when I got up.
The grocery store a mile away from us is expensive but its convenient to go there for a few things. The same with the store I go to for ground meat. Aldi is across the street from Walmart but I rarely go there. There are a few things I buy there that aren't sold elsewhere. I could never do all my shopping there like some people do.
Carol Sue A lot of people on the FB show a lot of the food they buy from Aldi's. I don't go there any more because I usually go to the local store that is close to it that has so much more healthy food choices that I want to get. I'm usually to tired to shop 2 stores especially when the local store is sooo huge.
I actually did a 5 hr eating window today. After seeing some of the foods the people on FB groups eat, I think I can do this way of eating work for me. Weight might not come off very fast, but it I would just like for it to some off steadily.

Trish,I have seen many people list the various foods they buy at Aldis for Keto. I can buy a lot of things there but they are not necessarily better or cheaper than Walmart. During the pandemic I noticed their eggs were higher than Walmart. That surprised me. The cheapest eggs I saw were at Dollar General and I made a special trip a few times just for the eggs that were $1 per dozen. Wal-Mart's large eggs are noticeably larger than at other stores. Since DH is primarily the egg cooker here he notices that the shells are thinner on some eggs. I heard that each egg has the same amount of shell material and the bigger eggs have thinner shells. That's useless information that no one cares about! For some reason DH likes the canned fruit at Aldi more than other stores,I dont know why. I like their frozen meatballs, frozen green beans, bags of frozen chicken tenderloins. They also have a great variety of packaged cheese. They are widely known for their fresh vegetables. I don't buy them much. People say you have to go early in the day for vegetables as they sell out. DH likes their potatoes. They are lower priced and very few bad potatoes in a bag. Wal-Mart potatoes are the worst. Always bad potatoes in every bag. Our local store also has good potatoes for a good price. And when I make stuffed cabbage I always buy the cabbage at the local store. Theirs is best. The heads have to be a certain size for cabbage rolls, and heavy. So I know the stores in my area and where to go for certain things. When DH had his broken hip I would not drive to Walmart. Parking is always terrible there. I only went to the local grocery. DHs favorite bread can only be bought at Walmart. When in high school step son worked in a grocery store. That store had the most beautiful fresh produce department. When I walked thru there I craved a salad. 😀
I want to make pork and sauerkraut today or tomorrow. Then maybe TX Roadhouse tomorrow.
Step daughter reads all the grocery ads to see what's on sale. She and her hubby go together every Saturday when they are both off. They go to Aldi, Save a Lot which is similar to Aldi,Walmart my local grocery and my meat store. It is an all day shopping trip for them. She cooks a full meal every night and he grills a lot. He has a smoker and 2 grills. One Thanksgiving they cooked a turkey in the oven and also cooked one in the smoker. When DH and I shop we go out separate ways. I hurry from one item to the next, but he looks at everything in the store. Step daughter and husband shop together and make decisions on what to buy. I like to be in and out,not take long. I don't like to shop in a new store where I don't know where things are.

Carol Sue When we lived in SC, I bought a lot of my produce at Aldis. We also had a Sav-a-lot and another store that was similar to them. I shopped all 3 of those stores when DH DD and her family lived with us so I could keep the kids eating healthy foods. The oldest DGS and the youngest DGD seemed to be in a contest to see which one could eat all the fruit first. DGS would get home thinking he could eat grapes or whatever and she had eat all of them. Aldi's had the most beautiful fruit especially strawberries that I ever saw, but you had to get there very early in the day and they couldn't get them on the shelf fast enough.
My DS is always grilling or smoking some kind of meat on the weekend for his friends and in-laws to come over to eat. His Daddy and I used to do that. In fact, I used to always grill on Saturdays even if it was just us. When I went to work at the prison, I took one of my days off to grill all our meat for the next week so that DH and the kids could just take out what they wanted, microwave it for their meal. I don't have the energy or the desire to cook like that anymore, but I think it is great that the young people do. DS makes the best jerky from all kinds of meat. When they came to see us last Thanksgiving, he had gone hunting with his boss for wild hogs and he brought some of the jerky he made with it and it was really delicious.
My weight is stuck at 159.4 which is not bad if I am losing slowly the way that I am eating. The nice thing is that this morning my FBS was 110, bp is stable around 105/59 and I was shocked to find that I was in ketosis this morning at 2.0 which is a very good place to be. That is while eating more carbs, but not high carb. So I do believe I have found a good woe for me.
My walking at the store is going to be extra exercise because I did all my regular exercises before going. I plan to be able to do things this way if I can make all my infusion/doctor/lab appointments later in the day. Since infusion only takes 30 minutes which means about 1 to 1 & 1/2 hr total by the time we get it all done, I will be able to get the exercises all done before I go. Plus DH will be able to get his sleep out on those days because he won't have to get up early.

Good sleep again last night. Up once for the bathroom.. I got up at 7 to let Rusty out.
The sauerkraut and pork is cooking. I will put the Lombardi and hot dogs in soon. They don't have to cook as long as the pork. Im making mashed potatoes and corn. DH usually does the potatoes but he was, sleeping.
I sat out in the sun for 1 hour. It was too hot to stay out longer. I have hardly any tan this year. The summer flew by!
I made beef jerky once in a dehydrator but I don't like the recipe for the seasoning. But I like store bought jerky. DH likes it. Step son makes it and also makes something from deer meat that is like salami. He butchers his own deer now which saves him a lot of money. He mixes the ground deer meat with store bought ground beef.
I too cannot be bothered with a lot of cooking. If I was alone I would never eat dinner. Brunch and a late lunch.
Carol Sue DH and I were talking about how we ate through the years. When I moved in with my aunt and she insisted that I eat breakfast, I didn't eat lunch. I had no choice but to eat breakfast because she got up first and had it ready for us to eat when I got up. I tried working through my lunch hour, but the company would not allow it and made me take a lunch break. Since I had eaten a nice breakfast, I wasn't hungry. I worked in downtown Dallas office so I would walk around the stores close by. That is when I rode a bus to and from work and if the bus wasn't in sight, I would walk to the next bus stop and if the bus wasn't seen, I walked to the next stop until I saw that the bus was coming and I would catch it at the next bus stop. I did the same thing in the mornings taking the bus to work. I had only eaten 2 meals a day when I was growing up so I still ended up eating only 2 meals a day. Instead of eating lunch and dinner as I did while growing up, I switched to breakfast and dinner instead. I really hope that I will be able to eventually go back to 2 meals a day like I ate back then.
Sounds like your Step son is a lot like my DS. He tries to eat as healthy as he can.
-------------------------------------------------
Did 8 hr eating window and went over my 1600 calories I allow myself. MFP shows that was okay because of all the exercise but the problem will be the high sodium. I could take an extra Lasix which I'm also allowed, but I won't. Just drink water and hope it helps so that my weight doesn't bounce up too much.

Sleep was good again last night. Up once for the bathroom. Took Benadryl and Tylenol after the bathroom. Did not use Cpap. I was up at 7 because DH got up. Now I'm watching Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos on Live With Kelly and Mark. I knew Kelly was mostly vegetarian. She says she occasionally craves steak and she eats it pretty rare. A good farmer could bring it back to life. Her husband on the other hand is carnivore, all he wants to eat is steak. They could go to a restaurant and buy one meal to share. I don't know who cooks at their house but they also have 3 kids and they need to be fed. Mark probably lifts weights because he is small but muscular. Kelly is small and very thin.. She exercises but not weight lifting. I like the beginning of the show when its just them but not the rest where they have guests. If I sleep too long and miss it at 9 its on another station at 10. Once the guests come on DH changes the station. I think its strange for a vegetarian to be married to a carnivore. He was on a tv show in Canada and lived in Canada. He came home occasionalky. Now he's off the show so he lives at their home in New York. It probably didn't matter what they ate when he was always away. He looks much healthier than she does. I think meat is important but so are vegetables. My opinion. I have nothing to back that up.
I don't think breakfast is necessary for everyone. When I was very small my mother made me eat breakfast but once I started school I felt nauseated In the morning and could not eat.I rarely ate lunch,so I was doing IF. The school lunch looked good to me but my Mom didn't have money for a school lunch. It was only 30 cents back then. We didn't have school busses and I walked to school. It was far, so I was getting exercise every day, plus we had gym class at school. I think children should eat something before school. I didnt, and my grandson doesn't either. He is not a breakfast eater at home. We used to take him out for breakfast and he would eat pancakes, and he would steal sausage off Pap Paps plate. Maybe if they gave him sausage in the morning he would eat. They don't buy cereal but he used to eat cereal at our house. Cheerios.
My step son has always been a meat eater but also ate veggies. Very little starchy food. He is not allowed to eat certain vegetables because he has a mechanical heart valve and takes Warfarin. If he eats salad, which he loves,he can only have iceberg lettuce. No leafy greens. He has to avoid vit B2. So no salad in restaurants, only at home.
DH is probably going to want to go to the casino. I used to think it was the long ride home that made me so tired but this one is only 30 minutes away or less and I get very tired. DH said "I dont know why you get tired, you just sit on a stool. Its just boring to me, unless I'm winning and you can't win all the time. The one machine I like has a $10k jackpot that I would like to win but what are the chances of that? I wish I could stay home.
Carol Sue You probably are tired after sitting and reading so long while at the casino. I know on days that I spend a lot of time reading, I am tired afterwards. I remember when I worked in offices where I was doing what I call "mental" work for 8 hrs and I was worn out when I got off work. When I worked physical jobs, I wasn't as tired when I got off work. It took activity for me to get rejuvenated after the office work. I always loved working jobs where the activity and mentality were more balanced. Plus you aren't eating and may not be drinking enough water. I know I don't drink a lot of water when I'm away from because I don't want to have to go to public potties. Just a thought.
Well, the amazing thing is that my FBG was 108 and I was barely in ketosis. Weight was only up .6 lb which I know was from the sodium. So it wasn't so bad. Decided to wait until I'm hungry to eat breakfast and haven't needed any as of yet. So may not eat breakfast today. I will track on MFP but not hit the complete button and won't have to see them fuss at me for not eating enough calories.
I'm cooking shrimp scampi today with pasta. I have figured out that I absolutely must have a salad most days. I was hungry all evening after overeating the fried chicken tenders we got. They gave us more chicken tenders than we ordered and my don't waste food took over, but still had leftovers no one will ever eat. I also ate some of the coleslaw DH had from KFC which has sugar. It didn't hurt my bs, but it made me hungry. I was hungry for my salad which tells me the salad is very important for me to have each day.
Hope you have a good day at the casino. Have a great day everybody.

I wanted to start eating salads again but I bought lettuce and it got thrown out today. I didnt make myself eat it. I thought i put Swiss cheese in my cart at Walmart but I didnt. They only had a huge package which was too much for us. I planned on getting it at the deli but I forgot. I like Swiss cheese in my salad. No other cheese.Since we shopped at 5pm lots of things were out of stock.
I never put sugar in my coleslaw and I dont think my mother did either. DH cleaned out the fridge today. There were several containers with food that went moldy. There were a few containers with beet horseradish from Easter! Now I will wash the glass shelves and be ready fore more containers. 😀. It looks,so empty now. I meant to clean it but never did.
I think I realize I will feel better when I become more active but I haven't done it yet. It is still hard to find a place to read at this casino. I just find a machine where no one is playing but sometimes I like to be with DH, or at least see where he is.
I have a recurring dream that we go somewhere and he leaves me there and I can't find my way home. He,says that means he's going to die, but I think it means I'm afraid he's going to die, the dream is,coming from my subconscious. I had the dream last night. I wake up scared. This dream was we were at the mall. He left me sitting at a snack table. I couldn't find him, or my phone to call him, my car key or the car. When I woke up I told him my dream. I told him if it had been our mall I would have known where to find him because the casino is at the mall.
I used to do a lot more walking at the casino but my balance is,very poor and I cannot walk well without holding onto something stationary. I usually build his arm when we walk. I can do well with a shopping cart and would do well with a wheeled walker. But not a cane. It is not steady enough. I have 2 walkers but DH says if I use them I will depend on them. So I hold onto chairs etc at the casino. Maybe my walking will be better when I exercise.
This morning my legs and butt ached as if I had been exercising but I had not. I do some walking around the house but not much. I'm becoming afraid of going down the stairs. There is cement at the bottom. It's know I need to exercise but I'm procrastinating!
The only way MFP sends my calories to Fitbit is if I hit complete. I have been way over my 1200 calories! I burn 1400 to 1600 per day but like to keep food at 1200. Even as low as 1000. DH cooks too much for breakfast. The mushrooms and tomato have very few calories. I don't have mushrooms every day. Just when I buy them and I only buy them when they are very white. When I cook them I peel them but DH does not. Its stupid, but I don't have to clean my plate at breakfast but I also don't waste food!

Tonight when we were coming home from the casino,a fire truck followed us down our road, sirens blaring and lights flashing. Then we noticed police everywhere, by the house where the domestic was supposed to be. Step daughter heard on the scanner there was a smell off gas. I hope b nothing blows up!
