Carol Sue, Congratulations on the 1 lb loss to 185.4. Won't be long till you will be in the 170s. The calories today won't be high and the carbs not really all that high with breakfast DH bought and the csino burger. Eating 2 meals with 4 or 5 hrs is a good thing. I know you read a lot at the casino so you have found a way to help you enjoy your time there.

Trish- I am doing pretty well on the weight loss front. In July, something shifted and after a two year plateau, the weight started coming off. I have lost 15 pounds since then! I wish I better understood what happened. Last month though, it stalled out again. I think it was mostly due to a lot of work stress. I now have a new job but it was really hard leaving a place that I had been for over a decade. I didn't want to leave. However, my new boss was really insecure and forced me out. Hoping now that the job change is done, I will start losing weight again.
Happy to see this thread is active again!

Pipsicle, Congratulations on the 15 lbs lost. I understand those stalls. I honestly believe that when that happens that our body needs time to adjust to it. However, I have also read that stress does also cause us to stall as well. Regardless of the cause, I hope settling into a new job will release you from all that stress.

I agree about the stalls, that our bodies are adjusting to the weight we recently lost. I've also heard that when we lose fat our bodies fill in the fat cells with water, assumes my that we will eat and regain the fat. When the body realizes that we are not regaining the fat it releases the water and we get a whoosh. I agree with you Pipsicle that it would be helpful if you knew what brought on the 15 lb loss. Then you could tell me!!

My weight went down to 184.6 but I was up half the night with potty issues so I don't know if this will hold.
We went to Wal-Mart and Goodwill but I told DH I wasn't going for breakfast so he ate at home. He made French toast and I cleaned up and threw the extra eggs away. I'm on this! If I hadn't been in the bathroom overnight I would have gone for breakfast. Once a week is ok.
I finally have my chicken in the oven. It was still icy inside. I have it on a beer can rack so all the fat/grease will drain off.
The casino was ok. DH broke even. I read a good book. I have a lot of free novels on my Kindle, I will probably never read them all.
Good for you for holding the 179, Trish. I'm coming!! I am at the point where I always bounce back up so wee will see what happens.

Update on reading the S uper Gut book by Dr. William Davis. This could get expensive but I think it could be done with more of a low carb or even keto. He mostly has you make and eat what he calls yogurt although he says it is not technically yogurt but fermented food made in a yogurt maker. As usual I don't want to cut back on some foods as far as he says or at least not at this time. I will start with the basics and keep wheat and grains at a minimum and see how it goes. Then after the hoidays, I may do the strict plan if I need to. I just don't want to spend all my time in the kitchen making so many different kinds of probiotic yogurts. I take this a little bit a time to learn how to do what is needed for my system. Might have gone the whole 9 yards if I had known about this when I was younger. Good info in the book.

Trish, I am not into yogurt making and fermented food but I hope it helps you.
I did well delaying my first meal today but I'm noticing some snacking sneaking in. I have to nip that in the bud.
The chicken was good. Similar to rotisserie. I had mashed potatoes and california. blend veggies with it. I don't know what we will have tomorrow. Maybe go to Bob Evans.
It has been light jacket weather lately but that is about to end. Down to 35 degrees tonight and just getting colder each day this week. I have 2 winter coats and I want to wash them. One is tan and one is navy and I alternate wearing them year to year. Last year was tan. I also have a leather jacket and a longer leather coat that I like to wear but they don't have hoods which are needed when its cold and blustery.
Now with the time change I'm wanting to go to bed earlier. Zzzzzzz

Carol Sue, I forget to Congratulations on the 184. It won't be long until we are both down in the 170s. Your roasted chicken sounded good.
I think the yogurt probiotics are good for us but I don't want to follow his diet plan. He mentions people eating keto and I've seen other low carb/carnivore docs talk about the probiotics so I don't think I have to go as strict as he talks about.
We are in the 80s for a few days and then we are going to go down in the 50s so it will be jacket time again for us. Today has been pretty good eating wise, Not sure what my calories were but the sodium has been too high. Could take a Lasix but really don't want to so may just skip weighing tomorrow. I'm sure tomorrow will be McDs CB for us. I'll bring mine home and put the meat on SLMG bread as usual. We don't like the fish we've been getting lately. It looks good but when I open the back the catfish is too fishy even after cooking and the cod is tough. It is the same brand I always get at Sam's but the quality isn't as good as it was. They didn't have it for a while and I think they must get it from some where else. Makes it hard to decide what to cook when you only have chicken, beef and pork to choose from.

Trish,I never cook fish. DH only likes fish breaded and fried. I used to buy these breaded Whiting fillets at Wal-Mart and I loved them but DH wouldn't even try it. They don't sell them anymore. It is hard to get good tasting fish in a restaurant. I love fish and used to eat mostly just chicken and fish. There was a guy named Ian who used to post on this forum. He lost a lot of weight and gave a lot of advice. He ate mostly canned fish. I think this is easier for someone who does not cook. I always wonder where these people go.
I recently got 2 free books from Kindle. One is How To Cook Fish and Pescaterian Diet and Cookbook. I haven't read them yet. Even if I learn different ways to cook it I know DH won't eat it. I'm just curious.
I have stopped buying a lot of things that I believe are healthy that I used to snack on, or things I planned to eat for lunch. If its here I will eat it and I'm trying to eliminate excessive eating when not hungry. I think this is helping me. Its saving money, that's for sure. When I lived alone I hardly bought any food. I always had eggs. I worked for a food distribution company and there was always a lot of samples to snack on. I didn't have much money after I paid rent , utilities, gasoline and other necessities. So eating at work kept me from starving.
DH made pancakes again this morning. There are 3 sitting on a plate in the kitchen. I would love to eat them! But I'm avoiding them and might freeze them. I can't bear the thought of throwing them away. I think its so unfair that I can't eat them. . I used to have a lot of pancakes in the freezer but threw them out when i cleaned out the freezer. Now I'm starting a new collection! I just love to eat a pancake topped with a fried egg but i have a very hard time stopping at one.
I have to eat down the freezer so I have room to freeze cookies for Christmas. The upstairs freezer is getting better but the small freezer downstairs is stuffed. Most of what I have is frozen vegetables and some bags of chicken tenderloins and thighs. I have a box of egg rolls and a box of frozen burritos. I bought them impulsively to eat as snacks. I should probably just throw them away. These are the type of things I have to stop buying.
I too am afraid to get on the scale today. When I hit 184 I tend to start back up. Maybe I will.
______________________________________
I got on the scale and its up to 185.0. I'm ok. I didn't think the 184.6 would hold since I was dehydrated from the potty issues the night before.
Also I broke my fast with 1 fried egg on 1 pancake. I froze the other 2 pancakes. Now to stay away from food until dinner. I can't decide what to have because I'm not sure where we will go, but I don't intend to cook.

Carol Sue, I got on the scale too and it was up to 180.6. So not too bad. I too am fine with that but want to be careful because I know I get here and then gain. Holidays are coming up and there are some things I want to be able to eat during that time and plan to just make them fit within my calories allowed. I have actually lost weight during hoidays years ago and I will try to do that now too.
Like you there are things that I don't buy any more either. Regardless of whether it is healthy or not and I can have them within my calories, but I don't need to buy them. For one thing I don't need them calling my name. Especially snack food.
DH is up early and we are headed to Walmart. BBL

Trish, in the past, especially when I was single and thin, I had a pact with myself not to start the New Year with holiday gain, and I don't want to do it this year either. The cookies I bake don't tempt me. They were always to be shared with the family and I was never big on sweets. On Thanksgiving I allow myself a serving of stuffing if its mine. I don't care much for others. I like sweet potatoes but not when they are loaded with brown sugar. Sometimes I take a tiny spoonful not to be rude. Christmas is the same. I like baked ham but not really the sides that go with it.
Today DH went out to play the lottery and bought cupcakes. He usually just buys white batter as he does not like chocolate. He said "I didn't notice that this pack had 3 white and 3 chocolate so you will have to eat the chocolate. ". I told him if I don't eat them just throw them away. He said he will give them to step daughter. He will do anything to get me off my diet!!
Here's to holiday losses for both of us! I want to start the new year firmly planted in the 170s.

Carol Sue, DH is a stinker isn't he. Maybe if he has to give it the food to your step daughter or throw it out to the birds, he just might learn not to tempt you with the food. Perhaps because he knows he needs to be more careful, he is wanting a partner in crime so to speak.
Thanks to you I was able to get the calf liver at Walmart today. Thanks for telling me about it. I had to ask a laddy who was filling orders to be either delivered or picked up, but she showed me where to find them. They had both beef and calf but I live the calf better so I was able to get 2 packages and I was so happy to see they are packaged like the ones I liked when I could to get it at only one of the local stores that carried it, but they don't have it all the time. II like them because they are easier to handle and we get 2 meals out of it. I was also able to get medium shrimp with the tail off so got a package of those as well to make shrimp scampi. Mine doesn't look like the scampi at Olive Garden but then we don't eat ours on pasta at home.
I ended up with 1 meal and a snack within 4 hrs but I still ate a lot of calories. I think I'm going to start eating my fruit in the morning along with some eggs. I had been buying brown cagefree eggs up until last month when I switched back to white because of the high price of the brown. I have one more carton of white, but they are so much smaller and just don't taste the same as the brown to me which are larger. Although they try to tell us there is no difference in the white and brown I still believe the brown eggs are so much better. When we had our little farm and I researched to raise chickens for eggs and meat, they always said the brown eggs were healthier and more nutritious. So I got spoiled with the brown eggs got when I raised my own chickens.
DH told me that his FBG was 114 today. Mine was 95. The interesting thing about that is that we ate corn on the cob with our meal yesterday. I don't really think it is necessary for us to give up grains. Anyway he thinks the beans may be what is bringing his BS down because it is always lower the day after we eat them. Also we didn't eat a lot of meat yesterday, but did eat green beans that I cooked with ham pieces in them as our main dish. I am going to soak navy beans tonight (the only ones he likes) for our meal tomorrow and will cook them with ham pieces. I will also cook a small pot of lentils for me. We eat them as a side dish for most meals although we also have days they are the main dish. I'm also thinking I'm eating too much food in order to eat just 2 meals are 1 meal and a snack within 4 hrs. So I may need to break my food up into 2 meals and a snack within 6 or 8 hrs instead. I will have to see how that goes. I still want to stop eating no later than 6 pm.. Which the time change I'm getting up early so I could do that very easily.

I am happy to say that the scale was at 184.4 this morning. This is a true reading because I had no issues. I hope I can keep from regaining.
Trish, I don't think too much food is an issue when you have a very small eating window. You have to eat a big meal to get all your nutrients. I lose much better with a 4 hour window.
Last night DH ate a chocolate cupcake and said it was pretty good. He ate the top with the icing and probably thought I would take the bottom but I didn't and he ate it. I am getting stronger at refusing things. Every time I refuse I get stronger. He doesn't ask as often now. I don't understand WHY he isn't encouraging me. When I first started gaining weight he wasn't happy and made a few comments. He likes thin women. He often tells me I'm fine as I am but there's a big difference between 185 and 135 that I was when we got married. I don't ever expect to be 135 again but 150 ish would be fine.
Sometimes like today I have trouble delaying my first meal. I want to eat but I can't really say I'm hungry. It is my nature to eat breakfast but skipping it allows me to eat dinner with DH which is what he wants. He still delays breakfast but not as long as I do.
I'm glad your DHs fasting blood sugar is improving. Mine is too, and also my post prandial. I have been taking half of my meds most days.
Today I want to do laundry and clean the bathroom.
I am glad the election is over. I got to the point that I didn't care who won as long as the ads stopped! They no longer tell you what they stand for but just criticize the opponent.

Carol Sue Glad you were able to keep the 184.4 lbs. I was back down to the 179.8 lbs so I feel the same way you do about being able to keep it. FBG was 94 so that is good too.
It is so obvious the little things your DH is doing to try to tempt you to eat the junk foods he eats. I agree that the more you resist the easier it will get for you.
Nothing new here. Beans is the main meal today for us at DH request. At this time it will probably end up being a 2 meal day within 4 hrs unless I do get hungry for a snack then it will be 2M + 1S within 6 hrs.
