Looked up galumpkis because never heard of them, but they sound good but another one of those things DH would never eat. Seems similar to the cabbage rolls Carol Sue makes.

Had a successful 2-meal eating day today. It would really be nice if I could turn this into a habit. Just have to take ODAT.

I had to look up Galumpkies, too. I thought they were the same as cabbage rolls. There are so many different names for them and even more different recipes. All in all, they are all meat wrapped in cabbage leaves. The stuffing recipies and the sauce recipes are different. Those eastern European countries all end their food with "kie."

I like pierrogies and anything doughy like them, like Asian pot stickers. I think I like the pot stickers better because they are filled with pork.

I have to get up early tomorrow for my doctor's appointment so I need to go to bed. Zzzzzzzzzzzz

back down to 154.5 today after OMAD last night. I had a long hike yesterday and was tired and almost not feeling well, so I felt I should eat last night. I can see that I am up and down and was maybe holding fluid with the eating I was doing. I will be happy to maintain for the next bit with going away next week and may not be eating on plan then. That is life and learning to eat to maintain is also important.

Have a good day everyone. Stay well

I,skipped 188 and went straight to 187! I did, however, have potty issues overnight so I doubt if I'm going to hold this. Being a little dehydrated might make my blood pressure lower at the doctor. That is my next hurdle.

Mad, good thing you ate if you didn't feel well. Do you think it was because of the long hike? What's the difference between a walk and a hike?

The doctor visit went well. No new meds or procedures. The overnight potty issues had me dehydrated which helped with blood pressure. Back in 4 months. We went to Bob Evans for breakfast afterward, then to Walmart for food and prescriptions. I already told DH I won't be hungry to go out for dinner. I think I will be wanting a tuna salad sandwich.

Our temperature is going up to 59 today, then back to cold for a few days. Then warmer again next week. Spring is right around the corner!! 37 more days!

Carol Sue Glad your doctor's appointment went well and no new meds. Sorry about the potty issues but it did work for you rather than against with the bp.

Fatmad, That is great that you are learning when you need to eat and when you don't. I'm sure eating after a good hike was very important. You don't want to get sick or even feel sick. When do you leave? Are you going to the cabin?

I guess Ann is traveling back home. Have a safe trip.

Busy morning. I was wondering where some of my bills were and found them in a stack of junk on the couch. I'm going to have to watch more closely what I'm doing. Thank God they will be on their way now with payments and nothing will be late. I just like paying them the day after I get them. I have no idea when I got them.

I got hungry for a tuna salad so made a big one that I can eat off of for a few days. Some of that was breakfast this morning. Liver and onions are planned for dinner today but that is subject to change depending on what DH wants.

No weight change except for bouncing tenths but still within 183 range. I want to change something, but think I need to just be consistent with what I'm doing. I did exercise this morning. Weather in the 70s so drinking water will be easier.

DS called when she got home from beauty shop and as I thought, our beautician is planning to start working from home in the near future. I will have her shape and perm my hair at the end of the month and then if I have to get someone else do it, I will have her give me the instructions for my perms and recommend someone closer to me when she moves.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I wanted to let you all know my step son has no cancer! PTL for prayers answered.

Trish, I pay all my bills at one time once a month. The last one to come is the gas bill. When that comes I know its time to pay them. That schedule works well for me.

I ate my tuna sandwich so I'm done for today. DH is having a home made burger and fries.

Carol Sue, Thank God that your stepson has no cancer. That is wonderfu.

I probably should wait until everything is in to pay the bills all at once. I just love being able to pay them as they come in. I went through a difficult time when DH#2 was sick and had to go on SSI and couldn't work and the money was so hard to stretch just to pay bills so once I married DH and don't have that problem it is a true relief to be able to send a check back the day or day after I receive the bill.

Neither of us wanted liver. We both love liver and onions but you have to be in the mood for it. We had salad and soup. He had cream of chicken and I found a can of lentil soup. So I'm through for the day.

Last night I needed a little something. I remember a lady in WW years ago who said that if you are really hungry a piece of celery will taste good. I wanted just enough to take off the edge so I heated a cup of chicken broth and got a small piece of celery and it hit the spot. I laughed and thought to myself, "She was right. It worked".

Trish, I remember when my mother would give me something to eat that I didn't want and she would say "If you were really hungry you would eat it."

I got my hair cut short today. I was trying to see how long I could grow it then all of a sudden I wanted it gone. It sure kept my head warm this winter! DH is glad I got it cut. I will have to do my highlights again, soon. They are all cut off.

I don't make onions with my liver. I just grill it. DH won't eat it so I cook it for myself when I have something else to make for him. I haven't had it for months. Maybe soon.

Step son is coming home tomorrow. He won't be able to go back to work for awhile.

Back home again, and the scale saga continues,

Got up yesterday and I was up 2 lbs, DBF was up 3, well that made me feel a little better. Looking back at my food, I see my sodium was over 2200 mg, we had some chicken sausages at dinner and I had a slice of bacon at breakfast, those were the big contributors. Still having bathroom issues. My daughter Kelly is a nurse and works in a nursing home, she told me they use Milk of Magnesia, 99% of the time it works in half an hour. I finally bought some on the way home and took it as soon as i got there. All I can say is it works like nothing I have ever taken before, it will be in my cupboard all the time.

This am I was 226.6, going to work hard to get calories consistantly to 1500, limit the sodium, and get in more steps. I am either all onboard with my food plan and striving to get in enough calories or I am off the rails, over eating, eating the bad stuff. I know life is about balance, I am an all or nothing girl, I have a hard time with moderation. I feel like I lost a whole month with not losing and I am going to blame it on covid, not getting enough exercise and not getting in enough calories so my body doesn't slow down metabolism. I am going to do better.

Looks like everyone is getting the scale to move downward. Congrats

Carol, so glad on the news with your step son. I am glad the Dr didn't add any meds and I hope you can find a way to improve your results with lifestyle changes. I bet the haircut feels good. I had really long hair all growing up, had it cut to shoulder length when I had kids and in the last 5 years I let it grow a bit. It grows fast, I go to hair dresser every 5 weeks for color because it grows about an inch and is obvious. About a year ago, each time I told her to take off 2 inches each time. Now it barely hits my shoulders and is layered. I feel like I need some fluff to it so my head doesn't look so small! A bit of natural curl shows up when I get it this short so I am loving it, and I might go a little shorter.

Patty the galumpkis I had were meat and rice or riced potato, I was told that back in Poland food was scarce, but they had potatoes and cabbage, so adding riced potato to the meat made it go further. when I make them I only use meat. Lately I use ground turkey. Sometimes I just make meatballs and cook in tomato sauce with the cabbage cut into small wedges. The epitome of laziness of not dealing with the cabbage leaves. I grow broccoli and always wondered what I could do with the big beautiful leaves, I asked the farm bureau and they said not only were they edible but the most nutritious part of the plant, so I have used those as well.

Mad, hope you have a nice time away. I discovered pot stickers last year, and let's just say, I don't buy them anymore because they are just too darn good to eat only 2.

My plan for the day is to clean up my kitchen and mudroom, I just have a lot of stuff to put away. I have to make sure house is safe for DBF dogs, they will chew and eat anything laying around and one of them will shred any soft toys, I have to hide some of Otis toys while they are here. They don't chew furniture but the younger one we have to keep a close eye on. She will go into the kitchen and pull the towels off the oven door handle and leave them on the floor; go into living room and pull pillows and blankets off the couch. She is 3 but when she does this she is telling us if we don't do something with her she is going to get into trouble, and she does.

I have to run to the local food coop and get a couple of steaks to grill tonight. I need to figure out dinner for tomorrow as it is going to be brutally cold all day. I think Keto Chicken Pot Pie will be perfect. Monday I will do turkey tenderloin with mashed cauliflower. I love that he is going on lower carb so I don't have to buy bread that I will eat, i will get low carb pitas and make up chicken salad for lunch. I am going to cut back or cut out bacon, ham, sausage, pretty much all the good breakfast meats to cut back on sodium.

I don't think I get any bills in the mail anymore. Auto, home and medicare supplement directly debit my checking account and I verify them monthly. TV and internet hit my credit card. Electric bill goes directly to my bank and I pay online, anything else like property taxes, and i go into my bank and set up when to pay. this works well for me. Years ago I got a bill from the electric company with a 15.00 late fee, I never pay bills late and because it was sent directly from my bank, I could prove they had it but didn't process it timely, and they dropped the fee.

We are at 34 F degrees now and going to hit close to 50 then tomorrow will only be 15 degrees, crazy weather is going to make the sap start running.

Good sleep last night!

I'm planning on keeping my eating window short for the next 6 days so as to retain my loss until next weigh in day next Friday. Maybe even add to it. I will push breakfast as far back as I can. My resolve feels strong today.

Ann, I pay my bills online, but I can't do autopay with my bills. If something would happen to me the bills become DHs bills and he would have no clue. For him it would be mail checks only. Some of my creditors just don't understand that and are constantly pushing me to do autopay.

We had one dog who liked to play with the toilet paper roll. I'd go in and find it all unrolled in a pile on the floor. Another dog liked to ravage thru the bathroom waste basket but only during the night. I had to put the waste basket in the tub overnight or that would be all over the floor in the morning. They all have their own personalities.

I have been reading a couple books on Diabetes Control the past few days and see where I need to make changes to correct my lab results. I need to keep carbs more under control and stick to my eating/fasting windows. Also, I really need to get back to exercising, especially after dinner. I really want to do this, but I'm not sure how I'm going to get the discipline to do it.

Today I didn't eat until 12:30, scrambled eggs and 1 slice of dry toast. I ate very slowly, putting my fork down between bites. I have a habit of eating too fast. I don't know how that developed. I think it started as a child when food was scarce so you ate fast to make sure someone else didn't eat it first. That continued on during school and work when lunch breaks were short. I've often heard that eating slowly and chewing each bite is beneficial to satiety. and digestion. I would like to eliminate eating between meals too. I have terrible eating habits and I want to clean them up. The things I've been doing so far just aren't enough. I know this is not going to be easy.

Ann, glad you are back home safe. I loved hearing about yours and DBF fur baby personalities. I enjoy hearing how DS pups play and send her messages. I can alway tell when they want her off the phone when we talk. They definitely have their own personalities. I had a little kitten and puppy I got one Christmas. The pup would share anything with the kitten, but when it came to eating, he would get between the kitten and his bowl and not share. Otherwise, they got along very well.

Carol Sue I pray you step son will be able to recover quickly and get back to his normal life.

Weight was down to 181.2 this morning, but the key is to keep it. I've had potty issues this morning which I figure comes from eating the lentil soup yesterday. Probably shouldn't have eaten as much of it as I did. Plus not sure I should have had a salad with it either. I got up this morning and put spaghetti sauce in the crockpot and even cooked our spaghetti pasta and put them in bowls in fridge. I know they say you should cook the starchy foods and cool it for a while like we do with potato salad, but I have never done that with any food other than potato salad. Thought I would try it and see how it affects the blood sugar. The way I feel right now, I am sure glad I cooked it all this morning because after the potty issues, I have very little energy.

It was 75 degrees yesterday and high today is supposed to be 48. Some around us got rain but we didn't. We must be edging into spring weather because we will have a few warm and then a few cool back and forth days until we get into a norm.

Have a nice Saturday everyone.

I had potty issues again today, too. I think it was from taking Metformin on an empty stomach before eating. I make that mistake sometimes. I hope it goes away. Its good for the scale but not healthy.

I had a grilled chicken salad from a local pizza place. It was terrible. We could have had a nice steak dinner for what they charged for that salad and 2 apps for DH. We are done with that place.

Its cold today. I was freezing all day, under my fleece snuggly in my recliner. Now DH turned the heat up.

Trish, when I eat pasta my blood sugar doesn't spike for hours. Its almost like it isn't going to spike at all but it does, about 4 hours later. DH would not eat it if I refrigerated it. Surprised?? He doesn't even like potato salad refrigerated. He certainly has his idiosyncracies.

DH didn't have any problems with the precooked pasta, but then he is for anything that helps his bs. I have to say it was I seem to have no problem fasting the rest of the day. After dinner, I set in my recliner all covered up with my snuggly and a sweater and slept so well that I actually felt really good when I woke up. Then I had to get busy and do a load of clothes and run the dishwasher. Even did some cleaning in the kitchen. so I've had another good day of eating. I sure hope I can keep that 181.2 lbs, but not sure I will.

Carol Sue Our DH sure have their idiosyncrasies don't they? Makes it kind of difficult to know what to cook sometime. Going out to eat like y'all do wouldn't work for us because DH would only eat at 2 or 3 places and then I would get bored with eating out. Eating out is for special occasions to me. Plus I gain weight when I eat out to much.

I had a busy day yesterday as DBF was supposed to be here in the afternoon. He had a seminar and by the time he got home it was late and he would have been driving in the dark, so he will be down this morning. I got the entire house clean and safe for his dogs, meals planned and groceries bought. I had picked up some nice steaks for yesterday, I will put in freezer, going to be too cold today and tomorrow to grill outside. I am making the keto chicken pot pie for today, we both really like it and it reheats well. I have super bowl food, a cheese and pepperoni tray with no crackers and I picked up broccoli TOTS, low carb, I think I can have 7, I also bought huge portabella tops, I use them to make crustless pizzas,

Scale was down again today, 225.9 , not sure I believe it or that it is sustainable. But I am going to record every day just like I do the food. Got on my bike, I have been pedaling on level 6, I must have hit that when I first was trying to figure out the buttons, isn't hard so I never tried to change it. Fitbit records my sessions and I never am in the cardio zone, always fat burning. I decided to step it up and put it on level 12. Well that was a big change, I ended up moving back and forth from 9-12. I only did 23 minutes but I burned off over 200 calories and got my heart rate into the cardio zone for 9 whole minutes. Now I have something to strive for. I mainly got this to exercise my knees so i was going for longer times and little resistance, now I am pushing myself. I still haven't done much with the weights, I know i need to exercise my whole body. I have the old, old, original Jane Fonda workout DVD. I did it in the 80's took me months before I could do the whole thing and keep up. With my arthritis there are lots of the exercises I can't do, but it does have a lot of FLOOR work, I hate it, but I need it.

Carol, when I was married I was stuck with all the financial stuff, bank accounts, taxes, bills, he would have had no clue had something happened to me. Since I live alone, I have made out my estate plan and I have a list for each of my 2 kids that has the names of my financial institutions, accounts, phone numbers as well as where income is from, where it gets deposited and bills that come. I was an financial analyst for over 10 years and I am kind of a stickler for these things. When my mother passed, my dad couldn't even get access to her accounts because they were in her name only, he had to go through probate. I don't want my kids to have to go through that so I set up a trust, named trustees. No tax issues, and it can't be touched if the kids get divorced or sued. Kids know where the box with all the files is kept.

Patty, I hope your weight stays down, so frustrating when it be-bops all over for no reason. Our dogs are all rescues, Otis was a 2 yr old give up from Vermont, his 7 year old came from Arkansas, and Darci-the trouble maker- is from Alabama. Both of his dogs are registered therapy dogs and he take them to nursing homes and schools-covid permitting. Even at 12 1/2 Otis is too excitable to be calm in any setting so we never tried for that, over the years he has competed and his titles in agility, dock diving, and rally obedience, we still do the rally. He just got a title in the mail for a championship-I don't track his scores so it was a nice surprise.

I need to get busy here, clean up coffee pot and shower. I am making up chicken salad for lunch, and will prep the mushrooms so they can just go into the oven when we are ready.
