Ann, Wonderful news for your DBF as well as your daughter's lab work after having chemo. Prayers continue for both, especially her. I know y'all are relieved.
Hope you are able to get everything done you want to do during your warmer weather. When you mentioned the wind soundin like a freight train. It made me think of how we felt the first time Space X tested one of their engines in the little town southwest of us. It sounds and feel like an earthquake or a bomb going off. The first few times we experienced it, I told DH someone could bomb us and we would just think they were testing their spaceship engines. They can last 5 seconds to 2 or 3 minutes. When so many from CA started moving here, my beautician wrote on FB that she wondered if anyone prepared them for those testings. DS said the first time they ever tested that everybody stood outside in their neighborhood wondering what was going on because she lives close enough that the sky lit up. Then they found out what it was and now she said they seldom notice them. I guess we haven't lived here long enough to not notice.
Carol Sue I am so sorry about you friends 2 yr old son. Will definitely be praying for them. Hope it is treatable. The pastor we had in SC had had leukemia before we ever knew him and his younger brother was the match for whatever the treatment was for him to be healed. Will pay for a miracle for this little boy. Also having been a mother of a burned child and all we went through I will definitely keep the mother and family in my prayers.
I think I am learning that maybe the key to successful fasting is eating enough during my eating window. I didn't eat until we got the KFC. I ate some of the KFC cole slaw and added corn on the cob as the veggie to it. Sam's didn't have my MGSL bread so when we went to Walmart, I got 100% WW bread. I bought FF very thin sliced ham sandwich and since the bread is 70 calories a slice, I used one slice of the Walmart 100% WW bread and a couple slices of the ham and made a fold over sandwich no mayo or mustard. I had that and a small 80 calorie Dannon FF Lite & Fit yogurt for my 2nd meal. Maybe the reason they say 100% WW bread is it makes you feel full. Anyway, it is interesting to me that even with that, I had what I wanted and how it made me feel stuffed. I will not be hungry again tonight. So maybe my problem is not eating foods that actually satisfies. Be interesting to see how the works long term.

I took a Benadryl last night but still woke up around 1:30. I fell back to sleep until 5. I don't want to get up then so I took another one and slept until 9. From now on I think I will just leave it on my nightstand in case I need it like I do the Tylenol. I will take it only if I wake up and can't fall back to sleep. I usually fall asleep right away but only sleep a,couple hours. It only made me slightly groggy. I worry that there will be an emergency and I won't be able to wake up completely.
It was warm yesterday up to 57 degrees. Then it snowed overnight and is freezing again.
I want to highlight my hair but need DH to help me.

Got on the scale begrudgingly and was pleased to see a .6 drop of recycled pounds. That was after 2 cups of coffee and scrambled eggs. I'm really tired of the same few lbs going up and down. I probably know what to do to change that.

I am feeling the full effects of the shingles shot, but not as bad as the first one. Area of the shot on upper arm is very sore and has a large hard lump. I am cold, have muscle aches and a headache. I am on the couch doing little to nothing. Tomorrow I should feel much better.
Scale was up 3.7 lbs this morning, no way possible. I think my issues are a combination of constipation and water retention due to sodium. Today there is no sausage or bacon, I had Fiber One cereal with an Atkins shake for breakfast and a large green salad with just vinegar and oil for lunch. My sodium has been 2200-2800 mc for the last week. Eliminating anything prepared.
I have been putzing around still looking for the hallway pictures, still haven't turned up
Patty, wow on the test flights, I would never have thought about that. When I was a kid we lived in Massachusetts and the military jets would go over and make a sonic boom, always loved that. Sometimes I would look up and see 5 soundless blimps gliding by. I surely would not want to live by an airport or military installation.
I woke up to a temp of 51, DBF is only 70 miles north and he had 26 and a sheet of ice on everything, funny weather. Is cooling down and wind is crazy, power has blipped off and on many times since midnight.
I got sleepy around midnight and told DH that I had to go to bed. So I was in bed an hour early and didn't get up until after 9am. I'm taking only 1/2 a Benadryl at night but not sure I want to even do that except when I want to sleep later.
Weight is up 2 lbs today from the 182.6, but I'm not surprised because I haven't had a bowel movement for past 2 days plus I ate 2 meals later in the day not eating in the mornings. Today that changed because I had brunch and dinner. I have veggies for later if I want them but hope to just have the 2 meals and have been to potty twice. So hopefully in a few days that 2 lbs will be gone.
Haven't decided what to do about perm next week. It is supposed to rain Wednesday with high in 30s and sleet Thursday. My appointment is Wednesday morning but I would hate to get stuck in it if it never warms up.

Trish, I hate to have appointments in the winter because you never know what the weather will be. Hope you can get your perm.
I had 2 meals today. Eggs with tomato slices and a spoonful of corned beef hash. Dinner was fried fish with broccoli and a cup of veggie soup at Bob Evans. 1288 calories and 78 carbs.
They did a CT scan on Stepson which showed nothing. They still don't know what's causing his problems. DH is a basket case.

I turned on the electric blanket, got in my jammies and was in bed shortly after 1, I got up after 4 to feed Otis. Feeling weak, and unstable on my feet. Heating up some chicken pot pie for dinner as I don't have anything else in the house.
Interesting information I came across this morning. Article was talking about the number of calories needed to digest carbs, protein and fats. Here is what it said:"Protein takes the most energy to digest (20-30% of total calories in protein eaten go to digesting it). Next is carbohydrates (5-10%) and then fats (0-3%).
Thus, if you eat 100 calories from protein, your body uses 20-30 of those calories to digest and absorb the protein. You’d be left with a net 70-80 calories. Pure carbohydrate would leave you with a net 90-95 calories, and fat would give you a net 97-100 calories.
Hmm. Maybe “a calorie is a calorie” doesn’t hold up after all."
I am heading to the couch with heated throw to eat dinner, then will be in bed shortly after.
Carol Sue I am so sorry they can't seem to find what is causing your step son's problem. Will keep him in my prayers.
Ann, I am so sorry you are having such a bad reaction to the shingle vaccine. When I got both of them the only problem I had was feverish arm and I remember having kind of a knot around the injection area of the second and my arm was sore. I hope you feel better soon.
I'm still not counting calories, but will if I decide that I need to. I noticed on my doctor's records plan for this year has me doing 10 to 20 minutes of exercise 3xs a week. When I get back into a routine of exercise, I will do much more than that. I will work at getting into some sort of a routine starting next week. I noticed that we go back to longer days in March and it will be some much easier to follow my plan then. I do love the longer days of daytime.

Ann, there's another woman on another forum who is also suffering after her second shingles shot. I'm glad I never got them. I've had shingles and also the old shingles shot.
DH finally talked to his son. There is a word for what's happening to him but I can't look it up because I'm not in on the conversation and DH doesn't know what they are saying. I think DH should just wait and be patient til they find what's wrong. I realize that's his child and he's concerned. But if there's no answer yet he has to wait.
Trish, I can't wait for longer days either, and warmer days. But once the warmer days come I complain that its hot and humid. Then before I know it summer is over and winter is coming again. I wish I could be a snow bird and spend winter somewhere warmer.
I also need to get my exercise routine in place. Its cold in the basement where my exercise room is. Then the heat comes on and if I'm moving I get too hot. I am really good with the excuses, aren't I? Exercising would do so much to solve some of my problems but you have to DO it, not just talk about it.
good morning
went to bed at 7 last night and got up at 6. i took tylenol around 10 and I think it helped. Until this Shingrix shot I never had any reaction to vaccines, in the last 12 months I got my covid and booster, flu shot, and pneumonia23. This one just kicked my butt, I have a large red egg on upper arm and it is warm and hurts. the worst is feeling so tired-a lot like when I had covid- and I had body aches and weakness in joints. But that is just about all behind me now.
Carol, I hope they find the right test to determine what your stepson has, sorry it is so hard for your hubby, I would be the same.
Patty, I hate making winter appointments for the same reason, so when I have to I don't make them before 11 am. then if it had snowed the roads should be clear or I have some time to drive slow or decide to cancel.
Plan for today is tear house apart and find the pictures. I need to go to co op and get some groceries, especially protein for the coming week. I love their chicken breasts, all the icky stuff has been trimmed. I need salad fixings and also have to plan some dinners through Tuesday.
We were in the 50's yesterday and lost about 2/3 of our snow. only 20's today so most of yard is spotty ice.
I need to get on my bike today and keep consistent; mine is in a spare room with a TV so I have no excuse other than laziness. I really need to get on the floor and do core work, my middle is in desperate need of muscle tone. Again, I can come up with a lot of excuses not to.
Hi all, home again, jigg-ety jig. We did not ski at all, the weather was raining, while we were then, then a flash freeze. I had a spa day on Thursday, so that was lovely, (mani-pedi and saunas, hot and cold pools, and forest bathing. (which means walking through a forest, and sitting and relaxing by an outdoor fireplace)
Watched the ski racing at the resort. Dinner out with friends who live in the area. So still a good time. You take the chance when you book about the skiing. We will go up again soon just for the day or will stay with our friends, where we can take the dog as well. DD took good care of him this trip. Since this trip was for our anniversary and we wanted some private romantic time, we didn't want to stay with friends.
Ann, so glad labs and and tests are coming out well for both your and your DBF. I agree with Trish, NSV like waist measurements are just as important as the scale when measuring. Also the heavier we are, the more pounds it takes to lose to change down a size, but when it does, it feels great. When I was going down from 189, it wasn't until I was back to about 175 before I went down a size, but at that point, it felt so good, a few pounds later and those fat clothes just barely stayed up for pants, and I was so happy to ditch them. By 165 the tops were really big as well. When I got the 150s I was down 3 sizes and that feels good. But now that I am back to that weight, the waist measurement is NOT where it was 2 years ago at this weight. I was down to 34 inches, and I am 35 now. My labs are also not quite as good. So I have some work to do yet.
Now 155 after the excesses of the week. That included too many carbs, so while I will eat today, I will do keto and high fat to reset and let go of the carbs. They have really affected my fasting sugars, which was 7.0 this am. I had GF pasta on Wednesday, and some quinoa on Thursday, as well as some sorbet for dessert. Yesterday included some corn chips and salsa.
Carol, I think when my father was ill, we didn't always remember who all to call, we would get caught up in the moment, and if there was no change, we didn't always update people. I am sure DD was just focused, and so tired when there was no crisis and no big change. I am sure that she would call if there was worry. Here, a person has to be vaccinated to go into the hospital, (unless yo are sick) and they are not doing "elective" (aka non-emergency) procedures on those who are not vaccinated. It has become almost impossible for those in hospital not to get covid from the patients and staff with Omicron, so they are protecting those who are not vaccinated. Our hospitalization numbers are finally coming down well now, so they are starting to do elective procedures again for the vaccinated. Those were suspended for a while, since the ICU's were full. I am so glad my friends who needed surgery in December, got in and got done before this current wave really got bad.
Ann< I hope the shingles vaccine doesn't hit hard. I had the opposite happen after my flu shot in the fall, and had a bit of remission of my fatigue symptoms for a couple of months. No bad effects from my third covid shot. There is a new vaccine approved here now, that is not mRNA based. I hope it be available when I next get a booster, as all my shots have been Pfizer and I would like the variation of another brand to up my immunity. I am going to have another blood test for the provincial health study looking at antibody levels. this will be in the next week or two I think. I had one last spring. They are looking to see where the age drop offs are, and which health conditions affect the immune reaction to the vaccines. While they are safe, there is still lots to learn about this virus and how we react to it.

DH has spent time in the hospital. He knows that the rest of the hospital doesn't shut down while they try to find what's wrong with DSS. And they don't do much over the weekend unless it is an emergency. DIL is working a full time job, going to the hospital after work each day, keeping the house running and has a 13 year old son to be concerned about. Plus she is worried about her husband. I feel we will find out when we find out.
Yes, Trish, we are very much alike. We have similar likes and dislikes and the same goals.
Ann, I stopped taking shots. I used to get the flu shot at work. I had a pneumonia shot and a shingles shot years ago. We had a friend who had a severe reaction from the flu shot and that turned us off. Since retiring, neither of us has even had a cold 12+ years. We don't spend much time around groups of people so we aren't as likely to get sick. I know its a risk but we've been safe so far.
I am probably better off that my exercise room is cooler. Once I get moving I'm warm enough. There is a heater vent in the room and I often close it to keep it from getting too hot but I have to remember to open it again so it doesn't get too cold down there.
Its only in the 20s now and going down to the teens overnight. Too cold for me! I hope I don't have to go anywhere. I'm planning on making vegetable soup and cherry pie. Having the oven on will help keep the house warm. We are also buying a hoagie from the fire dept fund raIser. So there will be food in the house and no need to go out. When I got up around 6 am I looked out the front door and not a flake in sight. The warm weather we had melted all the snow. The back is still snow covered because it is shady. I went into the kitchen for coffee and when I came back to the living room I saw out the window that the whole front was covered again. Its just a dusting and seems to have stopped. Please spring, hurry! 29 more days.

I am back to tracking on MFP today. I don't know what my problem was yesterday but I was way out of control. Weight up to 186.4 this morning. Thank God FBG is still good at 97. So today although a high carb day, I am back on track. I also did 35 minutes of exercises. Cooking DH favorite of chipped beef but having mine on brown rice instead of biscuits like he does. I had PB toast and banana for breakfast and will have a Premier Protein shake to close off a 6 hr eating window to get mjyself back to IF. I had to do something because when I'm eating at midnight which I have never been one to have midnight snacks, then I know I'm headed for trouble. Although I don't do low carb, I will work harder at more moderate carb again. And I might have to do a strict low carb to get myself back OP.
Mad Sorry you didn't get to ski, but hope you and DH had a nice anniversary time. Happy belated Anniversary.
Ann, hope you will feel better as the day goes on. My arm had the knot from the second shingle shot too and took a few days for it to go away. The fever part in the arm didn't last all that long if I had any. I seem to remember having a fever in one of my arms but can't remember if that was from the 1st shingle shot or not. We were jabbed so many times last fall it is hard to remember. Hope you find you pics. I am very good at putting things in that "safe" place that is so safe I can't even find it.
Carol Sue, I know how your DH feels too, but I also thought about what all DIL is going through working, taking care of a son and also very concerned about what is going on with her DH. I'm sure when she knows something she will call. It is a shame things are like they are and you can't go to the hospital to know for yourself. Prayers continue.
I cancelled the beauty appointment for Wednesday. I don't think it will be too but since I'm not a regular weekly customer any more, I don't want to call her at the last minute to cancel. So I texted her and told her I would call her next week and plan to have it done next month. I don't plan to go any where next week except maybe go get salad stuff one day when the weather is okay. I can hand cold and wet, but not icy. Neither of us get out in that any more. DH doesn't know how to slow down and has fallen on icy drive way so we sure didn't need to be out in it.
Carol, I think I got your weather this afternoon. Pop up snow squalls, wind and bitter cold again. I think I got about an inch. I thought it was looking springlike but it didn't last long.
Trish, it is so frustrating when the scale bounces up and down. I have come to realize how sensitive I am to sodium, I am shocked at the amount of sodium in things like ice cream, and Atkins shakes, it adds up so fast.
Mad, friends and I booked 2 trips to go cross country skiing. The first time we got freezing rain and everything was pure ice. The next year there just was no snow at all. But we were 6 women who worked together, we went shopping, out to eat, and bought alcohol. Both were fun weekends.
I got my bike done and got groceries, I cooked up a small 3.5 oz cube steak to have with my lunch salad. Trying to get in more protein in.
Pictures have not turned up and I am baffled as where else to look. WIll have to wait until I stumble on them. So many times I have made a mess of a room hauling out a closet to find something and not find it. I give up.
I am shopping for my reward when I hit my 20 lb loss, but the scale has to cooperate a lot more for that to happen. I am booking craft fairs for spring and summer and I need to order glass and backings for picture frames.

Mad, I think we were posting at the same time this morning. Happy Anniversary. I'm glad you had a nice trip even if you didn't get to ski.
Ann, things could get lost easily in our house right now. We really have too much stuff. Things show up all the time that I forgot I had. I hope your pictures show up!
Trish, it is so easy to get off track. If MFP helps you then you should continue doing it. I do it but on days like today its useless. I don't know how to track the piece of hoagie I had or my homemade soup. There are various choices on MFP so I just picked one that was middle of the road. My soups is relatively low with all vegetables but I put stew beef in it this time for protein. Although I don't salt it, it has sodium from the bullion cubes and canned vegetables. My sodium is rarely high so I don't worry about it. I enjoyed the soup on such a cold snowy day. I also took a little nap. I sleep so well in this new chair!
