194 even today. Funny, the last couple days I was feeling "smaller", but the scale wasn't reflecting that. One of those things-- pounds catching up with inches. Sometimes it's the opposite. It's been a busy week, but I was able to get to the store to pick up good food to keep me going. I'll do the same early next week.

Mossy, I noticed you have lost 48 lbs in the past 5 1/2 months... WOW ! Nearly 10 lbs a month avg! WTG, keep it up gal and show us it can be done

Reesa Wisteria, I see you have started out on one tremendous llife changing event... 511 lbs down to (goal) WOW ! Keep at it, it is sure worth it, as you well know already I want to share a little story of mine that may help inspire you.

some years back (like 44 years back) I stopped at a liquor store to purchase a pack on my way to work. As the guy got the cigarettes for me I could not but help noticing his great physique. This guy was maybe 6' 6'', huge wide shoulders, bulging arm muscles (like 'Lil Abner from Al Capps comic strip), wearing a t shirt which showed off the hard chest muscles under it, coming down like a V shape to a small waist, dark hair and tanned face. Like Johnny Cash's song "Big Bad John," "Wide at the shoulders and narrow at the hips, didn't nobody give any lip to Big Bad John."

As the guy handed me the pack I told him, I am not homo by any means, but I couldn't help noticing your fantastic physique. Gotta say I admire ya. He smiles and says, "Well, I was not always this way. I used to be the fat man in a circus." I say, Yer kidding. "Nope, I was" he says "I used to weigh 660 lbs." I asked him why he lost the weight. He says "Well, one day I got tired of being the fat man in the circus and started losing until here I am." Amazing. He may have weighed maybe 200 lbs but for his height and frame it was OK. If I did ask his current weight I do not recall, but he sure had no fat on him. Being as I had no interest in how he did it I cannot share that, as at that time I weighed a trim muscled 160 and my metabolism had not changed so I was still eating maybe 4000 calories a day with no weight problems at all.

At any rate, I have thought of that guy often, to me it was amazing to know of that transformation. I could only imagine what he looked like before but the after left me amazed.

Starting weight 210.4
Goal 201.4

B F R, thanks for the story. Yes, I'm starting on a long journey to get to my goal weight. I'm not even sure if I can get to that weight without skin surgery as I'll probably have a lot of loose skin from the weight loss.

I'm not following a specific diet since I want to be able to keep the weight off once it's gone. I've been slowly changing how I eat so that once I hit my goal I'll be able to maintain my weight. Thankfully, my family is also working on losing or maintaining weight loss so I have a lot of support in this weight loss journey.

Reesa, to me, that possible skin problem would be the least of my worries. The guy I was telling of had firm taut healthy skin and back then there was no skin surgerys and even if there were I am sure he would not have been able to afford it as health insurence was not something many employers had for employees, and especially for low paid people working in such as a liquor store. At that time his pay was probably around $2.50 per hour. Though doctors cost just a fraction of what they do now, it would have been a prohibitive amount as plastic surgery was still in it's infancy.

Skin can and does shrink as needed for most people. If you are under 50 most of it should shrink along with you, though at times it may be kinda... well. Anyway, use skin cream to make it moist and supple, here is hoping you do not have that problem. Please don't worry about it until the time comes

I am glad to hear all of your family is trying to resolve weight problems. Last year in one of my clients homes where I was doing business, both parents very overweight... Obese. They had two young girls maybe around 11 years old which were also both very overweight. They were playing outside when I arrived and I noticed they were eating something while playing. Then they came in after a while to where we were sitting at the counter doing business, got out a bag of cookies and sat there continuing to eat cookies, without having to ask the parents who were oblivious to them though they were both noisy. They polished off the entire bag of cookies and got something else out to eat, forget what it was, chips or something and continued eating. The parents were still oblivious to them. Me, I kept my mouth shut but I sure wanted to say something, to me that was an act of cruelty towards children allowing them to get into snack food and eat all they wanted even though they were both already very fat. I finished my business and left, they were still eating.

One of my un-favorite stories.

Good luck once again with your weight loss, I really want to see you succeed.
