Kelijpa, congrats on the Big Daddy Whoosh! I'm thinking a 3-mile hike in snowshoes had a lot to do with it! Wow! I'd be lucky to do 3 miles in tennis shoes in the summer on a smooth walking track, lol! Great job!

Ajlee, I know it's frustrating, but the big picture is all that matters. You'll get there!

Joy, yay on the drop and then today's maintenance!

BFR, don't step off your soapbox for too long! We all learn from your knowledge and that's a good thing!

183, yay! Enjoy your day!

Susan, you are doing great just by keeping up your posts and keeping yourself accountable!

Sum, still hanging out in the 140's, that's good!

Turtle, another drop! Way to go!

NightAngel, Hang in there! I'm sure you'll have a nice drop once the water starts giving way! :

StilettoLife, wow! That's a big drop! Well into a new decade! Even if you put some water weight back on, I'd be surprised if it went all the way back up! I do hope you start feeling better soon!

Shr1nk1ngme, I had to laugh at the pet rat. My DD has a chinchilla! I don't think we even have any exotic animal vets around here!

Watchoutforthatcar, congrats on 2.6 lbs gone!

Hi Cincorn, I was wondering where you were! Don't feel bad about the last 10 days of December. Those were challenging for everybody! I'm glad you're back on plan now!

Boating, be careful in these dangerous temps! You ought to see us all huddled in here. My children are grown and moved out, but we live in a big historical home and we have shut off rooms to conserve heat, so I have 3 dogs (and not little dogs, 3 big giant mastiffs) and 3 spoiled cats (who rule the roost) all in very close proximity trying to stay warm with my DH and me, lol!

jacqui, I went to college in Florida, meet this guy from Oregon - fell in love, visited Oregon and then moved to Oregon. No more family in Ohio, but the next hs reunion may get me back to Ohio.

My Jan goal is to lose 4 & no p.m. snacking. Progress to date:
1/1 - 158 & no p.m. snacking
1/4 - 157 & continued success with no p.m. snacking.
1/6 - 156 & continued success with no p.m. snacking.

I planned my mid day snack carefully yesterday to try to avoid being over hungry by dinner time - - - & it worked. I had 1/8 cup kernels popped w/butter and peeled a small grapefruit and ate it section by section. I am not thinking about food all the time and not snacking all day ----a great success and it it showing on the scale.

Make it a great day

Hey everyone! Hope y'all had a great weekend!!

I weighed in this morning and wasn't really expecting much as my TOM decided to arrive too so I'm down half a pound since Wednesday 1st - it's ok but it's not as much as I would have liked. I've been good this week and I have kept up with the exercising every day, so I'm sure it's just water retention and I shouldn't get too hung up on it.

Well done all of you weighing and posting your daily weights!

So many posts!! Too many to reply to everyone but thank you to everyone who replied to me, so thx Jaqui, pnkrckpixikat and NightAngel26 and anyone else who said well done!

All the food mentions, lasagna, garlic bread, brazilian steak....mmmmmmm!!!

Still going with the exercising every day, it's great being in two challenges which will hopefully feed off each other - less weight equals easier to exercise and exercise should lead to less weight!!

Well, I'm down a few pounds already ... BUT I had the stomach flu for several days. I'm sure a lot of that was water weight that will come back now that I'm well, but I think I can probably claim a pound or so as my own.

Happy New Year everyone! I'm a late arrival this month... Just got back from holidays and getting back in the groove. Had a spectacular fall from
grace and weighed in today 9lb heavier than I was in December.

With that in mind, I've set some goals for 2014 which include losing weight but also then a maintenance challenge. For Jan, given I'm a week behind, I'm aiming to drop an ambitious four pounds.

Start Weight - 141
Goal Weight - 136

Jan 6 - 141

It's good to be back and looking forward to catching up on what I've missed over the next few days. xx

Ooh, also would love to hear other people's goals for 2014, looking to be inspired. Considering a half marathon in march?!! Do I dare it?

Hey did you all read that story on MSNBC.com about a science teacher who says he lost 37 pounds in 3 months eating at mcdonalds? He said he ate 2000 calories a day, and walked 45 minutes a day.
3 months, say that's 90 days, which is 12.86 weeks, which is a loss of 2.87 pounds a week! Do you all think it is possible to lose 2.87 pounds a week on 2000 calories a day, and walking 45 minutes a day? It just sounds improbable to me. Doesn't sound right.

Jacqui!

Darius I heard some of that story, they said the students picked the food for him, it does sound improbable to me, it certainly isn't going to get me eating at McD's, we do eat there on occasion, I find it the hardest fast food place to find something healthy-ish to eat.

Minneey my goal for 2014 is to get to my goal weight, 143, then to maintain through the year.

Just watched a clip on the news about super losers or super dieters, i already forgot the title, lol, anyway, they said if you can keep the weight off for two years you have a great chance of keeping it off long term. So I kept some off so far for a year, so I'm hopeful I'll be able to maintain after getting it off this time.

Great job everyone

If I don't, my best wishes to everyone this week! You can do it and I hope to read lots of good news whenever I catch up!

Jacqui_D well done on the new low! You rock!

darius I heard about that story, too.I wonder if it's retelling of the twinkie-diet? http://edition.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/1...iet.professor/ If you go for calories in vs. calories out, it probably makes you lose weight.

Minneey good to see you!

Great to read everybody is doing well so far! Already one week into the new year -- we're awesome!
Have a great day.

I am working really hard and eating well (1200 cals or so), mathematically I should have lost another 2 pounds, but I am stuck at 149.x/150.x range; ugh. Hate my body!! I wish she co-operated. She really asks for my patience and resists all the way what comes to my weight loss; but I'll show her who's the boss
