Welcome to all the newbies!! This thread is great-really picks me up when I'm feeling low or flat or fed up. I've been away a bit this last week and noticed I'm more off plan when I don't post.

After my 4llb weight gain over the weekend, I am going over to the inlaws for dinner tomorrow night and taking a salad. Hope it doesn't get me too many raised eyebrows. And for desert I am avoiding cake by taking myself some nuts and raisins (pre packed)! Wish me luck!!

Will write more personals soon. Thanks to everyone for the support, keeping the goal in sight - may write it on my fridge in the morning!

Goal weight 132

NightAngel26 hey, welcome to the challenge! What are you studying in school? in response to Atkins - Robert Atkins died from complications from a head trauma sustained slipping on ice. He did have a heart attack in 2002 but it was the result of an infection and not due to diet. Unfortunately the media perpetuates the rumor he died from his own diet because his autopsy report notes history of heart conditions which were from before he created his diet. Many studies have actually shown heart disease (among others) get better when following the diet properly. I feel you on the carbs cravings though, getting off them is soooooo difficult the first couple weeks, it's like a straight up addiction for me lol don't worry about not having a set plan yet, sometimes baby steps works best

kelijpa - I hope your husband feels well soon! sounds like you made a great choice with the hospital food. I completely feel you on the lack of flexability. keep us updated how those moves work for you!

Turtle!!! you are going the wrong way!! what gives?!?!

Minneey sounds like a great plan!!! stay strong! and if anyone eyes you funny well screw them, you need to do what is best for you, not what looks right to them

yesterday's weigh-in: 78,0kg (172lbs)
yesterday's calories: 2200
yesterday's exercise: --
today's weigh-in: 77,6kg (171lbs)
change: -0,4kg (-1lbs)

Good morning

my field trip was nice - the education part was good. The Christmas fair was nice, too. I chose food that I considered the "smart choice", but logging the calories at home I was still like: ohoh. Well, considering I could have done a lot worse, I'm still happy Also, I dropped some of the weight! I will go for a run after my library session today.

NightAngel26 crossfit is a fancy name for functional fitness A class consists of a warm-up, a 'skill' part where they teach you the Olympic lifts and a 'workout of the day', which is a circuit of different strength and cardio exercises.
I really quite enjoy it, because I usually never have the opportunity to work with weights, the group is really small and it's almost like personal training (also, everybody is really nice )

pnkrckpixikat yeah, I figured the weight was from being sore from exercise. I'm glad it's leaving again

Thursday already! Good luck sticking to your plan today, and make it a great one!!

Default Good morning

pnkrck-good job holding the line! About Atkins, that's very interesting...everything I've seen touts him as one of the dietitians that died from their own diet...I'll have to check that out... it does seem a successful okan and certainly carbs matter in diets...I've tried many, many diets and plans and seen a lot of success w low/no carb diets at least scale-wise.

therecoveringfatchic-looks like you're doing well...will have to check out your blog, looks like it's interesting....good luck, see you around!

kelijpa- thanks for the kind words....some days I'm on it, some days I'm a shadow...lol. Stretching can be great, especially leg and thigh if you want a little more range of motion... I used to do it and really had less aches when doing cardio and could do more reps. Prevention is a neat mag, and not overly expensive as magazines go.... I think anyone with the mind power to overcome set thinking is amazing it's so hard to do. It's been fun responding to this post.... also mkaes me want to dig out my fitness mags.... I've been tossing them in a box during my pregnancy and it's probably time to revisit. Hope you have a good day!

turtle11: good job dropping, everything counts!

minneey: it sure is easy to get off track huh? I have trouble too when away... though I can't decide if I'm worse when I'm not on here or worse and then do not come on because of it...might depend on the day. Here, now you can sparkle! also for packing and planning that tends to help a lot!

lyn77- Welcome! late is better than never... join us and good morning!

envelope- hey, yeah down is right? Did I ask you your plan already?

183stgb- wonderful, you've lost weight.... always good...your class sounds cozy and encouraging! Kudos on choosing the best options while out, that can be hard...

Default check in....

for the record... no, I am not a morning person... but my baby is for now

now, this is crazy but I've really lost weight suddenly...like whoosh! must be fluid.... but still pretty cool! I've done nothing interesting save skipping breakfast, small lunch and drooling over ice cream in my freezer... perhaps drooling burns calories?!? lol

oh wait ... yep did exercise sorta...

I was just told today that I will be laid off in January. I'm trying to negotiate a severance package now. Someone please wish me luck and add me to your prayer list if you can. I worked there for over 12 years.

Oh, Darius, that's a terrible feeling, I know. Especially at this time of the year.
I will definitely add you to my prayer list. It won't make you feel any better now, but in my experience these events have ALWAYS led to better things. Chin up!

Today is my Friday. Hubby and I took off tomorrow to go out with friends for our annual pre-Christmas day of fun. It's going to be tough staying close to on track tomorrow, but I'm going to really try.

Darius - prayers said. I hope all works out for you with your severance package. Hang in there!

I wish I had time this morning to leave everyone a note, but I am very short on time. There is sleet falling here, and it's going to take me a longer time to get to work. I am wishing you all a great day/night!

lyn welcome!! better late than never right

183 Im glad it is going down again! And good for you for making the smart choices at the fair, if you start feeling bad about how you did look up some of the counts for the things you passed up and that may help you feel proud of how well you did. Good Job!

NightAngel26 if you are interested in looking into the science of it I recommend "Why We Get Fat And What To Do About It" by Gary Taubes he looks at different studies and explains everything really clearly. Congrats on the drop! Staring at the ice cream drooling has got to burn calories, the walk over, pulling the door open, the chill from the freezer makes your body work to sustain your temp. and will power to still say no has GOT to burn some right? lol

darius omg how horrible I will keep you in my thoughts

sum slowly but surely it is coming down, KEEP IT UP!

boatingmommy fun! a three day weekend! I'm sure you will do great! In the weight loss support forum (i think!) is a parties thread where you can report on what you are going to and after how you did, go fill that out on what you plan to do so you know that after you have to report in, might help keep you on track

I am continuing to do well on low carb, I think my saving grace is sugar free syrups for my coffee, if i start craving sweets I just pour some syrup in my coffee and it is all good
