  • Yay! I'm down to 174 this morning! Looking at my ticker, that matches the 37 lbs I lost 4 years ago, only this time around, it was a much more enjoyable journey and there's no chance of my falling off the wagon as I did back then! Oh! And I just noticed I'm only 10 lbs away from a "normal" BMI!!!

Amanda, great job on the 1.6 lbs! And it is fantastic that you are able to face the holiday season with such a healthy attitude and in moderation!

183, your cookie-making experience with your Muslim friend was so cute! Let us know how it goes with your visitor tonight! Even if she's aware you've lost weight, I bet she's going to be so surprised! Have a great time at the Christmas Fair!

SparklyBunny, I think because you now have a healthy attitude toward your body and don't get upset about the daily water weight fluctuations, you'll find the numbers don't have that much power over you now. I am still obsessed with the scale. I have to weigh everyday, but it's just because I'm too curious not to. If the numbers don't do exactly what I want, it no longer bothers me because I know I'm on plan, and no matter how many times I hold water weight during the week and no matter if I hit a set point for 4 weeks, I'm still on plan and I'm losing weight, and that's success! If I don't lose the 6 lbs I have for a goal this month, it's no big deal. I'll still be at least 3 lbs lighter, and I've had all this wonderful support on this thread in losing those 3 lbs, so you can bet I'll be joining the challenge again next month, lol! You're going to be fine! I've read quite a few of your posts around the forum, and you have a really good attitude and smart advice for people. I just really don't think the numbers have that kind of power over you anymore, and I have no doubt you are going to get through this challenge (meeting goal or not) with flying colors!

Sum, yay! On your way back down!

Kelijpa, yum! Hope you enjoyed your treats! And now back to on plan!

Looks like lots of great progress being made! I have shoveling snow on my agenda today -- great exercise!
  • Thanks for all the encouragement!!

My goal is to lose 8lbs in the month of December and start 2014 in the 150's!!!

    Heading in the right direction!!!!

Have a great Saturday - stay warm!!!

    Samm
  • Thanks Jacqui D
Im hoping I can do it! You are doing great! very motivating to see your results
Good Luck to all during this time of year
  • Jacqui you are the girl on fire congratulations on meeting and approaching some great milestones. And, yes ma'am back on plan today

Lyn it was a nice treat and nice also because it was a couple cookies and a couple cups of hot chocolate and that was it, not a dozen cookies, or a bunch of other stuff after because the floodgate was opened, I'm with you on moderation. In fact I'm going to put my Mark Twain quote back I my siggy to remind me!

SparklyBunny you seem to have a healthy mindset, I have to keep an eye on myself, too, making sure I don't get obsessive about things, it's so easy to go down the rabbit hole, it's good to check once in awhile to make sure my focus isn't becoming an unhealthy habit of its own.

GardenerJoy we were out shoveling and blowing snow around for awhile today, it burns some cals for sure! Nice to be in the warm house now

    You're doing great Samm

    Best to all

  • Yay, I weigh 175.5 today! I'm so glad I didn't pop back up to 177 after cheat day! I really am expecting TOM sometime soon though, so I don't know how I'll do this week, but I'd like to lose this water weight by Friday because I'll be switching Saturday's cheat day to Friday. I have a get-together with friends on Friday, plus taking my cheat day early will give me an extra day to get back down before Christmas Day!

Kelijpa, lol! Okay, maybe I can be a little bossy, haha! I have no defense. I'm a retired high school teacher so I'm used to getting people back on task. But if it helps any, I have the very best at heart for anyone I care enough to boss!

Lyn, my daughter didn't give up dairy either when she went on this diet. She just consumed it in moderation. Dairy is actually low carb, but its protein amino acids spike insulin, which is why it's not allowed on the Slow Carb Diet. However, there is evidence that dairy helps against insulin resistance, so even I've been considering adding yogurt to my plan. Congrats on getting the Fitbit Force!!!

Joy, looking good, despite that itsy bit up! :

Samm, yay on the drop! Keep going!

Marymo, you can do it! Just set your mind to it!

Stilettolife, wow! Look at your side-by-side avatar pic! You look fantastic!

183, no worries, it will fall back off as long as you're on plan! I hope you had a great time!

Sum, it appears 155 is a set point for you. They can be tough to get past and stay past, but you can do it!

Turtle, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your month-end whoosh fairy visit!
  • Going to post first, then catch up on what I missed over the weekend. Last time I did it the other way around I forgot to post !!

So, another off plan weekend (help Jacqui!!) - need to drop four pounds this week which won't happen but if I get to Friday on 134 I'll be chuffed. My brother's wedding (which has been the big goal) is on Saturday and I can't believe it's only a week away! Bring it on :-)
