My BF just came home and we talked. He is the same height as you but still heavier. I showed him your pics (I hope that is ok) and he said screw the BMI. Well, actually he said the BMI is like global warming in Canada.

You look good Reso!

Things will shift around for awhile after weight loss too. I lost weight really fast in some areas and not in others and then I started rearranging a bit in maintenance. Things evened out. Give your body time to adjust to the weightloss and focus on the muscles.

Sorry for the late check-in with my pledge, Sarge!

So, I went to bed right after I got home, and when I woke up I weighed... and I am EXACTLY the same weight I was when I left last Saturday. Yay for gaining nothing on my trip!! I would have loved a small loss, and was probably ahead on Thursday, but on Friday I just kind of let myself enjoy the conference dinner and going out with my colleagues. We started drinking at the dinner around 8pm, then continued on to a bar/club where I danced my *ss off until it closed at 5am, then we went out for breakfast and staggered back into the hotel around 8am, lol. I never would have danced like that eight months ago... I would have been way too self-conscious, and I wouldn't have had the energy anyway. I swear I feel like a different person than I used to; I feel like I don't stick out anymore, I just blend in. Anyway, I had a GREAT time on my trip - but I am happy to be home and am super ready to get back to couting calories and the GYM later today.

I will catch up on everything here today, but after just seeing the last page - Resolute, you look amazing!!!!

Hope everyone had a great week, and I look forward to contributing to the group's losses and mileage again this week.

Your pics look great, Reso. You don't look too skinny, and you definitely don't look fat. I'm betting you have a ton more energy than you used to have and can do a lot more stuff than you used to do.

re: the BMI thing, BMI is not a good measure of fitness. There are flabby, out of shape people at a "healthy BMI" and muscular ones who are in great shape but "overweight" on the BMI scale.

Sarge, can I pledge 2 pounds for the Sunday after this one? If it's too much to keep track of, don't sweat it. It just occurred to me that not only would I miss the weekend tally this week, I wouldn't have a chance to pledge for the following week. That's two weeks not on the books.

Reso - Did you ever think as a 400 lb man you'd be one day thinking "Do I look too skinny?" Your results are INCREDIBLE!! You look amazing =)

Good Morning Platoon.
Hopefully most of you are enjoying an extra day off.
I know I am! Whooo.

Reso: You look great, healthy and fit! Not skinny.

Envelope: I'm glad there was no emergency surgery going on! I hope you can figure out the pain.

Kuri: I'm with Reso about your weight loss. You still had a loss so you are doing the right things. Getting down closer to goal, those last pounds will fight you. I wouldn't change anything drastically. Just tweak it here and there. Eat a little cleaner. Give a little more intensity to a work out. Try out Ennay suggestion about heavier weights, less reps.

Jeanetty: CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are doing so awesome. Definitely happy dance time.

JoyFulVeg: Now that's a heck of a long run! I'm glad you made it out of it! Heat is a huge factor when running, especially when you are not use to it. I am so jealous of your Oregon weather you guys have! I live down in the South, so heat is quite normal. But you have got to be hydrated for it. Know you limits and be prepared.

Chickadee: That is so great you have all that energy now! The trip sounded amazing!! Great job maintaining, that's impressive!

Great job with the losses this week Platoon! Keep it coming for the next week!

My Race Report
I loved it!
My alarm went off at 3:30 AM! That's right folks, runners are nuts.
Oatmeal (my long run breakfast of choice), brushed my teeth (I totally get extra points for this one), got dressed and was out the door.
Got there at O'dark hundred. Waited around in the port-a-potty line once or twice.
Shuffled over to the start with the others and off we went into the darkness.

5am-start time (Since MS is a HOT state, they do that on purpose to beat the heat). It was a small race--probably not quite 1,000 people (which is small for half/full marathon races). But I loved that. It was a dark, rural route. Very peaceful. Some rolling hills thrown in. Found my pace. It started to drizzle from all that stuff Tropical Storm Lee was throwing around. But it felt great. It felt like Fall!! Heard some roosters crowing. Smelt some farm smells. Good stuff.

As I passed mile 10, the leaders of the full marathon were coming back (the course was one loop-the marathoners ran it forward then back). They were on their mile 16. My theory is, if I want to be a hardcore marathoner looking for a sub 3 hrs I have to do it shirtless. LOL. They were all shirtless, had to cut down on wind resistance.

Anyhoo, felt great coming in. 14.2 miles in 2:29:22. Around a 10:30 pace. Not to shabby. I use to have a faster pace, but I know I haven't focused on speed in forever so I'm happy.

I haven't seen the race pictures yet....they are not up but here's the shirt and hardware:

Also, Sarge promises to update the side challenges later... I've got to go back and read the posts, add people to black ops, first to 20, first to 100 and all that....

So much win to sort thru!!!!

Have a great day!

**** i cant even remember if I said yes to black ops (yes, I am in) and I'm too lazy to read back. You rock SARGE!!!!

Great job Chesh! I have heard so many great things about Tupelo. Definitely on my dream list. I MUCH prefer the small marathons. My very favorite has about 225 runners.

Reso - You look amazing!! You definitely look healthy and fit! I've added fish oil into my daily supplements for a couple of reasons, one of them being that I've heard it can be very beneficial for skin tightening. Maybe something else to look into if you're not using it already?

Chesh - That race sounds awesome! Great time and great looking gear!

Sarge - I'm definitely in for Black Ops!

My 10K is 3 weeks from yesterday. I definitely have to step up my compressed training schedule this week in preparation (I started running again only 4.5 weeks before race day, basically going from couch to 10K in 4 weeks). Looking forward to the increased mileage! I can't wait to run this race. I know I'm not going to get the result that I would have been shooting for before surgery, but I also know that to run it in my revised goal pace only 11 weeks after my surgery will be a tremendous accomplishment.

So proud of the platoon this week - great results and progress!!
