Its been a tough week but Im down 2 pounds. Its TOM and my food hasnt been 100% like it was at the beginning...probably more so because it was my bday and I had a few slips. Ive been working out really hard though so it payed off. Maybe next week I'll have a WHOOSH after TOM goes away! =)

Oooh I just saw this thread.... I had worked out a few days ago that a reasonable goal date for 145 would be right around Valentine's Day (I have my last 14 pounds to lose and it's going slooow lol) so I guess this challenge would be perfect for me to keep me motivated all the way to goal!

I'm Brand New - I Might Have Found My New Home
Hi ladies, my name is Beverly. This is my first day here. I found the site when I did a search for "is almond milk fattening." I feel I need some support. I've always been self-motivated, but it's been hard the past few years and I've gained weigh more (pun intended) then I ever thought I would. I just sent my son off to college. I'm a single mom and now it's me-time.
I somehow gained 50 lbs over the years, but the past 2-3 put me where I never thought I would be. I've joined an amazing gym in my area. I've been steadily working out since Oct 1. Did have to take a break when I went to visit my son but got right back into it. I've done many diets that have worked--Atkins works but I always ended up gaining more weight. 6 week body makeover by Michael Thurmond is the best for me by far. My brother is here, and he loves to cook (just like I do) so it's been hard with the food because he's skinny and can eat anything. But maybe it's just time for a challenge. I like that. It motivates me. Valentines Day, and that is just 3 days before my birthday! That would be the perfect birthday present to myself, a new me. I say yeah, I'm ready. I"m really ready to get this weight off of me and get back into my single digit dresses again. Right now I'm wearing 12 on top 14 on the bottom. I'm 199 lbs (i don't usually weigh myself), I just go in my closet and try on clothes. My goal is 138 lbs. I'm not sure if that's going to be literal because I have muscle but whether or not it is, that's the weight I'd like to get back to or a size 8, whichever comes first.:) I don't know if I can do that by Valentine's, but I will set a goal for that after I think about that for a little bit. Question! Where do you get the little goal bar from that shows the starting point. Nice to meet all the ladies in the challenge. |
Gah, I am back up to 231, so that's like +2. Oh well, next week will be better :)

Thanks Tibouchina. Those early words of support gave me just the juice I needed this morning to get myself motivated and off to the gym. It's the food now I've got to conquer.
For me, I think a reasonable amount for the challenge for me is 25lbs. That is major. The food thing is going to be my menace. So here it is: 10/20/09~ 199 (the insurance company forced me to be weighed) 10/27/09~ 195 (didn't weigh myself, I look like I lost 5 lbs) but a few inches 11/03/09~ 195 (when I look like I lost 10 lbs I'll start getting on the scale again. 11/10/09~ 11/17/09~ 11/24/09~ 12/01/09~ 12/08/09~ 12/15/09~ 12/22/09~ 12/29/09~ 01/05/10~ 01/12/10~ 01/19/10~ 01/26/10~ 02/02/10~ 02/09/10~ 02/14/10~ I better be in the 170's by this date. Geez, 36 more to go!!! OMG how did this happen. Off to the gym. I'd ask for food suggestions but, I know what works, I just have to work it and stick to it. Can somebody come here and kick my brother out. |

I just joined this community today and was looking around on the message boards to get involved in something that sounds equal parts challenging and rewarding. Bingo! Here it is! What a great idea. :carrot: So far I've set specific goals for exercise and eating well. I don't exactly have a goal weight in mind, but I will weigh in weekly and aim to lose an average of 1 lb per week. If I meet my weekly exercise and nutritional goals, I'll write "yes," or maybe, "YESSSSSS!!!" if it felt like a special victory. If I slip up and don't meet a weekly goal, I'll write "no," reflect a little on what got in the way and what I could do differently next time. EXERCISE: At least 5 sessions per week of cardio that also challenges my muscles. NUTRITION: At least 5 full days of enjoying 6 small, balanced meals throughout the day. WEIGHT: From a starting point of 160, lose an average of 1 lb per week.
