Hey you guys. Another LOOOONG and stressful day at work. I heard that you hold onto fat when you're stressed. I hope this isn't so. I'm trying not to weigh myself every day but it's hard. I have a class from 8-12 tomorrow and then will go to the gym. So. at least I don't have to work all day tomorrow. It should be a good day. I should be able to get a lot of time in at the gym... at least that's the plan. Oh yeah.. I'm looking at my ticker.. I was too overzealous I think with what I planned to lose. I'll be happy if I lose 5lbs a month. That would put me at 188-190 by the time my hubby leaves. That would be awesome.
Lindy-Look at you! You're all tan.. and going to be blonde! You are going to get a lot of attention. Well.. in cincinnati you definitely would. I see another pound lost too! You go girl!
Today I had: Kashi protein bar (190 calories); grilled chicken hoagy (500 calories) 3 meatballs (150 calories); and a lot of diet dr.pepper (i know i know. It's my one weakness.. eventually I will stop. But I can't right now)
I love reading everyone's posts. Everyone on here deserves the best. And thanks for the birthday wishes! I didn't do much in my efforts to not consume bad food or alcohol. Plus, I have a horrendous week at work coming up and have been anally preparing for it. Besides, after 35, well there is just no need to celebrate. But - it sure was a great excuse to just start thinking that 37 needs to be THE YEAR. After all, I will be doing my dream event and I want to do it with a very fit bod! I don't want to look back at those pictures after the Olympics and think - boy was I fat!
I'm sorry I haven't written...I have been feverishly working on my blog. I used to write in a journal and I still do to some extent, but going to write a lot on there. I figure it helps me be accountable and might help motivate someone else from time to time! Neesy - I loved this and it made it do it!
Well I am proud to announce that I am on the wagon and it's going to be a good ride! Something just clicked in my brain yesterday. I don't think I have ever felt this determined. I went and tried on dresses today and I saw that I do have a great body in there and I am going to work at getting it going again! I have listed all my goals in my blog and my daily eating/gym plans. I feel awesome (even with a nagging pain in my back and STILL waiting TOM - who is super late) - but I have no worries about being pregnant - if that was the case I would definitely be the next virgin mary!
I found some pics of me at about 190 a few years ago after I went down from 250. I remember at the time thinking I was still so fat. It's amazing how your perspective works. I am going to look at them as well as my not so desirable pic to keep on motivating me. I was pretty muscular and I love that. I make Jessica Biel look like Kate Hudon lol. I have attached them to share! Visit my blog if you like. It doesn't look like much but I am working on making it look hot
I just wanted to say again that you ladies are so great. I read your posts and how supportive you are of each other and it's really admirable. I hope to be more supportive too as I get better at this...I share when I can. I get more out of it right now than I put in and I am going to work harder at changing that!
However, I have some great recipes to share...that I got from my nutritionist. Makes you feel like you are cheating but not at all!
1. Mini Pizzas
Plain Rice Cake - 35 calories
2 oz of baked chx breast - 96 calories
Chopped up onion (Green and white) - 15 calories
Two pieces of fat free Diamond Mozz Cheest - 75 calories
Put in microwave and melt and then top with salsa - about 15 calories. I also sprinkle Mrs Dash on it...so yummy!
Pancakes (OK THESE ARE MY FAV) 10 pancakes - 1680 calories
16 egg whites (2 small cartons or 21/2 cups)
500 ml of skim cottage cheese
3 1/2 cups of dry oatmeal
1/2 cup of Splenda
Put into a blender or food processor and coat with pan with non-stick spray. Use 1/2 cup per pancake
Freeze em - they are amazing - top with sugar free syrup - I also put berries or bananas in with them and they are great.
Fat Free Gravy (I love poutine and this is a good alternative)
2 cups of fat-free chicken broth
2 tnsp cornstarch
2 tbsp cold water
fat free chicken cube
Heat to boiling, combine cornstarch with cold water in a seperate bowl and combine. 10 servings for 50 calories each. I use this on cut up potatoes and pieces of fat free Black Diamond cheese slices.
I got lots more to share and will along the way Including nachoes (ok that one I can't wait - Crispix Cereal, add on slices of Black Diamond Fat free cheese and top with salsa - put in microwave and viola nachoes (add in veggies too. Crispix is 100 calories per cup as opposed to real nacho chips which can be up to 300 calories for a handful!!!
Well, thought I didnt have to work today, but right when I was about to go work in the yard the boys mom called and asked if I could go over and watch them 2 or 3 hours. So I didnt get to rake, maybe tomorrow. I did go for a 3 mile walk and did 30ds tonight. Plus lugging a 2 year old around. He loves to spin so I get a workout and make myself dizzy but it keeps him entertained. I am having a hard time drinking a lot of water. I am not a big drinker, it could take me a week to drink a 20 oz coke(I dont drink coke, but its an example). I just really need to focus on it and have a bottle with me at all times. I made a roast with carrots tonight, it was yummy and made a soup with the leftovers and froze it so I can just pull it out when I want something quick. I have some chicken in the fridge I need to cook, maybe tomorrow, I will make a big grilled chicken salad. Ok, dont want to make myself hungry, its 1:30 in the morning, gonna sleep now.
Stacie - you are so funny with your post about the "virgin mary", lol, I was laughing out loud. I am so happy to read that you are back on the wagon, you definately seemed really determined and I am VERY proud of you. Thanks for the recipes!
Neesy - I think you and I are in the same boat. We started out strong with setting realistic goals and as we hit our plateaus and are ready to be past them, we started to set unrealistic goals. Lets just remember, slow and steady wins the race. Trust me, I have to keep telling myself that every day. I am trying so hard to be at 180 by June 14th for my trip to Connecticut but I really just need to get over that. If it happens, it happens, if it doesnt, it doesnt. I mean seriously - 17 pounds in 5 weeks, thats about 3 lbs a week, 185 is more realistic. Anyway, I am really proud that you have beefed up your exercise routine. Remember, exercise relieves stress so if it is true that stress plays a factor in your weight, then you will soon relieve that. Also, I did do the sauna, I originally was doing it to tilt the scale more in my favor but I actually found it EXTREMELY relaxing, if you have a sauna at your gym and can handle the heat, I highly recommend it. It relieved all the soreness from my weight lifting and made me sooooo relaxed. I just put on my i-pod, laid down on the bench and shut my eyes. I timed 5 songs in my head (for about 16 minutes) and then got out and took a cold shower. By the way - this did NOT help tilt the scale but it was well worth it and I am going to try and do it every Saturday morning from now on.
Ok, so my calorie cycling starts today and from what I read, its not exactly far fetched from what I am currently doing. Today is 1576 calories and I am already at 550. I indulged a little bit, but I just woke up craving a Pepsi today. So, that being said, here is my calorie consumption for today"
English muffin with "I cant believe its not butter" - 120 calories
Raisin Bran Cereal (1 cup) with Skim milk (1 cup) - 190+90 calories
Pepsi - 150 calories
= 550 calories
I have 2 cups of pineapple for my mid-morning snack, which is 150 calories
Nicole - It's so funny that you decided to do the calorie cycling because my new Jillian book says the same thing! And you know Jillian is never wrong! LOL! I'm planning on doing the same, I just need to get a little more settled into my 'new' daily routine so I can sit down and plan the meals accordingly. According to Jillian's formula, I should eat 1500 calories a day to maintain - wait, that might be to lose 1lb a week. I will have to re-read that part to be sure. Then if I add more exercise, I will lose more or I can up my calories. Let us know how that's goes for you. Good luck!
Burgundy - 3 miles AND 30DS. Wow, that is awesome! I'm gonna have to step my game to keep up with you.
Staccie - Good to see you back and at it. Lookin' good at 190! Wow, the thought of 190 is...is....oh my gosh, I can't even imagine myself...LOL! But I will see it eventually.
Hey Kelly - can I ask, based on my current weight and height, what does it say my consumption should be in your book? I hate to put you out but Id be interested to know if it matches with the website that calculated my current calorie cycle program. Thanks!
Ok, update on my food intake - that Pepsi REALLY screwed me up!!! Lol.
Black Forest Ham Sub (w/o chz) - 300 calories
Honey Roasted Peanuts - 160 calories (ahhhh....big mistake!)
That puts me at 1,160 calories, with only 415 for the rest of the day, so heres the plan:
The other half of my sub for dinner, 300 calories. Then for my mid-afternoon snack: 3 egg whites cooked with pickles (I know...what a combination! haha), that should pretty much use up all my calories for the day. GREAT!!! Darn Soda!
Nicole- - to figure your daily caloric intake for female: 1-figure your basal metabolic rate (655+(4.3 x weight in lbs.)+(4.7 x height in inches)-(4.7 x age in years) = bmr. *based on your profile info this is 1676. 2-score your activity level during every day life-this do not count exercise (sedentary: desk job-sit most of day)=1.1, light activity: walk around half day-ex: stay at home mom, salesperson, doctor =1.2, moderate activity: move most of day-ex: gardeners, carpenters mail carrer =1.3, high activity: constantly on the move-ex: construction, farm worker, mover =1.4) *based on your job (desk?) and playing with daughter/pets, etc. I'm guessing a 1.1 or 1.2 3-exercise expenditure-there is a chart for this... for your weight (rounded to 200) and 1 hour of the following exercises: walking 4 mph-399, jogging 5 mph-576, swimming-399, cycling 13 mph-760, heavy aerobic-644, light weights-372, intense weights-592 *from what you've told us here, I'm going with intense weights to total (if it's more in a day, refigure this). OK, now the REAL formula..hahaha! BMR/1676 x Daily activity score/1.1 + exercise expenditure/592 = Active Metabolic Rate/2603.2 Again, you can redo these numbers if I'm off.
A lb of fat is 3,500 calories, so if you want to lose 1 lb a week, you have to drop 3,500 calories in a week, or, 500 calories a day. Now subtract 500 calories from your daily AMR (2603.2) and that is what your caloric intake should be each day, 2103.2-and for a week, 14,722.4. To do the caloric cycling, vary the numbers from day to day, but don't go over 14,722.4 for the week and you will lose 1 lb. I hope that makes sense.
I also hope I haven't infringed upon a copyright! LOL!
I'm depressed today, but this helped me cause I'm helping. I think it's time for TOM cause I get VERY emotional and dwell on all the bad stuff in my life. I'm wondering how my mom is gonna do by herself (I've been over each day after work and I'm not sure she's remembering what she needs to-hope this improves-she also just called and I'm listening to her while typing this), work is stressful/worrisome, I'm just waiting on my car to die (cause I can't afford a new one), gas just went up AGAIN! (2.48-ugh), I still haven't had the time/energy to get my salad stuff together (I get home and I just want to sit down)....there's more, but I'll quit. It's all stuff that will pass in a day or two once TOM hits. But until then, the world is ending...LOL!
Just checking in and saw I messed up the final calculation for Nicole. The total AMR, 2603.2, was figured using an activity level of 1.2. It if were 1.1 like I wrote, her AMR would be 2435.6.
Well amazingly, I got up and am down on my weight again! I'm not going to list it cause I don't wanna jinx myself. But if I stay steady and get moving again-should be able to work out tonight..no plans yipee! I'm sure some of this is water, but when does it become actual fat that I'm losing?
Kelly - thank you so much for the calculus lesson! Lol, no seriously - I really appreciate it! I hate hearing that your going through a derpession stage, but I can totally relate. As the days get closer to July I grow worrysome and sad, worst yet - my husband sat down yesterday and poured his heart out on how he wants to work through our marriage and doesnt want to move out and something in my mind is not working right now and I am having some extreme doubt for some reason and I told him no, I still wanted him to move out. Ugh...why? Im just so confused. He apologized for his actions recently and said he was willing to work on all areas to get our marriage back on track and I said no?! Idk, I know I hold the cards here but I am so incredibly confused. We went through this back in October where we got really bad and said we were going to work through it and in March we were right back where we started, so I think thats where my confusion and frustration is. I am taking a huge risk though because my mom said that once I do figure things out or I might regret them down the road, he might be over it and "jump ship". Grrrrr.....so confused. Anyway, Kelly - I hope things start to get on the up and up for you. You have A LOT on your plate right now and in time, it will piece together, its just a lot at once and that could cause anyway to feel depressed. My heart goes out to you and if you ever want to send me a personal message, please do!
On a separate note, I turned my low calorie day yesterday into a high calorie day. After me and my husbands talk, I binge ate a piece of pie. I know how many calories it was exactly, which was 1900 total for the day, so I am going to do 1300 today and 1500 tomorrow, this all still falls within my caloric range.
Ill check in later - hopefully some of you check in.
Hello Ladies!! I am back from my vacation and I think I did farely well. I did not really eat a lot when I was in Vegas it was really really hot there and I did not consume that much alcohol only the first day I was there really. I have been able to keep 2 pounds off so I will be changing my ticker!! Finally!!
I had a fun time, a little drama, but overall it was fun. We did an extreme amount of walking. My feet hurt soo bad on Saturday I had to hang out in the hotel for a few hours!! LOL I only brought flip flops and dress boots, and it was way to hot for the dress boots!! We pretty much did sight seeing and I took lots of pics. I went there with my cousin and one of our friends, my friend, is going through some personal issues. She claims to be bipolar and is taking meds when she feels, and drinking when she shouldn't she ended up spazzing on me a few times. and totally ditching my cousin and myself so we had to spend alot of time looking for her, as she did not bring her phone. It was a little frustrating, then in the airport waiting for our flight home she freaked out on me and basically dumped me in front of a full airport!! It was embarassing. She was yelling at me since I told her that there was a sign she needed to combine her carry on bags and she freaked and said I was a ***** and she just couldn't do this anymore she is through with me!! So she changed her seat so she didn't have to sit by me and had her boyfriend pick her up and we already had a freind picking us up. So I have yet to talk to her. Which I am thinking may be for the better. I was kinda dreading the trip before going because of her moods, but this is ok with me to end it. I feel bad, but you can't help ppl that don't want to be helped.
I am back to jillians 30 day shred tonight, Burgandy!! Full force we CAN do this. I am ready.
I am going to do some slim fast to get a boost then go into the lawl diet again. I am going to do my best to go 30 - 40 days with out any alcohol. I think that will really help me. I am not a drinker, just that I was on a dart league for the past 11 weeks or so and I was around that atmosphere and my hubby and I were drinking every week with friends. So I want to change it up and lay off, he does to so I think it will go well together. Also, this upcoming Sunday I have started a kickball team it's on Sunday evenings doubl;e header games, so that will help with exercise, at least that's what my hubby says, it's exercise and something different. With kickball, jillian, and lawl diet. I am hoping to loose at least 2 pounds per week. Or 10 pounds a month. My goal is to loose around 50 pounds by October. I am going to the dells in June over fathers day and would like to have smaller thighs at least for the suit!! I am counting on jillian totally for that?!?!?
Kelly: Great job on the no smoking keep it up you can do it, and it will get easier!! The 30 ds is hard, I can't lie, at least at first but it does get better. If you are able to maybe you can rent the dvd and watch it to see if you like it otherwise I think someone mentioned that part or most of her circuits are on you tube or something like that. I think it was Burgandy who mentioned it a while back. Also, what's in your spinach salad> I like spinach, but never know what to make with it.
Hope it's okay for me to still join and post here.
My name is Lyndsey and I joined a while back but lost my focus. I forgot how much motivation I needed to keep on track. I sort of hit my plateau for a few months until four weeks ago when I got my spark back so-to-speak. I've been hitting the gym five times a week and eating really healthy and lost 12 pounds in four weeks.
It's really great to read and hear how well all of you are doing. I can only hope I can achieve half the success that you all have
Whew! 3FC is back. I tried to read today and it was down for maintenance. I was panicking! Today has been a good food day. I had oatmeal, WW yogurt, my wheat pasta/LF cheese/hamburger thing and spinach salad at work today. My aunt to mom to the doc today and I had to pick her up, so by the time I got to the store (supplies to make minestrone again) I was so hungry. I had coupons for white castle burgers and they were on sale...oh goody!! So when I got home, I had 2 and that's it, just to take the hunger off before I make soup. I got that and a couple of other bad freezer foods, but they won't be eaten for a while. They are there for when I really spaz. I figure it can be part of my calorie cycling if I watch it. So, no exercise today, I'm wiped. Helping my mom get around really sucks it out of ya. Oh also (side note), my cousin had her 3rd baby today. I think her water broke last night and the baby wasn't due for another month! She has 2 boys and now a girl-I can't remember her name though-shoot! Anyway, baby shower for Sat will be rescheduled, so I can be sure to exercise on Saturday. Woo Hoo!
Burgundy - Welcome back! I am sorry that your friend was 'spazzing' and flippin out on you. I think you hit the nail head on that you can't make anyone change. Look at me, I've been in this group with you all for how long....and I just recently got my crap together. I finally decided, enough is enough and that is what your friend will have to do.
Now the good stuff!! You did AWESOME by keeping the 2 lbs off on vacation...like FREAKIN AWESOME! Hey! Where did our tickers go?!?! Hope that comes back after the maintenance.
The spinach salad is a complete rip-off of Bob Evans country spinach salad. It has: spinach, strawberries, grape tomatoes, 1 boiled egg, bacon, scallions, almonds and chicken. They serve with hot bacon dressing, but I can't make that and I'm sure it's way loaded with fat. I made a LF ranch to eat with it (lite mayo, lite sour cream, dill, parsley, chives, garlic powder and onion powder-yummy!). Hope you like the salad-lots of good stuff!
Starlet - Welcome back! Sounds like you found your resolve and can help us all stay with it.
Nicole - Let me know if I figured your numbers right or if I was TOTALLY off. That's Jillian's formula, so with your exercise activity, looks like you should be eating more calories! I was surprised at my number too-considering my activity is very low and I do sit at a desk all day.

Welcome Starlet - jump right in! I think you'll love this group. We have had so many join and it has been just amazing. The support, jokes and genuine love here is indescribable.
Anyway, I am happy to report that I did REALLY well today. Here it goes:
Cheerios (3/4 cup) with 1/2 cup skim milk - 150 calories
Protein shake - 150 calories
1 small cup of coffee - 50 calories
Snack bag of salt and vinegar chips - 150 calories
McDonalds bacon garden grilled chicken salad with balsamic dressing - 300 calories
Banana - 90 calories
Fat Free Yogurt - 90 calories
Cucumbers in vinegar - 0 calories
Cod Filet (baked)- 180 calories
1.5 cup of northern bean soup - 120 calories
I WAS at 1300 calories - perfect. THEN I went to my moms really quick and had 1 sticken taco and when I got home looked it up, 375 calories!!! Im still at 1675, so thats not TERRIBLE, my high calorie is 2100 and if I just cut 500 off of that each week, I am guaranteed to lose a pound but sheez....what a waste of calories. Oh well. Live and learn.
Kity - welcome back!!! Yay, Im so proud that you did not overindulge on your trip and better yet, got a lot of exercise in! Woot-woot. Sorry to hear about your friend. I think we all have friends like this, but its good to distinguish who your true friends are and in my opinion, any friends that bring drama to your life, are not worth your time. I may be wrong because I dont know the girl but at least you and your cousin had fun with each other.
Kelly - the formula does seem about right. With the website I calculated, 2100 was a high day, but the numbers I have been using is for "extreme weight loss". It is on 2 levels, 1 pound a week or extreme weighloss with 2-3 pounds a week. Down the road I may switch it up but I am going to go with the lower ratios until my trip in June. Thanks again! How are you feeling? Better I hope.
Ill check in tomorrow. Im hungry right now and normally I would sleep it off but tonight is American Idol (yay!), so I just need to stay away from the kitchen.
Nicole - I know, the formula seems off, but that is what it said. I'll check again though. GREAT JOB on tracking your food and calories. That is superb!! Don't beat yourself up over 1 lousy taco. Now that you know how much it's worth (or not), next time you are offered, you will be able to think it through and say no. So lesson learned and tomorrow is a new day. You did sooo good!
I made a bag of LF salty and sweet kettle corn popcorn while my soup cooked. Lucky for me, I burned most of it! The popcorn that is. Oh, I also had a celery stalk with organic peanut butter in it. I've been having a spoon of the peanut butter bout every other night. And I just ate a bowl of the soup and guzzled down about 18 oz of water. If my water is cold-then I can drink a lot.
Lindy-keep us updated on the calorie cycling. Sounds interesting. Hopefully you and your husband can come to the right decision. So sorry you are going through all this, but you are strong and will come out on top, no matter what is decided.
Kelly-Sorry to hear you have been depressed. I hope things turn around for you soon. Hopefully once your mom gets into a routine things will settle down for you. Yay, for your weight being down. Think you had me confused with Kity.
Kity-glad you are back. Sounds like you did have some drama on your trip but I'm glad you kept the 2 lbs off. Now we can get o losing more with the 30DS. What is the lawl diet. Good luck with the slim fast. You will being losing in no time now with all the exercise you are going to be getting in.
Starlet-Welcome, it sounds like you are doing a great job.
I am sticking with the 30DS and walking. Trying to ride my bike more too. I am going to weigh on Saturday, hopefully I can change my ticker then. Food has been good this week so far. I am hoping to see a bigger number than 1 this time. I finally got some yard work in, but there are so many leaves in this small area I have to rake. I dont think it has been raked in years. We have only lived here a little over a year and it was an older couple here before us, so I have a lot of work ahead of me in the next couple of days so I can get my flowers in the ground. It wont be tomorrow though. I have to work 1-midnight again. I will have to do my workout in the morning before I leave.
Ok, I have a little under a month to lose as much as I can. We are leaving for Alabama to see my family on June 2nd. I want to try to lose 8-10 more lbs. Its gonna be hard but I am being really strict with eating and keeping up on my workouts. I cant wait to get down there in that nice hot weather, I miss it. Michigan weather is so different. My sister has lost 22 lbs but she weighs 150something, but I want to catch up to her 22. Thats only 4 more lbs for me, so I think I can do that.
