Eep, just checking in again; this time with much more time to post! I feel like my eating habits didn't go anywhere out of line. My boss did push an ice cream bar on me, but that just meant to cut down elsewhere. Luckily when I got home, I just had some pieces of white meat chicken & soup for dinner instead of the whole fridge my grandma seems to prepare. :lol:

NorthernExposure - Oh man, it's the worst isn't it? I always feel guilty if my grandma asks me if I ate her food? Normally I do, but when she makes fried or sweet things, I take a piece and she goes, "that's it?" It makes me feel horrible, like I hate her cooking or something!

fruitlady - Great job on staying on plan!

KDM322 - good job on not giving into the fried "goodness" haha. I totally get you on the TOM thing though. When it lurks around the corner, I could probably eat the cabinets out of food. :( Stay strong! I know you can hold back.

tinneranne2 - Don't sweat it; tomorrow's another day! When I'm starving, water or a glass of 70 cal vanilla soy is my best friend. It is an extra 70 calories, but I do think it's a much better alternative than the snacks in my house. :)

helthierhy - First off, welcome to 3fc! :hug: Anyway, I'm not quite sure myself. I tend to get thrown off by all the different challenges that are going on. Lol!

Anywho, smart me decided to do my 45min of cardio before plopping down on the computer. Now I am free to be lazy for the rest of the night! :)

jendiet 09-15-2011 04:40 AM

I'm popping back in. I have been very slothly on keeping track of my calories..lets just say I have been only maintaining for the past week. Stupid birthdays. Tomorrow, I am going to get more serious. My goal is 1800-2000 calories. and <200 carbs. I am writing it down in my food journal. I guess I just won't drink my night cap, and maybe that will lessen my hunger.

so tomorrow's goals: jog 1 mile, 1800-2000 cs, some form of strength, 5000 steps.

good morning everyone! ~~ Okay I think I've found out where I'm messing up. I am craving sweets SOO BAD.. I dont binge, but I know that I shouldnt be eating candy or sweets every single day! :no: ... I really need more healthy alternatives for sweets.. I eat my suggested portion of fruit, & I stay away from fruit juice.. But towards the end of the day, I want skittles, or starbursts or some kind of processed chemical of the like.. I need to do better! Other than that, I'm headed towards another OP week :yes: .. I dont do much counting on Saturdays.. today's goal is 100oz of water! You chicas have a beautiful day!

Tdiprincess hey! Nice to find a local!

I may have gone to Jim's Steakout at like 4am...had an 8in steak hoagie. JIMS, WHY YOU NO HAVE NUTRITION INFORMATION ONLINE? seriously. I can't find it anywhere. I'm gonna guess 1000 calories. Just bun, meat, lettuce. No mayo or anything (thank god for small favors. Lol).

So, this may seem a stupid question based on my last two posts...but generally I eat better. ~400 calorie taco salads w/ fat free refried beans are my "go to" meal. I track my calories using the LoseIt! App. I'm allowed 1265 and it says I should lose 2lbs a week. Um, that is SO not happening. I'm not gaining but I'm not really
losing either. What's up with that?

tdiprincess 09-15-2011 12:04 PM

I LOVE Jim's!! HA!! LOL. But, I agree, they really need to list their nutrition..but then we'd run for the hills LOL!!
I too enjoy taco salads. They're quite filling and lower carb than a taco with more veggies!! You seem to be doing really well overall. It is hard to transition. I don't know about you, but I can't get by on 1265 calories everyday. Maybe a couple times a week, but generally I eat between 1400-1600 based on my activities. I've started looking at my net calorie intake. I try to keep it around -1000 net calories. So if I get to 1400 and I'm at -1000 net calories, then I don't eat more. But, if I'm higher than that like -1200 or 1500, then I'll eat another snack. It seems to be working for me..
Either way, we're all different and we all need to find what works best for us.

sorry no other personals.. I will later today. Off to snooze for a bit!

NorthernExposure 09-15-2011 01:31 PM

Tinneranne: I use the lose it app too. I set my "pace" at 1 lb/week and it allows me 1698 calories, but I shoot for about 1500-1600 (with or without exercise, though I do log my exercise there too.) No way I could live on 1200 calories for an extended period of time. I'm coming off a period of maintenence and just started going back to the "losing" phase for this challenge, so we'll see how 1600 caloreis works. I may need to lower if I don't see a steady loss after a few weeks, but I figure it's a good starting point! I do find when I really stick to my program, I do seem to lose a little more than my official "pace", (i.e., when I had it set to two pounds at the beginning of my journey, I lost closer to 3 a week.) At this point, I'm OK with a slow loss so a lb/week would be fine...but more would certainly be a bonus!

In other news...had an interesting morning. Found a poor little dog literally standing in the middle of the road half frozen. No collar. I had to get to work, but I couldn't just leave him there. Called work to let them know I'd be late and brought him back to my house. He's hanging out in my laundry room at the moment (had to keep him seperated from my dog, and not sure how potty trained he is??) Made some phone calls to the city and county animal control in case someone is looking for him. Also called the closest animal shelter, but just got a message saying the shelter is basically closed?? Not sure what I'm going to do with this little guy when I get home. Hope someone calls looking for him!

I cheated a little today and had a cookie (kitchen ladies were bringing them around, couldn't resist!) But since I have a low cal dinner planned tonight, I can afford it and still be within my budget...albiet at the higher end. WI day tomorrow, of course...LOL! I'm hoping I'll get to move my ticker soon!!

Have a good day, everyone!

Well hubby is well and back work today. I'm in need of some serious rest because TOM is kicking my backside today. I just want to curl up and go to sleep. I have been on plan however when I woke up this morning I felt so bloated. I'm drinking water all day and I swear it doesn't seem to be helping. I shall persevere. We went walking last night because my hubby wanted to see how he would handle being out and on his feet for a long period of time. So I got in about 2hrs of walking around the stores. He did well so he decided to go to work. OH YEA LIFE BACK TO NORMAL!!!

Tomorrow is NSV (Non Scale Victory) day!!! I'm so ready for it. It always puts me in a good mood seeing everyone's successes for the week.

Glad to see there are still new people joining in on this Challenge. Hop in list something or somethings you would like to accomplish by Halloween and get it done!! It could be a weight goal, exercise goal, eliminating a food or drink or just logging your food and calories everyday. WE don't mind what you choose we just like having you here.

Today's Nugget: Giving up is not an option. There may be obstacles, issues, problems but you can not quit. If what you are doing seems overwhelming tweak your plan. If you gave up everything at once and it seems more difficult start over with a minor change here and there. You HAVE to keep going. This is a journey not a pit stop.

hey everyone!! I'm back from a looooong hiatus. I need ths site. I've gained weight when I should have been losing it.

My goal is to lose 20 lbs by Halloween. Tough, but I need the challenge.

Good luck everyone!!!

fruitlady 09-15-2011 08:34 PM

farn- Welcome back!

Ok, calories were 1397, walked 31min. I'm trying to eat clean so I can lose this water weight and I keep screwing up. Had 7 M&M's, then made 2 servings of peanut butter w/ 2 tsp of confectioners sugar in it. It was delicious, even got hubby to love it too. Even little cheats like that will stall my weight loss, I've been stuck at the same weight for three days, water is not leaving. I've got to stop these little cheats!

The Jim's Steakout Calorie Quest is Complete!!!

So, for my Buffalo gals...

Jim's Famous Steak Hoagie (8in)
calories: 1083
fat: 43g
carbs: 82g
protein: 65g

So not much worse than 5 pizza logs (in terms of calories at least). Wayyyyy over on calories yesterday...though still below 'maintenance' allotment. Brand new day today, eating very carefully (many leafy greens and other yumtastic veggies) so I may enjoy the party tonight as I wish. :)

I can relate to the sweet craving. It's like every day I have to have some form of chocolate, etc.

This week I kept track of my calories from last Friday until about Wednesday, at which point I kind of ate too much and said forget it - LOL. However, yesterday was a pretty good day foodwise and this morning on the scale I lost 2.4 lbs since last Friday's weigh in. That's a lot for me in one week so I am happy. Still have not had a sip of soda so that is good though I don't really like to drink a lot of water at all so I know it's not good if I basically don't drink much of anything all day. So I have to work on that.

Have a great weekend everyone!

NorthernExposure 09-16-2011 12:04 PM

Happy Friday!!

So good news on the dog we found. After work we went knocking on doors (felt kind of creepy just going up to random people's houses, lol.) No one knew that dog. We were just about to give up when we saw a girl riding around on a 4-wheeler looking in the woods. We pulled up and asked if she was looking for a dog. Her: "Yes." Us: "I think we have him here in our car!" It was a happy reunion and a happy ending :)

So I'm down 1.1 lbs this week to 178.6. (I lied a little on my ticker...was really closer to 180 than 179)...but I will move it the second I get below 178.5. So even though no ticker movement, I did have scale movement! Pretty happy about this, especially after some overeating for hubby's b-day.

I'm still struggling a bit with meeting my exercise goals (at least 20 minutes at least 5 days a week). I started off strong this week, but decided to get lazy after the dog incident yesterday. Well, I guess I could make up for it if I work out at least 2 days this weekend. (Does painting your garage count as a workout??)

Have a good weekend, all!

NorthernExposure 09-16-2011 12:10 PM

Oh, Hi Farn! Welcome back!

KDM322 09-16-2011 05:35 PM

OK. so it's Friday..WHERE ARE ALL THE NSV's???? I didn't get to sign on last Friday but I have the same NSV for last week AND today.....I SAID NO TO THE DONUTS WE HAVE EVERY WEDNESDAY AT THE OFFICE!!!! yay! I usually give in and say "what the heck" but not the last 2 weeks! You know why...BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS!!!! thanks so much for being here!!!

So I went to the gym yesterday AND today...Yesterday I did 20min lower body ST, then 25min on elliptical & 35min on the treadmill at 3.0mph & incline of 5 for a total of 60min of CARDIO!!! and today I did 20min of upper body ST and 45min on treadmill at 3mph & incline of 5....Now if only I had a bodybugg or fitbit or something of the sort so I could compare the readings to the numbers on the cardio machines for calories burned...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***Speaking of that...do any of you use the bodybugg or fitbit??? I want one, but not sure which one to get. I've heard good things about both...anybody have experience with either of them????
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~
Thanks! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
tinneranne2 09-16-2011 06:13 PM
oh right! my NSV. it is really small, but I'm counting it.
I walked into Wegmans today using the side door, right past the pizza section. I swear they had *just* put out all the fresh, delicious pizzas. My favorite kinds, too. Pepperoni and mushrooms, white pizza, etc. Oh, and I was starving.
I grabbed the couple items I needed, and snagged a package of blueberries instead. :)
