Hi, R2R! Welcome to Calorie Counters. We are happy to have you among us. Seven pounds is a great start! Nothing to sneeze at, there.

I'm sure GrammyL is fine. She is probably busy, what with family, horses and all.

He. He. Irish, sounds as if your bod is playing tricks on you. Maybe zig-zagging your calories a bit (nothing too drastic) would shake things up and get you on the downward path, once again? Please don't get discouraged, you are doing so well. And you are certainly an inspiration to me.

dgramie, I get a little rumbly in my tumbly between meals, too. I keep reminding myself that it is normal to feel that way. That my prior feeling full and stuffed with food all the time just isn't normal. I am trying to teach myself to relish that light, not full feeling, rather than rebel against it. (I'll let you know how that is going... )

I had a good, OP day, yesterday. Calories topped out at: 1058. Drank plenty of water, about 3/4 of a gallon or a bit more. Walked 50 miles, running to the loo. Drinking large amounts is getting easier. I hardly noticed downing all the water, I did, yesterday.

I hope everyone has a great day.

well I home from the drs office. Iron level was a bit low so im on a pill for that. I had lost 16lbs since there last time(early june). Blood pressure was a bit low so decreasing my meds. Said that should help with my pulse staying so low also. He offered me a diet aid but I said NO thanks!! HE said it would help with being so hungry. I think no matter what he says my body is trying to tell me something. He said sometimes when you have lost a large amount your body tries to rebel. He was very pleased with my weight loss and overall health. He said i made a good call by coming in because my meds did need adjusting. I think i will increase my calories by 300 for a week and see what happens.

Well I am ready to scream. I am still stuck at 171 and I am not sure what to do. I am debating about adding bread for the day to see what happens but part of me is scared that if I do I will screw up the fact I would have lost a lb today or something. I am scared to alter anything but obviously this isn't working. It could be my body in shock because I dropped 4lbs in 2 days. it could also be shock from no longer having carbs. the other problem I find is I am tired to the point I don't want to do anything. I was only cutting bread for this week to give myself a boost I am finding no carbs makes me tired and grumpy though....any advice

dont really have any advice but i can give hugs. HUG
I know after I have been off bad carbs for a few days I start to feel better. Maybe you need to give the carb thing a few more days. I am kinda relieved to know my iron level was low and that is why im so tired all the time. Cant wait to get it back up. He even told me to eat red meat!! He also said rasins are great.
my weight is still up a bit with Tom . GRRR
I have 2 more days before I weigh in again. Hopefully it will be gone by then.
Im taking the rest of this week off from exercise and then hitting it again on sunday.
HOpe everyone is having a wonderful day

DGramie : Thanks hun. I am glad to know that it was only your iron too. Which makes me think...I haven't had red meat in weeks. Not intentionally but just haven't had it...maybe thats why I have been going to be at 9?

Dgramie, congrats on 16 pounds. That is great. It is good that your meds needed adjusting. you are doing something right. And getting healthier in the meantime.

Had a good day, yesterday. Calories ended up at: 1215. Drank almost a gallon of water.

The yellowjacket saga continues, so walking outdoors is still off limits for me. *sigh* It is hard to get rid of those little creeps.

Must run... I have a ton of stuff to get done, today. Take care and have a great day, everyone.

Irish ~ Congrats on the weight loss. I am glad you finally ran away from my weight because I always falter when someone weighs about the same as me. The harder I try to keep up with them the worse I do. LOL! Its almost like a curse and I need to be by myself.

Tinky ~ Congrats on the wedding going so well. I think its cute that you were all giggly. Sorry to hear about the loss.

Rain ~ Good job the calories.

I am going to reply page by page because I am so far behind. I wasn't able to be online to post until today because it was so crazy around here. I think I am about caught up but we shall see. LOL!

Every court needs a fool. And I am that fool. Would someone please tell me why I thought eating four... Count 'em, four Slim a Bear ice cream treats was a good idea, yesterday? You see, I thought I had a good reason. The power was out and, my freezer, resembling Old Mother Hubbard's cupbard, thanks to the fact that shopping day approaches, got warm, fast. And the few things in there, thawed, fast. There was an entire box of those treats and in order not to see them go to waste, my son and I split them. Then, when the power came back on, the mostly thawed frozen dinners also had to be cooked and eaten or thrown away. So, I downed a Lean Cuisine, then I snagged a manicotti off one of his, then, to top off the feeding fun, I finished off the tortilla chips in the bag on top of the fridge. They weren't affected by the outage, at all. The poor things were just in my line of fire.

So, all in all, I downed 2008 calories, yesterday. I am not very happy about it, either. True, I don't think I did any real damage, physically. But mentally and emotionally, I really set myself back, again.

What. An. Idiot.

Dgramie, I am so happy to see that you are at a lowest weight. That is so great.

Irish, yay for your new outfit. I'm sure you will be wearing it in no time.

Hi, Grammy. It's good to see you.

Have a great, on track day, everyone.

LOL Irish. Yep, I felt lost myself. Work just went absolutely crazy and I felt like I was spinning out of control. I even snapped at a faculty member because his demands were unrealistic and I let him know about it. It was the evil side coming out.

Suggestion on being tired. Remember I have done all diets on earth. LOL! I was on Atkins, I became very drained and ended up with kidney stones so I had to discontinue the plan. Your body does have to have carbs for brain function and energy. Bread or pasta may not be your best choices but they are definitely not the devil either. If your worried about gain, try more complex carbs like brown rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes or even one of the pastas that does raise your blood sugars as much. I am not sure if you are still consuming your fruit or not but that is also a good source of carbs.

It is important to control your carb intake but they certainly are necessary to keep your body fueled. I usually only have about a 1/2 c. of carb per meal.

Now if you decide to add them back you may have an initial gain and the reason why is carbohydrates are stored in water in the muscle as a quick source of energy. So when you start to add them back, your body likes to store them. With storage comes water weight gain.

When I was on a high protein diet I would gain lots of weight with just about any consumption of carbs. I could literally feel my body puffing up and I couldn't drink enough water. Of course it came right back off when I eliminated the carbs but you think about it, that is kind of scary.

The same thing can happen on the program I am doing now except sodium is the culprit. I am on a low sodium program so as soon as I eat salty stuff, I blow right up. Then I have to lose all the water again. Wonderful program but it is hard to deal with water weight gain all the time.

Geez, I sound like a nutritionist. LOL!

Rain ~ HUGE HUGS! Now I am no expert or anything but I think your calories are to low for your weight. Just me, seems like they should be a little higher than what your consuming.

Dgramie ~ I eat chicken and turkey all the time. If you have a grill just grill her up some chicken. I like to put a variety of meats on the grill, works well that way. That way everyone can have what they want. I have grilled chicken, turkey burgers, steak, hamburger, brats and pork tenderloin all at the same time. Everyone wanted something different and thats what they got. No grill, just bake her up some chicken and fry what everyone else wants. I do this all the time. LOL! Hope you start feeling better with the adjustments.

Some thoughts:

I have read tons of books, been on all kinds of programs and have really agreed with some things and not so much with others but I don't have any formal education.

Our bodies are smarter than we are. They have build in survival instincts and we can try to trick them for a short time but those survival instincts will eventually overrule your will power. Happens all the time.

If you consume artificial sweeteners, try to cute them out especially if you are diabetic. Your body is smarter than the sweeteners, it knows they are not real. You can trick your taste buds but not the sensors in the body. What sometimes happens, I am a victim of this I do believe, you start craving more and more because your body knows your giving it the calories it wants. Read articles on this and they can have side effects. I use natural things that don't raise the blood sugar as much like Agava and Stevia. Not as sweet but good and you get used to it.

Don't lower your calories to drastically. I have read this a lot. The best thing to do is lower it by a couple hundred calories and when you stop losing lower it again. Yes, this means slow weight loss but your body isn't as apt to notice the calorie reduction as much and you may not get as strong of cravings.

Have you watch Calorie Commando on FoodTV? He recreates peoples favorite dishes but makes them lower in calories and fat then the original. Learn to recreate your favs using lower calorie products. If they taste good and it satisfies your cravings, its a win, win situation.

I am still coming to terms with my relationship with food. That is hard one and something I have to do. Food is a part of life but is should be used as fuel not as a friend, entertainment or a comfort.

Hello everyone. Just thought I'd drop in and read what you've all been up to. I am still not back on program. Some days I eat alot, and there are other days that I am hardly eating anything. I was at the rheumatologist the other day, and my weight was down from when I was there in April. She was happy. l then told her about my husband, and she then told me not to worry too much about food and diet, and to just make it through the grieving part. She had met my husband several times, and it really came as a shock to her.

I hope to get back into a regular eating plan soon. My son goes back to college on Sunday, so that will be another emotional time for me. I'll just do what I have to do.

I'll try to get back to reading and posting with you soon. I do miss you!!

Oh, Grammy, we were in Frankenmuth last weekend. Hit the good restaurants and the outlet mall and the shops.
