Self-taught photog here too. Well, I took some correspondance courses thru New York Institute of Photography - but you can't "teach" someone to have an "eye" for photography. I am going to school for Business to learn how to run our photog business. We're doing great with it. I LOVE photography and wouldn't want to do anything else!

We had no clue how to get into it either - but we jumped headfirst and are doing wonderfully!

Good morning ladies! I just went and socked some "money" into my Exercise challenge piggy bank, and put some miles on for our challenge trip. Woohoo!!!
Hope you all are doing great! First weigh-in is just around the corner! I'm so excited!

Hope everyone is having an on plan day and racking up the exercise points. I'm making sure that I get as many extra steps as possible in during the day. I park farther out in the lot, go out at lunch time and walk around the building and move my car, go the the farthest ladies room and print my stuff at one of the printers that is further down the hall. I'm lucky that I work in a giant office that used to be a warehouse so it's quite roomy in here.

Purple - I heard a long time ago that on days you are feeling less motivated to just tell yourself you'll do 10 minutes. And get up there and do it. After 10 minutes re-assess. Tell yourself 10 minutes more. Chances are really good you'll finish the whole routine because most of the procrastination is done in the first 10 minutes. Good for you for finishing it out!

Blzmax - love your walking the dog smiley - very cute!

Have a good day - get those parts movin'

I think some people underestimate how much just being a little more active can help. My mother eats in the neighbourhood of 2000 cals a day, and that doesn't include the 3 or 4 bags of candy she buys every Friday at the shop she frequents. She's just at the top range of a healthy BMI (but at 80, not looking to change that). She doesn't do any truly heavy work (that's my job), but she's what I would call a busy type, even though she usually naps in the afternoon for a little while. In theory (using age, current bodyweight, general activity levels) she should be maintaining at about 1500 cals. In practice her daily has got to be closer to 2500. And she's been heavier years ago (although probably only 50 lbs heavier) so it's not like she doesn't gain weight. That daily moving about, fiddling with stuff, going back and forth 6 times to do a simple task, obviously makes the difference.

On that note I have some dusting/cleaning up to do. In theory that's why I finished up my exercises in the morning. In practice I'm avoiding it, although if I don't do it today then that's what I'll be doing Saturday!

Hope everyone is having a good, on plan day. Oh, and I'll be hitting that NC beach tomorrow morning by the way. Although I won't post until I'm done in the afternoon with my lifting.

Just checking in -- I'm going to have to figure out how I'm going to be able to keep up with this list! Outpacing me on words and workouts!

I've managed to get to the gym in the morning for four days straight -- a record for several months. I've worked out but usually skip mornings and try to make it up during the day which just messes up my family schedule.

Thanks for the lasagna recipe and the eggplant recipes -- my husband's a vegetarian and they will be really nice to try out. Not sure if they'll like eggplant lasagna but my mom used to make it every once in a while and we loved it.

Go Black Team!
