QOTD~

I'm hoping that losing weight will give me some chance of conceiving a baby. We really want a baby. 5 years and still nothing. I also have PCOS, so I'll probably go on fertility meds sometime after dh gets back. But maybe, just maybe..losing weight will help my fertility. I'm very hopeful of the future. Please God, bless us with a Navy brat!!!

Worse..I'll probably more addicted to shopping than I am now, lol.

That makes me sad for you. I wish you success in your journey to a more confident self, whether it is weight related or not.

What do you think losing weight will change in your life? What do you think will be different?

I hope I will feel better in my clothes. I would like to feel sexy again. And I will not mind having my picture taken as much as I do now.

Mostly I'm looking to avoid all the nasty health problems that run in my family as we get older. Most of my family is very overweight and we have the cornucopia of health problems to with it - arteries, heart problems, diabetes, gall bladders, kidney problems, stomach problems, intestinal problems, etc... And I'm having to watch my grandparents and aunts and uncles struggle to lose weight at their age. So I figure I'm way better off getting it out of the way now, when I'm young! Plus my sister developed gestational diabetes with her first baby, I'm hoping that losing weight will head that off for me when I do decide to have kids.

So to answer the question: what I think will be better is my health

The only bad thing I can think of is I'll have to go buy a whole new wardrobe. Maybe my attitude towards shopping and my financial situation will change sufficiently by then such that I can enjoy the wardrobe change... But looking forward to it now is an impossibility!

What do you think losing weight will change in your life? What do you think will be different? Better? Worse?

Better:
I think that I will stress less about my general health, in particular my risk for heart disease. My Dad died of a heart attack at 53. Everyone (both parents, all his aunts, and both siblings) in his family has has a issue with heart attacks/strokes/cancer. Some of that was their lifestyle choices, but some is genetics, too. Since I got 1/2 of my genes from that group, my chances are high for heart disease. I need to maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep the odds in my favor.

Additionally I can start dressing better again. Not that I dress badly now, but my choices are more limited. Shopping used to be fun. Now it's a hassle.

Worse:
DH and I have very little in common when it comes to health/food. It's probably going to get worse before it gets better. He needs to lose about 40 pounds too, but he's not motivated to do it, he just wants to whine about it. Whereas I am actually taking action. Sadly to say, the more action I have to take alone, the less action he gets.

What won't change: I'm still going to be snarky, obsessive compulsive, and unabashedly frugal and perpetually broke. Haven't found a weightloss plan yet that changes any of those things.

All this talk of tatts and piercings is making me itch to get something done! I had a vine done around my ankle when I was 18 and my plan is to add flowers to it to represent our family members whenever we've stopped having kids. A friend of a friend was going to do them for free as part of his apprenticeship, but things didn't work out for him so I'm back to waiting again.

I've had 7 piercings between both ears but I think I can only use three holes these days. I love wearing a hoop at the top but it tends to be uncomfortable when I'm sleeping. Whenever I wear earrings in my lobes I get really sore. Maybe I need some better quality earrings?

For the QOTD?

Losing weight will help me to feel physically better (more energy, not so achy all the time), it will make running easier, and I will be able to choose my clothing based on what makes me look best instead of what fits.

My tentative plan is also to try to get pregnant after running my half marathon in the fall. I sort of need to get DH on board on that though. He's thinking that two kids is enough but I've got some pretty strong baby fever going on here! I really do want to drop some weight before even thinking about getting pregnant again though because I don't want to be so huge and uncomfortable. I'd also be planning a homebirth (possibly unassisted) and I would feel more confident about birthing if I were in better shape.

1) Your snark makes me smile, but probably because it has not yet been directed at me.
2) Does OCD lead to a cleaner house? Because I could use some.
3) Dave Ramsey, baby!

My mom always has exercised and eaten well. My dad did not until his quad bypass. Now they both are in great shape. I hope it does not take open heart surgery to change your DH's mind.

Fellow homebirther here, but I AM DONE! I get baby fever frequently, but toddler/preschooler fever? Never.

I think losing weight will allow me to be more active. I will be able to play with my son more and do a lot more fun family stuff. I know my self esteem will be different. I'm hoping that it will make me feel more attractive to my husband (he loves me now, I just don't love me). I just want to go and buy clothes in a regular store for crying out loud!

Neither of mine were good. I will fight for the right of any woman to choose where she births and with whom. However, I do not believe, as some in the movement do, that every birth should be at home. Mine certainly required medical intervention.

CHANGE- More ability to do somethings that I have wanted to do like skydive and run marathons, just to be healthy and look cute doing so. HOPEFULLY less symptoms from PCOS.

BETTER- I think that my quality of life will get better because I am not restricted in doing things that I want or things that I feel uncomfortable doing right now.

WORSE- That I will buy too many clothes! lol and that I may stretch myself two thin with running and doing stuff I never got to do as a bigger woman that I will run out of steam.

Velveteen - Yeah I assumed that there would be bad and good things, but I can't get over the whole factor of this is where my ancestors came from and this is my family history.. lol

I so hear you on the toddler/preschooler stage! I've told my hubby many times that I could be pregnant 20 times, go through labor 20 times, and take care of a newborn 20 times but I could NOT survive 5 toddlers!

My youngest is 2 1/2 right now and though she's a much easier preschooler than her big brother was I still have days where I want to scream and run away from home. As she's getting more independent I've been feeling more and more ready for another kiddo. If we get pregnant in the fall we'd be looking at about a 4 year age gap which I think I'd like since the 5 year gap we have between these two works really well for us.

Oh I understand this for sure. My dad's side of the family is from Germany. Near here actually. I keep threatening my DF that we are going there, but we never do it One of these days.

Any idea where they are from? Maybe I can go there and take pics and you can live a bit vicariously through me?

I really hope that losing weight helps me find the real Rhonda again. The real Rhonda is fearless, optimistic...and, dare I say it?....one sexy lady! Rhonda has been missing for a while now. I can't wait to find her again.
