Melissa - so last weigh in you counted how many of us lost 1.6 pounds. I'd be curious how many of us are TOM this week! :D
I am going through the Beck Diet Solution and today is the day that my "homework" is to skip a meal to practice hunger tolerance. You are supposed to record every hour how you feel on a scale of 1 - 10. I have cramps so bad than I don't even notice being hungry. I'm either very good at the hunger tolerance or it was the wrong day to do it! ;) I'll try to check back in later this weekend. If I don't get a chance, have a great weekend everyone! |
LOL Karen I think its an epidemic on the Red team! Maybe everyone can mark next to their weigh in with a big dot! LOL! I hope those cramps subside soon!
|
Hi Everyone! Just checking in. I'm sick again. I can't believe it. I've had a horrible headache since last night and ibuprofen doesn't seem to touch it.
The good news is that the last two days, my scale has said I'm down more than 1 lb. WI is officially tomorrow, so I hope the numbers will be good. I'm not watching the Super Bowl or having a party so it's just another weekend for me. I hope you all have a great Super Bowl weekend and stay OP or at least close to OP ;). |
jl
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well again. Seems to be something going around that we think we have gotten rid of and it is back again. I am not going to be home for the week end so thank heavens I won't have to put up with the super bowl lol. Hun You are doing great. It amazes me some of the things I can do and never thought I would be able to do again. You keep going. Won't be long and we are going to hear how you can outrun superman :) Melissa I join you in being glad the counsins are getting smaller. They were 44dd now they are down to 40d. Can't wait to be back down to a 34b. |
No TOM here. There are SOME blessings to being 50+ Weigh in tomorrow (after 3 days at a conference in a fabulous hotel) so I have my fingers crossed! And my toes crossed, and ...
We did a Trader Joe's run on the way home from Detroit and picked up lots of wonderful things. Those of you that have one close are so blessed! Jen - sorry you are sick again! I hope you are better soon. Shy - OH, I'm jealous girl! I'm still sporting 38 DDDs (almost fitting into DD). I am hoping the girls return to a 36C that they were the last time I was at goal weight. I'm really hopin' ... TERAPET - I did the band camp thing with my kids too - though never in charge - just worked it. You are wonderful for doing this for your kids. It is a LOT of work! Kari - congrats on the yoga! I love my routine too! It has really helped with my flexibility and balance and breathing :) And a double congrats on the size 14! That is AWESOME!!!!! Laura - thrilled to hear that you did will at your conference too :) WAY TO GO!!!!!! Tina - laughed at your post - I probably won't watch the game either. Cassie - sorry to hear you are still under the weather. I'm not Catholic, but I usually do give up something for Lent. I'm still thinking about it. Giving up a food seems more trivial this year, since I have already changed my eating so much over the last 7 months. I'm thinking of maybe observing another discipline. Spending more time in prayer, devotion, helping others - something along those lines. Melissa - thanks for the salsa recipe - looks yummy! Captain Melissa - way to go on the running! I'm really impressed by anyone that can run. I couldn't seem to do it when I was a normal weight and 25 - it surely isn't gonna happen at 50+ But, I will stick to my walking, and skiing, and ski walking and hiking. I may be a turtle, but I am a determined one http://www.clipart.co.uk/clipart/maz...mal/turtle.gif Hello to anyone I missed! I hope everyone has a wonderful POP weekend! |
Hi Red Team!! I have 27 pages of catching up to do!!! I hope everyone is doing okay. I worked this week, which felt good after not working since Nov. For those who don't know me well, I work for my husband's building company, I brushcoat the basement walls. Kinda like paint, but with a broom. The house I did this week took me 2 days, it was a huge basement. This isn't one of my dh's houses, it was one that the lumber company financed and then ended up taking back and they wanted dh's company to come in a fix what needed to be fixed. I swear the people were doing acid when they painted the rooms. I'm all for a colorful house, but man this was way out there. Anyway, this morning I woke up feeling good and was having coffee with dh and had a sneezing fit and felt awful the rest of the day. I slept the majority of the day, the kids had a snow day too. But I made a goal for myself this month to workout everyday, so this evening I sucked it up and went downstairs and did my WATP walk away your waist and by mile 2 I felt great, headache was gone, body wasn't achey, chest didn't hurt. And I was glad I did it. :) I've been retaining water today so I'm hoping that that will help flush my system as I don't have any lemon on hand.
Okay I think I'm rambling away here. Again, I hope everyone is doing well, Oh, I never did make it to WW to weigh in, I'll try tomorrow, if not it'll be monday. I'm going to do my best to catch up with the posts. :grouphug: *CountingDown ~ I didn't realize we were 'neighbors'. I live in the Ann Arbor area. :) |
Counting
I couldn't believe how big my chest got but that was good because it kept me proportional. Will be nice to be a tiny person again lol. Cats Glad you are happy. Very glad the working out made you feel great. I have found I have less problems with the lbs, asthma, arthritis and over all feel so much better since I started to work out. |
I'm a few pages behind and too tired to read. TOM hit me big time and the last few days I have been eating like an idiot. I'm taking a freebie this week if that's ok!!
|
Hey girls, I had to just come in and tell you all that I had the most exciting evening I've had in quite awhile (all company paid which makes it even better!!!). My co-workers got together at a local bowling alley/go-kart racing/arcade/bar. We played poker, did a few rounds of go-karts, played some lazer tag, played some DDR, drank lots of beer. That is my only downfall for the evening. Here it is 1:30 am and I just go home after oh probably 6 or 7 beers. I'm sure that killed my calories for the day... Bud Light and Corona. with lime. But the best part of the evening was...at the very end while I was doing some DDR with a co-worker...Amy from TBL season 3 walked up behind me and Marty was not far behind!!!! I introduced myself, of course being 3 shades under the wind (oh did I mention I had a few shots too) helped a bit, but all was good as I wasn't the only low-coherent one in the group. They are such a sweet and cute couple! I did have someone take a picture of us and I will post on my Million Pound Match-Up page. Amy and I have been chatting back and forth through Myspace about trying to change her to be my MillionDollarBody coach for awhile now so once I mentioned that she knew exactly who I was even though we had never met before. Marty offered me a free session to their bootcamp so I am going to try that out either Tuesday or Thursday. I am just so happy now and I should get to bed as I am supposed to meet my friend and her trainer in 5.5 hours. Um yeah, did I mention how much I've had to drink tonight. :stars: Later this morning may not be so fun! :barf:
|
Andi
Glad you had a wonderful time, if I drank that much I would die lol. Nice that you got to meet those people. Hope you have fun at the boot camp. cakes You do what you have to do. I know this can be a difficult time. You just remember there are no free weeks in life. We have to deal with what comes our way. |
Good morning ladies,
No TOM here and i'm happy to report a 3.6lbs loss. :carrot: YIPEE!!! Melissa: Congrats on finishing week 2 of c25k. I'm going to try to do day 3 of week 1 tonight and then i'll be on week 2. It's cool to be able to build our stamina with running. I can't wait until I can do a full 5k....exciting!! Utahgirl: Do you have ANY information? I guess I'll start by PMing you the quiz so you can figure out your points! AND maybe the 8 healthy guidelines to follow daily. shymoment: WOW, a 34b would be absolutely wonderful!! ;) I haven't been that small since before highschool! Okay gotta run, DS has two basketball games today... and I want to hit the gym sometime! Have a great day everybody! |
Thanks, Cassie! I'm going to be in Boston next week for work, so I'll have to find a church there to go to for services. I hope I can get off work to go! Maybe there will be an early morning one somewhere. As for what to give up, I think I'm going to give up sweets entirely. I've become such an addict lately, and I never used to be at all, so it'll be tough but a good one. Too bad I just bought that half gallon of ice cream... should I try to eat it all up before Lent? Just kidding!
Melissa, when I went on birth control my boobs ballooned up, and I was really unhappy about it. They seem to be shrinking as I lose weight, but are losing a bit of their perkiness as they go, which is frustrating. Maybe I need to do those "we must... we must... we must increase our bust" pec perking exercises (yes, I totally caught your reference)! Also, congrats on finishing week 2 of C25K! Danielle and Andi, my gym membership is $79/month... and that's a discount! Crazy gym prices in NYC. I have to work all day today, and probably most of the afternoon/evening tomorrow (though I'm running a 4 mile race in the AM and then have a brunch at noon). My Superbowl plans fell through, so I think my celebration is just going to be making some yummy chili and other traditional Superbowl recipes (but healthy), and eating them while I work. Recipes to come later in the day when I got bored and need a break from work :) I'm sad to report that I completely ruined any success I had at the conference by going way overboard at a company party last night. Today and tomorrow I am going to eat extra super healthy, and also work out a lot. Getting right back on the horse! I'm determined not to let last night affect my weigh in for all of you. GO RED TEAM! |
Good morning ladies! Well TOM is in full force here as well. And I haven't been doing so good, so I think I'll use a freebie week this week as well. My scale wasn't looking too nice this morning.
Not sure if we are doing anything for superbowl. I invited one of my girlfriends and her husband over, but I don't know if they are coming. But if they do, it'll be WW food all the way! Going to be drinking lots of water today. Also think I'll try and do some more yoga, I really enjoyed it. My muscles in my back are screaming at me this morning, but it feels good to know I was moving. :) Hope everyone has a great day! |
Good Morning Ladies! Happy Saturday :)
I've had a crazy week at work and haven't been able to check in or read any posts. I'll try to catch up over the weekend. We had a huge snowstorm yesterday and my neighbourhood is still pretty much snowed in. I managed to get through it this morning to go to WW and weigh-in. I was a little disappointed with my loss - it was only 0.2, but I guess I just have to accept that my weight loss story is slow and steady. Hope everyone has a great OP weekend! |
okay so i went to the WW meeting and really liked it. I got all the stuff to get me started. This will really help me food journal which is what I really need to lose weight. Well I hope everyone has a great day!
|
Joined a gym on thursday. Weighed in today and down 3 lbs - even with my cheat (whew!)
|
Quote:
Super Bowl Sunday Plan Workout in the AM to get some ap's eat light, and try to fill up on salad and fruit BEFORE I get there. bring my WW empenadas and home made salsa drink lot's of water limit myself to my 4 pack of wine coolers and no other alcohol I should be okay...and I have my 35 wap's to use if I'm too tempted for somethign good! I will only indulge if it's worth it, and I will stay in control. |
Teacher, congrats on your 3lb loss, that's awesome! :carrot:
|
Good Morning! At WI today, I was down 3 pounds. Woo Hoo!
Andi-- That's so cool about Marty and Amy. I'm sure you'll love the free bootcamp! MSTeacher-- Congrats on the 3 lbs and the gym membership. I hope you love the membership. Barbara-- Good job on joining WW. I have never tried it, but I have friends that swear it's the best way to lose weight. I wish you much success. Debalicious-- A loss is a loss. Be proud of yourself! Laura-- I hope your race goes well! Cakses-- I hope you get some rest and feel back up to par. TOM can be so hard! Cathy-- You have a great workout goal. Way to go for exercising last night even when you didn't feel like it. Counting-- We LOVE Trader Joes and shop there regularly. We hardly ever go to the regular grocery store anymore--just Costco and Trader Joes. Hope you enjoy the yummy food! Thanks for the well wishes. I hope I can shake this cold faster than last time. Shy--Thanks for the well wishes. I feel the same way about the Super Bowl. Hee Hee! Melissa-- You're the best team leader. You're truly awesome to be running. That's something I haven't gotten to yet. You rock girl! Karen-- That's interesting homework from the Beck Diet Solution. What is the reasoning for practicing "hunger tolerance?" I'm very curious. I fast for 24 hours once a month for religious reasons and tomorrow is my fast day. So I'm curious is I should try rating my hunger scale too? Melissa73-- Congrats on the 3.6 lb loss. You Go Girl! Terapet-- It sounds like you have been very busy. Good luck on the Super Bowl Scene. Jmoon-- I'm impressed with all of you who are doing C25K! Kari-- I love yoga! Some of it is so hard, but it can also be so relaxing. 88 lbs is a HUGE accomplishment! You are incredible! Keep it up! Tina-- You, me, and Rennie should get together on Sunday since none of us are into the Super Bowl. I hope you can rest this weekend since you're no longer babysitting. Cassie-- Thanks for the plug for voting. It's so important to exercise our rights. I'll be there on Super Tuesday! Kari-- Congrats on the NSV! Being able to fit into smaller clothes is always something to celebrate. |

Good Morning Girls!! gotta do a fly by! I'll be back later on to read what everyone is up to! Just had to tell you I had my WW meeting this morning and I was down 2.6! Yay!!
But, I got some REALLY good info on how to deal with parties! When dh and my little one and I get back from the mall I'll post it up! Its stuff you can use for all parties not just superbowl! Have a great morning/afternoon Red team and I'll catch you when I get back!! |

Okay still not gonna try to do personals but it looks like I'm missing tons of good news!! Cant wait to get back to see whats going on!! You guys are so amazing, I'm truly lucky to be a part of this group!
So I'm waiting for dd to eat so here is the meeting info I thought you all might take something from: First off...did you know there was an eating season? LOL...Halloween to SuperBowl Sunday. So this weekend is the end of eating season! Thank god! LOL! 7 Touchdown tips (tips to be successful superbowl sunday) 1. Squelch your thirst - drinking water and diet drinks 2. Something to crunch - pretzels, airpopped popcorn, veggies 3. Finger food - carrots, shrimp, fruit, veggies 4. Slam, dunk, dip - hummus, salsa, plain yogurt, FF sour creme, FF cream cheese 5. hearty Food for the Soul - try some lowfat quesadillas or veggie chili 6. Zesty hot wings - rather than deep fried wings, try boneless skinless chicken strips seasoned with hotsauce 7. Dont just sit there! - get some exercise in before, after or even halftime! And how to deal with parties P - Prepare a list of events (failing to plan is like planning to fail) A - Acknowlege challenges R - Rehearse what you'll do or say when tempted T - Talk positevely to yourself I - Invest time to monitor yourself and your actions E - Establish a reward system (set a party goal and if you meet it reward yourself) S - Success will be yours! Well, I thought it really was something to think about for all parties. I hope its some info you 'll think about too! Okay off to the mall! "see" you when I get back! |
Sometimes I feel like the only one who is not going to watch the superbowl :)
|
Hi everyone,
I could have sworn I posted yesterday but I think I got sidetracked and never actually pressed the button! Anyhow, yesterday I downloaded a bunch of fitness and running podcasts. I did my non running workout to Steve Runner's Pheddipidations - amazing how listening to him got me through a 60 minute cardio session. Every once in awhile he pops in and you can hear his feet hitting the pavement and his steady breathing while he talks - totally made me feel like he's pushing me forward in my workout. I also downloaded the c25k podcasts. I've heard good things about them, but haven't listened to them yet. Tomorrow I'll check it out! Andi - That was the greatest story! I'd also die if I drank that much alcohol! I haven't had a drink since November of 2005... Jasmine - we don't really watch the superbowl here either. When I first moved to canada, I liked to watch because I felt like it was a nice american thing to do, and I was homesick. But as it turns out, I don't actually pay attention to the game! So we've stopped watching it. Plus, for me, superbowl is a totally foodie activity. I think that was the best part of superbowl! The PIZZA!!! And the Pringles. And the fantastic excuse to eat whatever the heck I wanted. Now I'm almost afraid to sit down for a "superbowl" event because it's a food fest for me. Kudos to those of you who are making healthy superbowl snacks! I think in my world, superbowl = cheese. Happy weekend red team! (I think I'm down 1lb this week! Tomorrow will make it official.) |
Counting and Jen, I absolutely LOVE Trader Joe's! My favorite things are their whole wheat British muffins; oatmeals and cereals; Lite Chevre cheese; frozen breakfast patties; and frozen Greens with Envy. I also absolutely love how cheap their almond milk is - $1.50 a box is such a bargain!
Melissa, hurray for eating season being over :) Thanks for the tips! Jasmine, I have a lot of work to do today/tomorrow, so I plan to just keep it on in the background and maybe watch some of the commercials and the halftime show. I really don't care that much - I usually find the Superbowl pretty boring! Haha. Everyone, I just posted three fairly healthy Superbowl snack recipes on my blog. All are personally tested in the past and definitely tasty and healthy, but I'll post more complete reviews after I make them tomorrow. |
Quick fly-by today. Jasmine - I'm not watching the Super Bowl either (well, I might turn on the last few minutes of the game).
Melissa - thanks for the tips - they are GREAT! We took the new X country ski equipment out for a spin this morning. It was a beautiful day to hit the trails. Pictures are attached :) I hope everyone has a wonderful day and stays POP! Congrats to all of our losers! You are doing amazingly well!!! We are gonna rock the contest this week!!! Go RED! Good evening ladies~ Well we've cleaned house all day today. It looks really nice, and I'm glad it's done. My sister and the baby left this afternoon. They ended up staying again last night. I didn't mind though because I didn't have to get up. Kev and I slept until almost 11:00. I'm getting sick, my throat is killing me and in between my eyes it feels like there is a lot of pressure. I feel like just going to bed. My eating has been crap, I think I may end up taking a freebie this week. With TOM here and my eating I know it's not going to be good. I'm not going to make my exercise goal either this week. I'm not to happy about that, but there is no way I could exercise with my head feeling this way. I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow. Well I just wanted to stop by to say hello:) Joey and I are getting ready to watch some crazy movie.
Counting down- That 1st picture looks so cool. I would totally frame that and hang it in my house. jmoon- What are podcasts? I hear people talking about them all the time, but have no clue what they are??? Great job on the cardio today :) Jasmine- No superbowl for me either...I can't handle it. Everytime they seem to get moving they have to stop for one reason or another! Jen- Congrats on the loss girl, that is a great one:) MSteacher- Fantastic loss...keep up the good work;) I love the gym, I hope you enjoy yours! Melissa73- Sounds like you have a great plan for tomorrow...I love empanadas:) Melissa- WOOO-HOOO you go girl, keep on rocking:) Okay sorry ladies Joey is ready....I'll be back tomorrow to catch up with the rest of ya:) Have a great night~ |
I am working till 10pm so I am going to miss most of it I may tune in the last few minutes just to see...I mean the Patriots are in it so people around my home are so into it, its like a cult I have to kind of play along so they dont think Im crazy haha People love their sports dont they!
|
Jas - Nope you're not the only one. In fact I don't even know who's playing.
Today I upped my running intervals to 2mins running and 3 minutes walking and I got through the entire 60mins. It ended up being about 20 minutes of running total. Woah! Scale is NOT being nice to me this week despite my total on plan this week and getting lots of walking and running in. I'm hoping it will calm back down by Monday... but if I gain its not for lack of trying. Hope everyones weigh in went better I peeked at the #s looks like a good week for most of us! |
Good Sunday Morning everyone!! Well I'm trying to get some homework done so I can enjoy the rest of the day. I got some good healthy snacks so I should be good to go as long as I keep it all in check. Kinda overdid it yesterday, still within my points but just makes it even more necessary for me to stay the course today. So I'm doing some apple slices w/ FF apple dip, lots of cut veggies, pretzels and crystal light. Not sure what we are doing for main courses yet but i should be good!
I will be putting up our Red Team challenge today as well, so look for the thread and the details. What we are going to be doing is earning ourselves a tropical vacation! I got a smokin deal on this vacation for our entire team to visit warm tropical Paradise Island in the Bahamas! We'll only need to earn $5000 for this vacation. All the while we are earning the money we'll be working on those fit healthy bodies to have us beach attire ready! So watch for the details! Have a fantastic Sunday Red team!! Go giants! LOL! |
Our Red team vacation fund challenge is here
|
Melissa - the challenge looks like fun! We haven't seen much sun around here! Thanks for putting it together :D
We went cross country skiing again today. I am enjoying hitting the trails with DH. I hope everyone has a POP day - Stay strong during all of those Super Bowl parties!!! |
week 1 day 2 of c25k is behind me! Also did upper body weights.
Tina - podcasts are basically amateur radio shows of varying quality. They are free to download and come in different flavors - you can get ones about running, health and fitness, knitting, tv shows... All kinds! I plop them on my ipod and listen to them at the gym. The trick is finding something that motivates you. Hope everyone is having a great superbowl sunday. (No idea if it's even over by now...) jaime |
Jen - Here are some exerpts from the Beck Diet Solution on Hunger Tolerance. Of course, your fasting day is about over, but here's what it says:
"When people who struggle with dieting get hungry, they often feel hunger pangs intensley. The sensations can feel like an emergency. All their attention gets focused on how uncomfortable they feel - and when and where they can get food. They begin to think they won't be able to stand feeling that way. ...If you fear hunger, you might routinely eat to avoid the feeling. You might never have learned that it's okay to feel hungry, or you might never have developed skills to help you withstand hunger. Purposely skipping a meal will prove something to you: You definitely don't have to eat when you're hungry. Just because you want to eat doesn't mean you always should. This is one of the most important things you need to learn to lose excess weight and keep it off!" I was resistant to doing this exercise because I've always heard that it isn't good to skip meals because it can mess with your metabolism. I'm glad I did it because I did learn from the experience. It helped me yesterday when I didn't eat much at my sister's because what she was serving wasn't on my plan. I knew I wouldn't starve to death before my next meal, so I was able to resist fast food on my way home (30 minute drive). I waited and had a healthy dinner when I got home. I am not watching the Superbowl either! Counting Down - I love that first picture! Have a good evening everyone! |
Hello all! Just wanted to pop in real quick and say hi! I hope all is doing well! Have a great day!
|
Just wanted to pop in and say hello. We had a busy weekend but it was fun. Stood for almost 12 hours at the soup kitchen and dished out food. Have to be very gratefull for what we have.
|
Hey everyone
Hope everyone has had an excellent weekend. Mine was super busy and I'm actually looking forward to starting a new week. I posted a 2 lb. loss this week- (which in light of the end of the week is so great for me!!) Tomorrow I start week 5 of C25K, yikes! This is the week it gets crazy with 8 minute runs and a whole 20 minutes on Friday. But I know if I can keep my eating in check the weight will melt off too, so I'll do it!! I'm down 8 lbs for January and thrilled with that. Would love another 8 for February at least!! Check back tomorrow...have a good night! |
Just checking in to say Howdy Red! Oh and the GIANTS won!!! YAY!!!!:carrot:
I'm gonna start doing the c25k tomorrow on the community center treadmills and then swim some laps! y'all have inspired me so I set aside some money to just go therte. It's 5 minutes up the road, so this is cool. :D I have a sore throat and some sniffles so I took some meds to hopefully knock it out before it gets bad. I don't have time to be sick! I have a c25k to do! hehe:D HUGS!!!! Good luck w/your challenge!!! |
