236.9 this morning. I am so happy that I am moving in the right direction!
Another day on plan yesterday eating exclusively induction approved foods.
No headaches or other signs of discomfort either!
Today's foods:
Sounds boring but I don't mind eating the same stuff day after day, if I like it.
- black coffee, scrambled eggs with sausage and mushrooms.
- salad (lettuce, mushrooms, bell peppers, cucumbers) and chicken, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper.
- half a steak (cook it all but eat half today and half tomorrow in my salad or with eggs), sautéed veggies, small salad
Hi KarinF, hope you are having a great today on plan. Maybe JerseyGyl will take a look at your daily menu. She is very good at catching anything that might not be allowed during Induction. Carvinmom
My favorite soup is throwing chicken and lots of veggie in a pot with salt, pepper.
Another thing I really like is bone broth. So yummy and really nutritious.
I guess you could make a beef and veggies soup as long as you stick to raw veggies and don't add any canned soup concentrate, etc.
This website has some amazing recipes. Anything with a star is Induction approved. This tip regarding the website is from JerseyGyrl. That Lady is simply amazing, she knows so much and is always willing to help!
Have a wonderful day Ladies!!!
jessiegreene, wannaskipandlaugh, Lulu, miss you here Ladies! I hope that you are all doing well. Have a wonderful Sunday!

OK, I need a little help. I re-started Atkin's on Wednesday. I have 2 cups coffee with HWC and splenda when I get up. I eat a 2 egg omelet w/peppers, green onion, spinach, mushrooms and bacon sauteed in butter(1/2 cup after sauteed together) and a slice of cheddar as the filling, for breakfast. Chicken, cauli-rice (3/4 cup cooked) and fist full of cut romaine leaves for lunch. Chicken or hamburger steak, cauli-rice (3/4 cup) and fist full of cut romaine leaves for dinner. I drink at least 64 oz water daily. I GAINED 2 lbs in 5 days. Does something look wrong in my food?
Hi KarinF,
All I can think of is what JerseyGyrl mentioned a while ago, that sweeteners and cheese are not working for everybody and that sometimes these items can cause weight loss plateaus.
This might be too personal to discuss but TOM or approaching TOM can also cause weight gain.
Any additional stress that you could work on diminishing?
Are you sleeping well at night?
This is all I can think of and I am not an expert, just trying my best to take it one step at a time, with the occasional step back…..
ATKINS PROS, hope you jump in with ideas!
Wishing you the very best, Karin!

Thank you healthyin2015. No no TOM I sleep pretty good at night but I do take a prescription sleeping aid. I am not real active right now due to surgery on both feet 6 weeks ago but I am getting more mobile. Maybe thats it, who knows but I thought I was doing good and I would at least stay the same weight, not gain. I see you are getting it figured out. Great Job!! Thanks for your support.

Hi Karin,
In looking over your menu, there are a few things I am noticing that may be hindering your progress on Atkins.
As Healthyin2015 mentioned, artificial sweeteners are a problem for many. I know Dr. Atkins approved of Splenda but, it stalls a lot of people. You may want to consider eliminating it. Cheese can also be a culprit. I personally try to limit it to an ounce or 2 every few days.
I don't see any protein in the morning with your breakfast. Bacon, sausage, some type of protein needs to be added.
The main thing I see lacking is fat. Atkins is a high fat plan. Don't be afraid of plenty of fat. Are you adding a full-fat salad dressing to your romaine? Are you putting full-fat mayo on that chicken or hamburger steak? Are you adding butter to your veggies?
Try to up the water as 64 oz. is the minimum you should be drinking. Aim for half your body weight. In other words, if you weigh 200 lbs., you should be drinking 100 ozs. of water.
I hope this helps
You CAN do this!!!
All the best to you!

As for exercise on Atkins Induction, not a good idea. Your body is adjusting to this new way of eating. Give it time to become keto-adjusted before beginning an exercise program.
Thank you JerseyGyrl, I think I am missing fat in my diet. I like my romaine bare. I think it tastes better that way. Not a salad dressing fan but I could add a little garlic infused olive oil to it, I do like that. I will start putting mayo on my meet too. I did have a celebratory steak w/butter sauteed mushrooms and romaine leaves and a few radishes for dinner last night. GO SEAHAWKS!! I know I should stay off the scale but I just can't seem to be able to LOL... I was down 2 lbs this morning!!
As for the Splenda.... I don't use the package splenda, I use the Da Vincis Sugar Free Coffee Syrup in my coffee, so no carbs RIGHT????? But yesterday I used 4 drops Sweetzfree (concentrated liquid Splenda) in my 12 oz coffee cup, instead of DaVincis. Maybe that is better than DiVincis????? I don't think I could get used to un sweetened coffee. That is my bad habit. I don't drink pop or alcohol. I do have a cup of herb tea at night, sugar free caffeine free of course, to help with sleep.
I did post a pic of my dinner on FB Atkins Diet Support Group if you want to take a look. (If that is the one you are an admin. for).
Thank you for the help and support. I do want to get this right.

Karin, since you say you want to get this right.....I know you aren't going to like what I'm about to say but, DaVinci's, Splenda & Sweetzfree are all going to be a problem for you. I'll explain why. If you continue to feed that "sweet monster" it is never going to leave you. Those artificial sweeteners are not healthy. By you saying " I don't think I could get used to un sweetened coffee."....you are addicted. If you want to break that addiction, you're going to have to step away from those things.
I saw your dinner pic on the FB group. It looks great but, you need more fat. You already know this and sounds like you're going to work on it.
Thank you again JerseyGyrl, I might not like what you say but that doesn't mean I won't follow recommendations :-) I like 2 cups coffee in the mornings and I like it a little sweet. I don't crave sweets at all. I do not have a sweet tooth. I don't like coffee plain black, but if that is what it takes to get these pounds off, that is what I will do, or just give up coffee all together. I don't know if it is an addiction, I kinda look at it as my morning dessert. If it has to go, so be it. :-) That is the only time I have artificial sweeteners.
I normally like all my foods plain with just a little salt and pepper, I don't like sauces or salad dressing. I do like mayo and butter so I can get some extra fats there. I also like garlic infused olive oil so I can use more of that too. I can give the cheese up, no problem. I like pork rinds so I can get added fats with those too. I don't eat desserts so no problem there.
Thank you for all the advice and please help keep me in check. I know once I get the first week or two down, I should be fine.

AND I have a question about eggs. I thought they were a good protein and fat source so If I have them for breakfast, why do I need to add another protein? Do they not have enough protein in them?

Adequate amounts of protein & fat are what keep you feeling satisfied and not deprived. That was my reason for suggesting bacon or sausage with your eggs.
