  • Hello everybody!
Didn't weigh today knowing that my poor choices the other day would interfere with my numbers for at least a couple of days if not more.
I have been very good yesterday and also today.
To top it all, I walked today which to me personally is a great accomplishment.
    Good luck everyone!
Tomorrow I plan on prepping foods for the week: lunches, snacks, dinners so that I stay on track.
My checking in might move from daily to 2 times a week but that is perfectly OK for me as I am going back to crazy work schedule.
    We"ll see.
    All the best
  • I also send along the SUN to you all! Abstracted.. your day looks good and I wonder if it was a Meyer Lemon you found (THEY ARE as big as an orange! and juicy!)

I had to amend my day from yesterday as I was not on plan for dinner.. That was yesterday.. Today I WILL be OP!

Breakfast - 2 eggs, 1 oz Cheddar cheese, Butter and 3 sausage links
    Lunch -
Dinner - SALAD.. I have to eat it or throw it! I will eat it LOL

Taking down outdoor and indoor Christmas decorations and putting them away and sniffling as this makes me sad (tho good exercise as I have to climb a ladder to take down 60 feet of icicle lights LOL - love my Little Giant ladder!)
  • morning all, i'm focusing on drinking my water and planning for the work week
  • Hello Ladies!
Time to face the music here!
So, 3 days ago I made some bad choices (chicken sandwich, oranges) in terms of carb content. Jumped right back on the wagon and have been working hard and eating well within the boundaries.
This one day messed up my weight loss and delayed my progress for at least 3 or 4 days.
So, today (mind you after being VERY good and exercising each day) I got on the scale: 239.7 (still 1.2 gain, 2 days after the bad choices)
The conclusion is IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!
The delay and the steps back are a deserved consequence for my choice but DARN it was sooooooo not worth it.
So, stay on plan dear friends and all others reading this thread!
    Today
I walked again 3 miles at 0 and 7 incline (alternate every so often).
Foods: coffee (black), piece of roasted chicken (yep, that was breakfast and it was delicious)
cucumbers and chicken salad, 2 boiled eggs for lunch
Salad or roasted veggies and either grilled fish or pork pattie (with eggs and veggies) for dinner.
Water: plain and with apple cider vinegar in it (LOVE it, it is so refreshing!)

    Abstracted
Wow, great job sticking with it! Keep up the good work!
I LOVE water with lemon in it, just that, no sugar or sweetener! So good!
Costco has some amazing lemons and I even saw MEYER lemons there last week. Like Sue said, those are the best, tastiest, juiciest, most flavorful lemons EVER!

I know, I LOVE Christmas and hate putting stuff away. Well, Like Buddy in Elf would probably say: "…only 355 days left till Christmas"!

  • Hello Ladies,
Making progress and seeing small but positive results after a long delay due to my own bad choices!
I have been back on Induction foods exclusively to get back into ketosis.
    Thank God it's working.
    Today: 238.7
    Today's foods:
    coffee, 2 boiled eggs
roasted chicken, cucumbers, bell peppers, oil, salt, pepper
    Chicken salad, veggie salad
    Water

    Abstracted
Nice job and congrats on sticking with it and seeing results!
Yes, I only use the apple cider vinegar with the mother, Braggs brand and I can find everywhere even Walmart. Maybe check the specialty or health section of a regular grocery store might help. I don't know…it all depends on what stores we have nearby.
    carvinmom
Hope you got the internet problems fixed!

Back on plan is the plan! You can do it. Like Lulu said, it is tricky till you are back on it 100% but you sure feel so much better once you do. I know that first hand, we all do…
YOU are important and worthy. You deserve the best health and results you wish for. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Have a wonderful and restful night.
Oh, I am posting in the evening since that is when I have a little time but I do weigh in first thing in the morning.
Good luck tomorrow. May we all have a great day with good and healthy food choices!
  • Abstracted... I wish I could send you some of our monster Meyer lemons.. my parents tree is full of them... Come down to Florida!

Carvin.. I hope that your computer gets up and running

Healthy.. Sleep is such an important thing for life and for health! I thank you too for your encouragement!

I am trying my darndest to get 100% on plan and will post once I do it 1 day... then the 2nd day will be easier. I am good 2/3rds of the day.. something about dinner and being alone and its after the holidays and I am alittle sad/depressed .. but at least I walk and talk! I will still be here and cheering you all on! I need to find my blinders.. they must be hiding somewhere!
  • Howdy again!
Today - Tuesday: same weight 238.7
    Foods: coffee, eggs
pork patties (pork sausage, eggs, mushrooms, bell peppers, egg, salt, pepper, fried)
Big salad with lots of veggies, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, roasted chicken
    Water: NOT enough
No planned exercise, just being on my feet for +8 hours at work.

I have been on plan and feeling great. I know that there are ups and downs in terms of seeing numbers going down. I am OK with the scale not moving and knowing that I stayed on plan. Hopefully tomorrow it will show a smaller number.

    wannaskipandlaugh
OK, you are right and 100% entitled to feel sad and even upset, at times.
There is a positive side to it (finding something good even in a bad situation, kind of thing): being alone means you can make your own choices without being (food wise) tempted by others in the house. I know I struggle when others around me eat carb filled meals without putting an ounce on……ARGH!!!!
Is there something that could brighten the evenings? A fun or new hobby maybe?
Could a non-food related incentive be a motivator such a trip somewhere you have always wanted to go, tickets to a concert or cool show/musical/etc, clothes, enroll in a fun class, a day at a spa, I don't know…….just honestly trying to be supportive and think what might work for me and that it might work for others. How about a competitive streak: "I am going to win and get to my goal before others do!" hahaha I mean, anything that might help. People at work are doing a Biggest Loser type of thing. I am thinking about it. I am concerned as 10% of my weight is so much more weight than 10 % for a small person…… Not sure about this one, but an idea. The winner gets a lot of money, each person puts 25 or $ 50 down.
Please don't feel bad about struggling, we all do and try hard to get back together. We are all here for you as you are always here for us!
    You are amongst friends here!

    Abstracted
AMAZING drop and sticking to it!

    carvinmom, mom2threebratz
Hope you are doing well and having a good week!

Happy Hump Day tomorrow and have a fantastic rest of the week!

well, after a week of fight this putter stuff I figured it out... wifi extender wasn't set up right,,,urrr. Have to admit it drove me to eat and go off program. Got the hives over being caregiver of daughter and husband sits and eats chips and brings in blueberry muffins,, Youd think id get some better willpower going.
I have an exercise bike in home.. to hard to get out and walk this time of year. we are in a blizzard and roads are closed, 29 below. River is at flood level with ice jam. Id so like to spend winters in warmer country, better for fibro...
Im back on track this morning and just want to make the right choices today. also do some preparing so things are there when I need them.
good luck to you all, see you tomorrow,, maybe someday I will be able to remember names and help support..
  • I have been reading through some of the posts and a wealth of knowledge is here.
HI, My name is Christina an I am a CARBaholic.

I made my way here to this thread because it seems to me that avoiding the "wrong" carbs (not the ones in veggies) is the only way I see results. having tried several other diets, It's almost as if my body is fed up with my feeding it "wheat" or wheat products. I FEEL better think better and generally have better luck with the downwards motion of the scale when I am paying attention to my carb intake.

Earlier in 2014 I started doing crossfit, sustained a knee injury, and despite that I managed to keep carbs in check and get down to 178 - my knee has started to get worse, ( I have a traveling patellar that will need surgery in the spring, if I am not careful it dislocates easily) I got depressed, school stressed me, In general just feeling like crud I gave up on myself.
When my Doc told me I would need the knee surgery b/c of the constant swelling, I looked at my fat body and realized there is no way this weight can be tolerated while recovering.
So with a full heart - I come to you all for support and to be support
    If you will have me

I am in the process of obtaining a patella stabilizing brace so that I can walk more easily, and will follow Atkins - I had the book once and it has disappeared from my home, So basically printed off the allowed veggies, limiting cheese and dairy, will check here for protocol and update as daily as possible.
  • i've been doing induction for 6 days now and at the beginning i thought i'd be able to able meat and veggie but the longer i'm on atkins the more i find i can eat. my one really bad day was actually my first way back at work i ate more than enough, carbs were good but drank crystal light throughout the day. i felt like i was starving no matter how much i ate, even woke up starving but drank a huge glass of water and went to bed. the next morning i remembered reading you cant have crystal light so i switched to water and the hunger went away and felt 200% better. since then i've slowly got my energy so hoping i'm over the worst of it.
  • Yesterday was okay -
    Scale said 199.5
I ate more than 20g carbs yesterday so today will be managing this.
I am finding I am getting a small headache behind my eyes, which will hopefully go away as my body adjusts.
mom2threebratz - I know what you mean about energy I am waiting for my low then leveling as well, which is where the headache is slipping in.
Egg & egg whites +spinach and a little cheese this morning cooked in butter.
    Coffee with cream
Visiting a classmate today she is sick and her husband is getting over his bout with kidney stones so she needs some cheering up.

    GOOD MORNING!!
  • Quote: but drank crystal light throughout the day. i felt like i was starving no matter how much i ate, even woke up starving but drank a huge glass of water and went to bed. the next morning i remembered reading you cant have crystal light so i switched to water and the hunger went away and felt 200% better. since then i've slowly got my energy so hoping i'm over the worst of it.
Sounds like you learned your lesson with Crystal Light.

It contains ingredients that are not Atkins friendly - Citric Acid, Maltodextrin, Aspartame (Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine.), Caffeine, Contains Less than 2% of Natural and Artificial Flavor, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate and Biotin (B-Vitamins), Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Magnesium Oxide, Artificial Color, Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1, Soy Lecithin, Tocopherol ...
Maltodextrin and Aspartame are the 2 biggies. Aspartame was something Dr. Atkins was very specific about that needs to be avoided.
Also be aware, "sugar-free" products cause cravings and hunger. It is the way they are designed. The more you consume, the more you want, a vicious cycle for sure. Best to eliminate ALL artificial sweeteners and stay away from anything that says "sugar-free" on the label.

Stick with water. Its great for you and its definitely Atkins friendly
  • Quote: I am finding I am getting a small headache behind my eyes, which will hopefully go away as my body adjusts.
Sounds like "Atkins Flu'. Be sure you are drinking plenty of water. You also need salt. Have you heard of Bone Broth? Its great for Atkins Flu and for just feeling great in general
