Deelee, thank you for the congrats and seconding re what Marie said about posting. So happy you are here! Woot!
Marie, glad you are feeling near 100 percent from surgery. That is awesome. Hope you find your Bowflex at the right price. Would LOVE one of those.
Ending my eating day at 1250 as have had a number of high days already this week.
HOPE another pound flies off my body this weekend. I am definitely stronger from doing the step counting program.
To be repetitive lol, I have been exercising and walking and running and all that jazz but when I started getting an accurate step count, I just wasn't doing enough even with the daily workouts. I am getting stronger and stronger and feel quite a bit better.
My volunteer gig wasn't what I thought it would be exactly. I will work there on Monday but not sure if it will last after that.
Really need to get employed but if it takes until the end of the year, that'll be okay too.
Just checking in. I was able to start exercising on Sunday. I did 36 minutes on the recumbent bike. Monday, I can’t ever remember Monday. Since this was our first time being election judges, DH and I did a lot of studying. Election day was very long. We were in our home voting site which handles 2 smallish distreicts but it is not electronic voting. We’re still in the “darken the oval” like the SATs stage. The ballot is then put in to a machine for electronic reading. This mean’t that I personally hand out 684 ballots, that were like separating brand new dollar bills. I also had to make sure of a bunch of other stuff, most importantly that every ballot I handed out was accounted for. I wish we would go to the electronic. But I felt that it was an important job, ensuring that everyone’s right to vote is both upheld and legal. Very worth it.
Unfortunately, I also am hosting 15 ladies (plus me) for bunko tonight. When I agreed to all thes things I wasn’t planning on spending the 2 months after my surgery having to do so much for Dps. Shoulder very sore. My house is a wreck. No time to organize, put things away.
And I have to pack and be ready for my trip to D,C. and Savannah GA. Leaving tomorrow morning. Need to pack, see if I can fir into my one dressy dress. I’ll have to buy a new pair of black dress slacks because I didn’t buy a pair for the brif time a was a size 10. I hav4e ben a tight size ten for a while now but I did buy jeans. It would be great if I could lose 15 lbs in 3 days. J No time to shop for them. I’ll have to do it in D.C. this weekend while I’m visiting my son.
I'm glad Marie and Amar2 are feeling better. I have to catch up on posts still cuz I don''t know the specifics. I'm going to try and post this to the Golden Girls too. Hugs!
DeeLee, I hope you found the close you need and I think the only way to lose 15 pounds in 3 days is amputation. A really bad weight reduction plan.
Am2, it's really cool that you're FitBit is helping you get even more movement in. How did the scale go this morning?
I got such a deal... on the BowFlex. It's a sad story why I got an amazing price but it's not something I could change. I paid $400 for a brand new BowFlex with the leg extension. It costs new $1800. The reason the couple was selling it new, in the box, is because the man bought it and then was in a bad accident and broke his neck. He's mobile, not paralyzed, but his surgeons said, never, no way to use it or his bike. They listed it for $400 and I didn't bargain in anyway. They'd taken enough of a hit.
So, Thursday DH and I started defining our workouts, then fine tuned it this morning. Now we have a fitness workout we're doing together with the weights, directions, etc on each exercise. We're set up for 3X a week with the aerobic workouts 4-5 times a week. My metabolism won't know what hit it.
Marie
Huzzah Deelee & Marie, just dropping in really quickly as need to go to sleep.
My weigh-in went not so good re the scale as I gained the pound I lost last week, but lost inch off waist so know that my new level of activity has paid off in muscle and am not bothered by the scale gain right now.
Unfortunately seem to be having a mini eating binge tonight and ending eating day at 2970. I know why this is happening and am not bothered as it has abated now.
Marie, that is really a good price for a Bowflex and so glad the man is okay who is selling his equipment because of his accident. It was good of him to offer it at that price. Have fun with your new workouts.
Deelee, good for you for being an election judge. Also hope your bunko went well tonight.
Got to go round up my dog. It is cold outside here at the moment, as we define cold in my part of the country lol.
Hi all!
Marie and Am 2 - LOL! Yeah, I didn't lose the 15 lbs. I think I gained one but am attributing to hormones or water weight cuz I was very good. As the hostess of bunko I have a co-hostess that brings a few appetizers/desserts. I just supply the table snacks and beverages. I didn't even look at what she brought though I could smell the cinnamon every time I walkedby. DH bought the table snacks for me with permission to throw out leftovers. I managed to give them away. I did remember that when our baths were remodeled I had moved some of my nicer, newer clothes into DS's room and found the size 10 dress slacks! They were slightly too tight. And my dressy dress - obscenely too tight. Been in D.C. With DS and DH. Went to a couple of favorite restaurants but was very good. Did a fair amount of walking but I'm soo out of shape. Got tired way before them. Driving to Savannah GA now to be with DH's retirement clubs and their Stepford wives. Even the really old ones are thin. Thursday we will drve back to D.C. And see DS again. I would rather have stayed there but truthfully, I'm surprised that he's letting us come back - he has a social life to live. So DH volunteered to tale them out to eat.
Am2 - glad your not worrying about the 1 lb. I'm sure it's muscle since you lost inches. Good think that was measured.
Marie- I've always been interested in a Bow Flex. That's the type of exercise I always like. I hope I can get back to working upper body. Shoulder still sore but think it will clear up eventually. I also have that small protruding disc I have to be carefull of. DH needs help navigating - ttyl!
Hi Ladies-I am trying to get back in the swing of things again. I have another trip this weekend but I really need to get here and post before I start gaining weight. Todays cals 1840. Ex-60 min step class at the Y.
Marie-It is really cool that you are taking up the Bowflex with your husband.
Am2-I am glad you are feeling better.
deelee-I love Savannah. I hope you have a great time. Are you eating at Lady & Sons?
Just a quick post as I need to get to bed soon. Very tired. These continue to be very busy days. Missed gym yesterday as we were babysitting but got there today. I have so many exercises to do here at home too that I can't keep up. Despite all the exercises I'm doing I've been eating poorly and was up 2# Sun (the day I consider my weigh-in day), but today I was down .4# and I haven't done too badly today on my eating. My bs have mostly been high or so-so with a few good ones. I see the doc next week and will get more meds I'm sure. I'm accepting of that but think that realization put me into a kind of slump and that's why I started eating too much, trying now to get out of that. I know I'll always need eat what my eating, so it's silly to let these things bother me. My biggest problem is when things get me off my usual routine (like PT appts, exercise, grandchildren about anything LOL), then I don't keep my priorities straight and I start eating too much.

maryea-Good for you for posting. Keep up the good fight!
Today's cals-1865, today's exericise-60 min step class at the Y. I checked my old stats and I am 5 pounds lighter this year than last year at this time. I was happy to see that. I am eating lots of soup lately hoping to lose maybe just a little before Thanksgiving. I'm a dreamer.
Tera, enjoy your trip to FL and you're DD's recital. That has to be exciting!
Mary, how is the PT going? How's your posture improving?
Am2, I hope all is well with you and that your weekend weigh in goes in the down direction.
I'm sorry I've been missing all week. I've been sick. Flu, cold, whatever. It's been yucky. I'm on day 8 and so far only a slight fever in the morning. I figure that is progress. I have done a low aerobic exercise, at least until the virus moves into my chest - then I'll quit. I've been so wiped out (don't know how since I messed a week of work) that DH and I haven't used the BowFlex. He's sick as well but just a fraction of it.
During the week I was great on the diet (I do like to eat when I'm sick but didn't want to gain weight). Last weekend wasn't pretty. Not horrible ugly but still not great. This weekend is better. No mindless munching.
DH and I are roasting a turkey today. I know, we're a few days early. Got a good deal and we're going to DD's house for T-day. So the left overs won't be ours. And I love TURKEY so I'm going to enjoy the bird.
Marie
Hi, all, just a flyby and will post in morning after I weigh in.
Tera, hope you are enjoying your trip.
Marie, sorry you are sick and hope it abates soon.
Maryea, sorry you were in a slump and hope you're feeling better soon.
Didn't realize how many days I hadn't posted here, just busy, trying to do more freelancing or at least get in a position where I will be doing more by the beginning of the year.
Doing my 10,000 daily steps and lifting weights 2-3 times per week, eating has been just barely at an acceptible calorie level but I don't expect a loss on scale tomorrow.
Kind of in a slump but kind of not. I'll decide tomorrow! Woot!
Am2, I hope you are able to leave the slump soon. You're kicking butt on the exercise. Good for you.
Today is the first day in over a week without any fever. WOOT! Tomorrow I will return to work. I didn't weigh in today (or won't tomorrow) as the gravy I made with the turkey yesterday is a little on the salty side. Calories have been fine and today I did the bowflex. Also a nice hike with the pups.
Marie
Woot! Glad you are on the mend, Marie, and can return to work tomorrow!
My weigh-in was a big surprise to me given the high calories, but the extra walking is paying off as I DID go down .8 on scale and DID lose another 2.5 overall inches, with .5 of that being from the all important waist measurement.
So shall watch cals better this week. Hiking with a group on Thanksgiving and their experience will help me get higher up on trails I haven't been able to get to for years, although basically I have to stay down low, flat and safe these days.
Am2, cool Thanksgiving plans. Going for a hike is a great idea. We're driving to Reno on Thursday morning. If I don't bring snacks, I won't be able to munch along the way. Great news that you lost more. That FitBit is just the tool you needed.
Nothing new on my end. Yesterday I was at approximately 1500 calories. I didn't calculate the exact stuffing calories. I probably over-estimated the amount but one never knows. I made turkey noodle soup yesterday so I have soup for lunch. I'm thinking it will be a stand in for chicken noodle soup that's notorious for helping kick viruses on their rear.
