I haven't bought a swim suit in years although I have a few that I would never put on where anyone else could see me. They have made great strides in full figure suits, but most of the ones I have seen that would really be good for an older out of shape woman were in catalogs. They might have some nice ones in Lane Bryant but I never shop there. I am somewhere in between the largest regular size and the smallest full figure size, trying very hard not to graduate! LOL

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

I have had open heart surgery and at least 3 other heart events requiring a stent. One was 4 months after having a good stress test. None were considered a heart attack, although I had symptoms. Never have I had a chest pain. I have had shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, and my main symptom has been pain in my jaw on the left side. It wasn't severe pain, just there and caused me to reach up and rub my jaw in an effort to relieve it. Not everyone has chest pains, and they can be caused by something else. Be sure you are aware of the subtle signs of a heart attack, and never hesitate to get checked out. It's better to go to the ER and be told that you have indigestion than to wait and have a heart attack. If you call an ambulance, they EMT can check your vitals and will recommend whether you need to go to the hospital.

The Mother's Day "Chopped" Event

My meal = appetizer
My ingredients – shrimp, crab, guava, Japanese Panko flakes, wheat berries

My son-in-law’s meal = entrée
His ingredients – steak, sour cream onion dip, squash, frosted flakes, wheat berries

My daughter’s meal = dessert
Her ingredients – refrigerator biscuit dough, kiwi, mascarpone cheese, cocktail hot dogs, wheat berries

Anyone want to guess what we made?

Hi everyone. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY i hope your day is awsome filled with the ones you love. lynn that chopped dinner sounds like such fun so what did you all cook and did it taste good? i'm spending a quiet day and later we are going to visit my mil. yesterday wore me out,it was bitter sweet, heartwarming to see my friends family and friends gathered to honor her.it was anice service, filled with laughter and tears. i managed pretty well and was glad to have my girls with me. and oh my gosh was there alot of food. my friend was famous for her partys and lavish spreads and we did her proud. one of her girls brought me a big bouquet of flowers last evening. i find im tiring quicker with the walking with a cane. a bit wobbly and thinking every step so i dont fall. im glad to take it easy today. rosey

Rosey, that was so sweet of your friend's daughter to bring you flowers. Just shows how wonderful we all know you to be.

DH and I went to the other side of the mountain and went on our Mom's Day adventure. We tandem biked 35 miles. Pure gooey, tired legs today but it felt so good to have my life back. Tomorrow is 10 weeks post op and I've never biked over 35 miles so I'm pleased. I received a cool pineapple houseplant that has a 6" pineapple on it from my daughter and a beautiful orchid from my son and DIL. Chatted with my parents and as they repeated (and repeated) the surgery schedule for my dad later this week, I thought of all wonderful chicks that handle so much dementia with a smile. I wanted to screech. Instead and rolled my eyes and the such since we were on the phone and they couldn't tell. The up side of the surgery and preceding appts this week is that I didn't hear about their weather over and over again. For that, I was thankful. And please know, I really do care about the surgery and have my worries but it would ahve been nice to talk about something else. But alas, my parents talk about the weather and medical issues. And that's it. In a way, it does make me chuckle since they complained about my grandfather doing that.

Lynn...don't have a clue. All 3 of you used wheat berries, whatever that is. Give us a hint, like what region does it come from?

Glad you all had a nice mother's day. I, of course, spent the day attending my BIL's funeral and time with the family. It would have been really nice if it hadn't been a funeral. One of my other SILs and I stationed ourselves in the kitchen and helped get the food on the table. That's what she and I do. We make and serve food, lol. I ate too much...sigh...

Lynn, I'm going to take a stab at your Chopped menu. You all must have had such fun.

Appetizer: Breaded and baked/fried seafood served over a wheat berry salad with a guava based dressing/dip

Entree: Chicken fried steak using the Frosted Flakes as the breading, squash casserole made with the sour cream onion dip and a wheat berry pilaf

Dessert: A danish style pasty filled with a sweetened mascarpone filling and a sweet wheat berry pudding garnished with candied cocktail hot dogs, lol

I've got a lot of cycling to do this week to counteract the weekend but I'll probably only do what I usually do. DH took his bereavement day today and we went shopping. I bought a Shark floor steamer because I've heard so many good comments about them.

Gotta run. Catch you all later.

Hi Isabella,

Almost exactly! I added garlic to the seafood, and mandarin oranges and honey and raisins to the wheat berry salad.

My son-in-law put crunched frosted flakes on the squash (delicious) and made his wheat berries savory with onions, tomatoes, and garlic salt.

My daughter had the most trouble - the kiwi curdled her mascarpone cheese so she had to start over. She put the wheat berries, kiwi, and apples in the pastry & covered with a sweet mascarpone sauce. She sprinkled the carmelized hot dogs (NOT delicious) over the pastry. Without the hot dogs, was pretty good.

My favorite part of Chopped is trying to figure out what I would do with the ingredients. I think it is interesting that you guessed so close to what the 3 of us did.

Lynn
