Hello golden friends. I asked to join in your group and you welcomed me. Thanks. A little bit about myself: married 28 years to my high school sweetheart with 2 sons 25 and 20 years old. I gained my weight after I was married. I've done just about every diet that I knew. Stayed on for awhile lost a few lbs only to get tired of it and gain all I lost plus more. Then last year I asked doctor for help to lose this weight. I was 281 on a 5' 2" frame. I lost about 42 lbs. The minute I had lost this I started to gain back about 20 lbs. Then I discovered the dukan diet. It's a high protein low carb low sugar and low fat diet. I am a meat eater so decided to try it. I love this diet so far. I bought a mini trampoline and I've worked up to 15 minutes jogging on this. Then I do floor exercise. I always try to do 5 days a week and take weekend off. I've lost 33.5 on dukan and 22 from last year for a total of 55. That's a lot for me. So with your support I would hope I can continue on my weight loss journey. I have never wanted something so bad as I do now. That's a little about myself.
Welcome Cajun and taxi girl, nice to see new faces. I haven't heard of dukan but it'd work for me since I'm a meat lover too. I have some outside things to do, tie up my climbing roses for one. The branches are sticking out every which way. I have 3 or 4 early roses blooming already. We had a very bad turnout last Saturday for the whole town rummage sale. If I wasn't so hard up, I'd donate all the left over treasure to Salvation Army. We'll have another rummage sale this fall, if it doesn't sell the 3rd time around I'll give up and donate it.
Off I go...later gators.
Thank you bobbolink.. Wish I could go outside and play. I'm stuck inside working. My husband are going out of town this weekend to see some family. They own land in the woods and have a pond to fish in. I'm so looking forward to the weekend. But they will be cooking all kinds of things and I know I will go off plan. I hope it's not too bad. Lately there is so much going on the weekends they are sabotaging me. I still manage to have losses but at a smaller amount. Frustrating. I have to learn to deal with it and not overeat the bad choices. There will always be things thrown at me. I can't stop living. I'm trying so hard to stay on tract.
Taxi girl. I don't know how they get that chart showing the weight and goal either. But from what I understand I have to have 20 posts and 20 days and it's not 20 days yet. Maybe it will show up when it's time.
Good Morning, All...
Welcome, Taxi Girl and Cajun Lady! Yes, it's 20 days/20 posts, and then you have to set up the weight squiggly. You can get help with that after you've met the 20/20.
Marie - what did you think of the DWTS finale? I was disappointed, all around! I'd have liked them ALL to win, and I'm glad I didn't have to make the choice! Any one of the three would have been a fine choice. It was a particularly good season, I thought.
Off today, doing a little laundry. The cat box OBVIOUSLY needs attention (I HATE summer!), and I have a few things on GM's grocery list to purchase. Nothing very exciting on the agenda!
Sounds like you're all doing okay. Bobbi - sorry the rummage sale didn't go as well as the other ones did.
Mary - what IS the website you found? You mentioned it, but you didn't provide a link.

Isabella - I lose 4-5 lbs every month. Unfortunately, it's the same 4-5 lbs over and over!
This morning I was in the kitchen and heard this thump, thump, thump noise and I went and looked outside and it was DH starting on the flower bed by himself. He was digging out a weed. I grabbed my gloves and went out to help/supervise. We dug out everything (except the azaleas) I pulled out what were weeds and we replanted the purple cone flowers. They resemble black eyed susans but they are a purplish pink flower. I ended up with some extra plants and they are sitting in a bucket of water while I figure out where to plant them. If I were still working I would take them to work and people would take them home. Then we covered the dirt with red mulch. Looks nice. He also put some red mulch around the shrubs in front so now we have to go get some more mulch to do the other side of the house. My knee is screaming. If I had had time to think about it I would have worn my knee brace that I wear when I exercise. I also dug out a bunch of pink gladiolia bulbs. They just keep multiplying! LOL And while digging I dug up some other bulbs that I think are daffodils, so I replanted them. I think at one time I had tulips in that flower bed too, but I didn't find them, unless the ones I thought were daffodils were the tulips. Lord knows what I'll have next spring!
Marie - I understand the concept of not having the bad food in the house. I do. But it's always going to be somewhere. In the long run, we are all better off learning to resist it and then it doesn't matter if we see it or not. I refuse to blame someone else for food that I put in my mouth myself. Everytime I resist I get a little stronger and feel really good about myself.
Not much going on here. Still working on the house but keep getting interrupted by other things...paying bills, phone calls, etc. Dh decided to go to Costco and I had to go too...we usually share a combo pizza there but he wanted a hotdog today and I don't care for them so I ended up with a whole piece of pizza...I ate about 3/4 of it. And I also picked up a macadamian chocolate cluster and a sample of mocha. I will likely regret all that because it doesn't leave me many calories tonight.
Taxigirl - Not sure if I've welcomed you. So, WELCOME!! Always glad to have new people join us!!
Cajunlady - I know how it is to want to go somewhere but dread the food issues involved. But do go and have fun. You can always take care of business when you get home..
Rie - You are so disciplined you probably can keep your own special treats in your house. I'm not sure I should tempt myself that much yet. Only multi-packs I ever get are those 40 cal fudsicles a few times a year. Even if I eat the whole pack I don't too much damage!
This a quick drive by. Tomorrow I will be able to catch up on everything I think. Just read the first page of posts as I scrolled down.
Welcome to Taxi and Cajun Lady. I look forward to getting to know you.
Marie - lol when I r4ead about my salad croutons. However, I do less damage with those than I do with the crack, I mean chocolate!
Glynne - I too have found DH stash. And DS once left a box of lemon heads out (just 3 weeks ago,) and I ate them. He said, "I didn't think you had a problem with Lemon Heads." I told him I tried one in desperation and found that I like them...Better than salad croutons. I told DH he had to find a new place for his stash.
Going to play bunko tonight. Will be LOTS of evil treats around. I'm not in the mood for that. I am in detox mode. I had a big chocolate binge a few days ago.
I'll be back later tonight or tomorrow. Hugs to all!
Just got in from DGD's soccer game. Nice evening for a change. It was warm today but not too. Got a lot of stuff done around the house. cleaning and laundry. This afternoon I decided to clean my closet. WHAT was I thinking? It took forever. Took everything out, washed it down and sorted. Lots of stuff in there that must have hidden forever. I actually had "mom" jeans! nice everything is sorted by type and even color. Maybe I can find something to wear now.
Welcome CajunLady. Look forward to getting to know you. Have fun on your camping trip. Gets lots of exercise and eat as well as you can. We do what we can, when we can. If you're taking food make sure that you take stuff that you can eat.
Hi Taxigirl, There are a lot of us here, and everyone is really supportive. It takes awhile to get all of us straight, i'm sure, but soon we hope to be like family.
Dee, Actually, I like salad croutons, so I might be tempted to eat them too. Hubby's candy, not so much. I guess it's a good thing. He likes stuff like those pink circus peanuts, and candy corn. Those I wouldn't eat even if I was pretty hungry.
Mary, got a flyer from Costco today. I don't have a membership but I keep thinking about it. I do like to go in and look sometimes. And some things are pretty cheap.
Carol Sue, Sounds like you really got a good workout today, getting the gardening done. I love prenenials that I can divide and share. I guess we all have our own way of avoiding temptation. DH has lots of "his" stuff around and i'm not too tempted. Some stuff is just too hard to stay away form. I know the stuff is out there, but I'm not tempted by it every day.
Bobbi, Sorry you didn't get rid of more of the stuff that you took to the garage sale. I hope you made enough money to make it worth your while. I have a couple of roses blooming too.
This will be a quick post tonight as I want to bury my head in a book. I was training today and it went well but it always makes me tired. Particularly when I am a little under the weather.
Every day I have been checking my garden plants when I come home. It is fun. They are out of shock and growing away in their little wallowaters. I can't wait till the cucumbers start producing....
Bobbi, sorry that the garage sale didn't work out. It sure is a lot of work. I have been thinking of doing that and I sure have enough stuff but it is SO much work. I will have to consider it. I could start my own used book store the way it is and I know that I could sell lots of clothes and stuff. It might be worth it.
Taxi, hello and welcome!
Freda, I was laughing at the idea of you cleaning your closet. What were you thinking indeed! i always think it is a good impulse until I get in the middle of the huge job and then I have to finish. I need to do that, though.
DeeLee, have fun at Bunko and good luck with the evil treats.
Mary, doing the family research is so much fun. I hope you enjoy.
Donna, a friend is headed for Denver next week and I told her she simply must visit the Blue Bonnet. She said they are also going to a "peruvian steak house" where you eat salad and then they just keep bringing around all kinds of grilled meat for sampling. Have you heard of this?
Cajun, just keep posting and you will get a ticker!
Well, to the Karens, Gayle, Rosie, Zoe, Isabella and anyone else I missed... Later!
Cajun, great job on your weight loss effort. You seemed to find a diet that fits what you like. How cool is that?
Donna, I was a very happy DWTS fan last night. Heavens chickie, Donald is a PACKER for goodness sakes. I used all my text votes, all DH’s text votes and my house phone votes for him on Monday night. But I really liked all three. It was an amazing amount of talent.
Carol Sue, I totally agree about letting bad food in the house. Heck, I will eat some of it and DH likes junk. I wish you could send me all those discard bulbs. I’d love them. And I could have my DH plant them. I’m such a lazy gorker.
Mary, at the sample of mocha. We are mocha addicts.
Deelee, there are moments needing the croutons and moments (most minutes in the day) that need chocolate. I LOVE chocolate. I worship the cocoa bean. And I’d take the croutons (especially the focaccia garlic ones from Costco) over lemon heads any day.
Freda, glad your weather was finally nice for your DGD’s soccer game. Good thing she’s not playing here. We have frost warnings and it’s supposed to rain. I wonder the weatherfools know that 32 and rainy means snow???
Rie, my wall-o-waters are supposed to be delivered on Friday by Fedex. YAY! I told DH to read the directions as you got so muddy. And truly, I’d set them up but he has this habit of taking over anything and everything needing a handyman. So I let him. Aren’t I generous???
Still drowning at work and since I was up late watching DWTS last night, I’m too tired to read (will put me to sleep) or anything else. So I got to visit two nights in a row. Now, I need to go to audible dot com and pick out a new book to listen to. I finished my audiobook and need another. Or else I will be miserable on my way to work tomorrow.
Marie
